you CAN redeem your points! um....from yourself.
Why not rip a page out of a catalog that has that outfit you want, but can't quite fit into, and hang it on your wall with a big sign that says "I will buy this for myself as soon as I get 10,000 spark points". Hey, that way you will WIN something that you really like to wear (even more than a t-shirt?). Or reward yourself with a pedicure (buy a gift certificate and keep it in an envelope until you earn it).

Yeah, but you can win cool stuff like water bottles and T-shirts.
Have you won your sparkpeople t-shirt?

I like the spark points for the competition but I am just glad the site is free. That is reward enough for me.

BISHOPSRING,
I don't think SparkPeople could afford to give away T-shirts when they have so many free members. On the other hand, selling T-shirts that you have to reach a SparkPoint minimum to qualify for might be a revenue generator, not to mention free advertising.

| It is all good and well, but some of us live outside the US so for me the points are enough motivation to keep me on track.Points for a day well done.

| That would be cool to have something. Maybe even get some sponsors (health related) to hand out gift certificates or coupons. Even if it took a lot of points, it would be cool!

My employer is using them to reward us. If we get 900 in the first quarter, we get to select either a $25 gift card or $25 off our health insurance cost. If we get 1200 in the first quarter, we are entered in a drawing for a $25 gift card.
I understand that probably most people in SP are probably not there in conjunction with a corporate wellness program. I think it is a nice thing my employer is doing for us. I do not think I would have found SP otherwise.

| I agree, it would be nice to know that I could redeem them for *something*. Even if it does take, say, a million points to get a t-shirt ... that's motivation enough for me! Maybe just because it's a goal to really look forward to.

I like spark points for motivation, but lately I have not been paying too much attention to them as I am usually on the site to enter my information and read the articles.
But sometimes if you read an article already, you really can not get points for it, and now that I have read several articles, unless new ones show up my points will not go up there.
There should be a t-shirt at like 25000 or 50000 points or something. Just as a way of appreciation and long term use of the website, plus its advertising in a way.
I love this website, its changed my lifestyle.

| i just have to say that i love sparkpoints. I am a person who needs a reward and i love collecting points. i like that the points are also connected to education. . . leading one to a true life style change. I think spark people is the best!

| Thanks for explaining about the spark points. I wondering the same thing, "what are they for?, do we redeem them?" They really are a good motivator. I find myself trying to find ways to get more points--heck I even try to get in more walking just to add to my cardio to get points!

B,
SparkPoints are a tool for personal motivation, to encourage you to use all aspects of the site. Some people like the friendly competition associated with the leaderboards too, but you do not redeem SparkPoints for anything.

| Can they be redeemed for something if you get enough? Or is it just motivation to see your number get higher. In otherwords, what are SparkPoints for and why do I want them?
