| Thanks for the kind words. I am doing great as far as tracking my calories and such. Exercise is my Waterloo. I have fibromyalgia and from what I am told exercise is the best thing but in the winter my old bones just ache and want to curl up on a couch after work. I am trying to walk at lunch though. So I guess that is, no pun intended, a step in the right direction. I am not giving up this time.

Today is my first day. My sister told me about this website and I am hoping that this works for me; she lost 7 pounds in the last week or so. I never seem to make it to meetings, have a hard time figuring points but the tracking here is really great. I just had my 62nd birthday and would love to lose 40 pounds by July for my 32nd wedding anniversary. Wish me luck.

I started on this site last week too, I was reading this thread and was interested in all the people that are losing weight with an upcoming 50th birthday. I thought I was being original, I turn 50 on June 16th and have a goal to lose 35 lbs by then. None yet (of course) but I am eating much better and less, and exercising much more.
Just keep trying a little at a time, every day. Doing well at food is a great first step. You can do it! A little at a time, we are in this for the long haul, right?

So great to hear from so many positive people. I am excited to get this journey going. I did pretty good today on the food intake, but I had to work till late and just got home. Long day. I am doing some stretching to at least move the bod a little before I hit the sack. Got to get up early and do it again tomorrow.
Anyway, thanks again for all your support!

This is my first day also. I was using fitday.com, but heard about this website and it looks like there are more resources for me here. I will be 50 in July. I started trying to eat healthier and get more exercise a year ago. I've lost some weight and am definitely more toned, but I still have a long way to go.
I really believe you'll stick with it only if you really want to. You just have to make up your mind that it is of utmost importance to you. If you fall off the wagon, so to speak, you just get back on.
Good luck to you!

Welcome to Sparkpeople. I consider this the best website on the net. I got really serious about my weight with my upcoming 50th birthday and have lost 24.5 lbs in 2 months. Just take everything one meal at a time and one moment at a time and plug away at your goals slowly. Don't forget the great big pats on the back for success and don't kick yourself when you're down. Just keep plugging away.
This sites has all kind of great information and some the message boards are great inspiration and some are hillarious.
Congratulation on starting, you're already ahead of a lot of people.

With your busy program, make sure you take time to eat healthy, where you don't get overly hungry, and eat the wrong foods.
Got to make time to exercise... in order to lose inches and become stronger.. healthier.
You can do anything, that you set you mind toward doing...I wish you success

Well, here I am. First day on the site. So far it looks good; lots of info and resources. I have to admit - there is no reason for me to NOT stick with it. I work so many hours during the day at my job and then I attend classes a couple of nites a week. It seems that my physical fitness is the last thing on my list of things to do. I've gone from fit to fat in the last 15 years. It is very hard to face. I hope I can get hooked up with a support group to help keep me motivated and on track.
I'd love to hear from anyone who is just getting started or who has a success story to motivate me!
Chow, L
