Sorry I was late posting. Here's the update. Last Wednesday I had a stress test, a Doppler test to check my valves, and something else that I can't remember. Anyway, these tests showed that while I do have plaque in the main artery to my heart, there is no real blockage at this point. I don't have to do anything more for a year, unless I have chest pains or worsened shortness of breath. I also was told there was no reason that we couldn't go to Florida. So Friday afternoon my husband and I took off for Ormond Beach. We arrived yesterday around 3 PM. I really feel I am one of the most blest people on earth. I had lung cancer and was surgically cured. I have had this heart scare and everything is OK. I can't help but wonder what God has in mind for me to do yet. Whatever it is, I hope I can do it well and with thanksgiving for all He has done for me. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and support.
My weight loss has been at a stand still. In fact, last Monday when I weighed in I had gained 1/2 lb. This has been quite a strange week, so I don't really expect a loss again. But, time to focus. Losing 2 lbs is wonderful. Congratulations.

Thanks Niteman, but I have about 90 pounds to lose before Nov. My daughter is getting married and I don't want to be a fat mother of the bride. Being older makes the weight come off slowly and being sick so much hasn't helped. But,I am determined and will not let up.

I was wondering the same thing. I continue to pray for her, but she hasn't posted. I hope she does soon.

Thanks so much for the encourgement. I so needed that!
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Grandmaloupy;

Regarding your 'only' losing 2 pounds since your last post in this thread... that's still about a pound a week. At that rate, a year from now you'll be 50 pounds lighter. That can't be too bad, can it?

I was kind of following this to see how the other lady made out with her cat scan, but haven't seen any news. Hope all went well.

I am sooooo sorry. I lost the paper I had this thread written on and just now found it. I hope some of you are still around. I will look for a reply in my mailbox.
I have only lost 2 pounds since I last posted and had another cold. Gee...grandchildren can really make you sick as well as the loves of your life...LOL. We should be moving on the 1st of March, so will be busy cleaning the new house and getting setteled. That will burn up a few calories.
Have a great weekend and I hope to hear from you soon.
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Hi Linda, Well, I'm not really expecting to spend much time in the hospital, unless I need a bypass I suppose. I won't know anything more until Thursday when I have an appt at cardiology. In the meantime I've been trying to build up my strength by walking a little at the mall, and I'm considering tomorrow walking the track at the gym where I have a membership. I just never realized how weak I would feel after that bout with pneumonia!
Right now I'm focusing on my weigh in tomorrow morning. I doubt if I have lost anything since my appetite did come back this week, I just hope I didn't gain too much. But then when I do get to exercise, that should help take it off. When do you weigh in? Let's hope that we and Loupy show a loss this week. Good luck!

Kennabecka - how goes it? I was thinking of you this morning... when I was in the hospital for diagnostics it was a very long 6 days or so - I am generally what would be thought of as an active person, and for me to have to stay in bed except to go to the bathroom or take a shower was very, very difficult. At one point, we finally brought in my laptop and I was a much happier person - I can truly imagine how children feel.
Good luck this next week - we'll think about you and pray for your improved health - LindaK

Kennabecka,

I am so happy I could help. Anything visual that helps is wonderful. Keeping you in my prayers. Have a wonderful day and keep in touch.

Yes, Loupy, your suggestions for posting a picture were very helpful. This lighthouse is at Ponce de Leon Inlet in Florida, not far from where we vacation. It's beautiful and inspiring, and has been a real beacon of hope for seamen in the area. It's my beacon of hope right now also.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. It's reassuring to know others who have been through what I may have to. As I said before I do feel I am one of the luckiest people in the world, that the problem was identified, is treatable, and that we have the treatments that are available to us today. Thanks again.

Well, at least we know what it is and what to pray for. God is still in the business of miracles. He will heal you. Sometimes supernaturally and sometimes by using doctors and nurses.
Sorry that your vacation is put on hold, but better to get you fixed up and then you can have a wonderful time without worry.
Thank you LindaK for your experience and letting us know. It wonderful to know others have survived and now give much needed support.

I see you got to post the picture you wanted. Did I help or did you figure it out for yourself? I have another friend that loves lighthouses. I like your picture. So happy you could post it!

I will continue to pray for you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Hi Kennabecka - I had a 95% blockage in my LAD three (almost 4!) years ago, and they put 3 stents in. I was able to go home the next day (course the total time in was 8 days while diagnostics were taking place), and was actually back in my classroom 4 days later. I, too, was very very fortunate and aren't we lucky that stents exist. Every year I go in for echocardiograms, and it's hard to tell that I even had the surgery because my results are so good. Medicine, exercise, and keeping my weight down have worked very, very well for me.
We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts, and when I wear my red dress on February 3rd, I'll think of you.

Hi Loupy, Well I got my results today and I have an appt with a cardiologist a week from tomorrow. There is a blockage in the main artery on the left side of the heart which controls most of the bodily needs for blood, oxygen. Don't know what's in store, maybe stents, maybe bypass. Our trip to Florida has been put on hold for now. I'm still one of the luckiest people alive--this problem, as when I had lung cancer, were both found accidentally and can now be treated. It's much better to know what I'm dealing with than having it sneak up on me. I continue to ask for your prayers. Your support has been very gratifying. Thanks so much.

Re the edit icon: you are the only one who sees it by your post. I am the only one who sees it by my post. As previously mentioned, it is there for you to edit (add to, delete or correct) your own post.

I have hit the "edit" icon. Now this post will show that it has been edited.

You click on "My profile" and it will take you to your profile. Go to the bottom and it says something like add a picture. Click on that and it will tell you exactly what to do. It's fairly easy.

OK...I will wait until tomorrow for the test results. I am so happy that it was easy and fast. God does answer prayers...

I'll have to get a snap of my grands and post that too. My youngest granddaughter, 4 months, lifts my spirts like crazy. Had her for a couple of hours this morning. Seems like my day goes better when I see her...

Have a great day. Oh...just a suggestion. Take your measurements. I just did it after 6 months and I've lost 17 inches of fat off my body. I am sooooo very happy. Talk to you soon.

Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Loupy, How did you add the picture of the flowers to your message? I have a picture I want to add, but I cannot figure out how to do it. I've contacted support, but it's still not clear to me how you upload, then download by your message. Any hints? Thanks.

Hi Loupy, The test was easy, over in about 5 minutes and all I had to do was hold my breath a couple times--you know the regular cat-scan routine. I will not get the results til tomorrow, so I don''t know anything yet. Each day I'm feeling stronger, in fact I did a little ironing this AM. My son, daughterinlaw and granddaughter are coming for dinner tomorrow night. My granddaughter always lifts my spirits. Aren't grands just wonderful? I'll post tomorrow after I know something. Thanks for your support.

Gosh, you have lived all over the country!! I was born about 5 miles from where I live today. The farthest I have ever been from Fort Wayne was when I was in college in Indianapolis. I had a dream that once we retired we would get out to see a lot of the country. So far we've seen a lot of Florida and little else. But I do love it down there. Yesterday I joined a Valentine's Day Challenge to see how I do by that date. I haven't been in a challenge before so this is exciting. Last night I had a good night. It was the first night in a week that I was able to go all night without my nebulizer. The rest seemed very helpful. My stomach is still quite queasy, but I imagine that's the meds I'm on. That should improve next week when I am off them. Have a restful Sunday evening. I'll post tomorrow after my test.

I was born in San Bernardino, CA. in 1948. I grew up in Northern CA in Castro Valley. I married my first husband in 1971 and within a year we moved to Indiana. Stayed there 10 years...2 kids and then divorced and moved back to CA. Met my now husband in Jan of 1983 and we were married in Oct of 1983. (Love at first site by both of us...LOL) I have 2 children. My daughter who will be 32 next month and the mother of my 3 grandchildren. (She does everything backwards...had the babies and now is getting married. She knows that I disapprove of her lifestyle, but what can a mother do but love her child unconditionally. And my son, who is not married, is 29 and living with a gal we don't care for at all.
We lived in WA state for about 10 years so my DH could be near his family. I hated it there. But, I loved my MIL...she was the best. Anyway, we moved here to Arizona last Sept. to be closer to my children and grandchildren. And, I wanted to move somewhere I could see the sun almost all the time. And, I do get to see it almost all the time. I love the sun...LOL.
Sorry about the long story. but you asked...LOL.
Don't forget to let me know about the catscan on Monday. Have a wonderful day tomorrow.
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Were you born in Indiana? And where is it you live now? I see that you have a daughter getting married in November? Do you have other children? I have 3 sons ages 38, 35, and 28, 3 great daughters-in-law, and 4 beautiful grandchildren--a boy age 9, and girls age 7, 3, 1 1/2. They are truly the joy of my life, and my incentive to be healthy so that I can share more years with them. I am 65 years old. I'd like to hear about your family.

Wow...I lived in Franklin and Columbus Indiana for 10 years...sorry but left my ex there...LOL. I remember one winter where we had snow up to our waists. I don't mind the winters there...it's the tornado's I can do without. They really did scare me!!!!
I hope the catscan shows no excess plaque. I will be adding that to my prayer for you. So happy you are feeling a little better each day.
I don't think that the edit icon can be removed. It's there in case you see something you want to change in your message after you have posted it.
I visited Miami when we took our cruise. I loved it down there. I'm sure you will enjoy your time there.
Have a wonderful weekend. And please let me know what happens on Monday.

Each day I feel a little better. I still haven't regained my appetite, but what the heck, that's what I don't need so much of anyway. I live in Indiana, where today it's pretty mild, no snow on the ground, but no sunshine either. Indiana's winters can be bad but mostly they are just gray. My husband and I have a condo rented in Ormond Beach Florida, near Daytona, for the months of Feb., Mar, and April. We planned to leave here on the 28th of January, but now I'm not sure when we'll leave. Monday I'm having a cat scan of my heart to check on plaque in the aorta. If that doesn't amount to much, we still should be able to leave in a week or so. I really hope we can get to the sunshine soon. It does wonders for my mood. Thanks for your support. (By the way, how do I get rid of that EDIT notation after my message. I haven't been able to figure that out.)

Glad that you felt well enough to go out today. When I had the flu, I noticed that nothing tasted good. I just made myself eat a little soup or broth and a couple of crackers. I drank lots and lots of water. I am so happy that you are going to concentrate on getting well and then weightloss. You are one smart cookie...LOL. I'm sure you and I would be great friends. BTW...what state do you live in? I just moved to Arizona to be close to my daughter and grandchildren. I love it here. Hope to hear from you soon. Still praying for you.
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

Glad things went better for you today; I think you are right to focus on your health---sometimes we just can't work on things on all fronts at once, and we need to concentrate on what matters most.
You are in my prayers,

Today things went a little more smoothly. I was up more in fact went to the card shop to buy a card for my nephew's wife who just had a masectomy. That little trip tired me out. My stomach is upset, nothing tastes good or sounds appealing, but I think that has a lot to do with the meds I am on. I just have to remember that each day I am getting better, and thank God for the progress I'm making. I can always deal with the weight problem later.

Thank you for your kind words. After I reread my message I thought I sounded a little over dramatic. I certainly do know that I have a lot of good things going for me, and everyone of us has some bumps in the road. You are absolutely right, forget the weight loss for now, get healthy, then get back on it. You sound like someone I would love to have for a friend. I'll keep posting my progress as time goes on.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that your had to go to the hospital and are having such problems. I will pray for you. You have been added to my prayer list. I had that darn flu and upper respiratory infection for 4 weeks. Just got back to being myself about a week ago. Stop with worrying about the weightloss and concentrate on getting well. After you get off the meds, the weight will come off again. YOu need to take care of you first. Get your medical problems out of the way first and then resume the weightloss. I will keep a close eye on this thread to see when you will be feeling better. Lots of prayers are coming your way. Feel Better soon.
Blessings and hugs,
Loupy

These are the golden years? Oh I need some support tonight. I started SP about a week and a half ago, and felt I was off to a very good start, then things changed. Sunday night I had to be transported to the hospital because of pneumonia, this on top of my COPD, and minus a part of a lung removed 4 1/2 years ago for lung cancer (which thank God has been declared surgically cured.) Of course while in the hospital I was put on mega doses of prednisone and antibiotics. We all know what Prednisone does, and I have already seen a 3 pound weight gain. While I have been a pretty regular exerciser--at least 3 days to the gym each week--that too has been put on hold. In addition, Monday I have to have a catscan of my heart since plaque in the aorta and coronary area has shown up. Please, I ask your prayers and any suggestions on how I can keep working on my goals. Thank you in advance.
