Thank you so much 2FITMOM. That makes it clear once for all!
Thou I have posted some recipes in beg of last week and still not there. I wonder why?
This are two examples:
Cottage chesse, cranberry and arugula sandwich - 385 cal
broiled vegetables Roll-up - 212cal
I would need this as I use them to share with my family at least! And makes it easier to input the log.
Thank you, Marilena

| I am a moderator on a cake decorating message board and this subject comes up often...A recipe verbatim is a violation. However, cooking methods and ingredients aren't, so if you have a recipe and you tweak the amount of salt or you change the spices or even if you cook it differently than a printed recipe...Any sort of modification to a written recipe changes it and removes it from a violation of the copyright. I don't know about all of you, but I very rarely follow a recipe to a T...so I am safe if I share anything! :)

Hi every one, I just found the answer. Today I was browsing the new recipes and I have found a recipe submitted by MADDY_AVENA. In the description she added "Adapted from Deborah Madison's vegetarian Cooking for Everyone".
There are some changes from the original recipe. We all do some changes, I believe from the recipes from our cookbooks. And I found this to be a very smart and fair way to both share a recipe and give credits to the author.
I am so happy to finally be able to share all my recipes! Thank you MADDY_AVENA! Marilena

| Correct, you cannot post an exact copy of a recipe you've taken from a copyrighted source.

| Hi Dave and everyone! I want to double check and make sure I am understanding the copyright rules. If we create the recipe in our kitchen we can post that recipe here? If we have made a recipe that was printed in a cookbook, magazine, or on a website we can not post it here?

| Yes, you can go to your Recipe Box page on SparkRecipes.
|
|
|
|
| Is there a way to "un-share" a recipe without deleting it?

| There is a "report" link on every recipe that you can use to report copyrighted recipes.
|
|
|
|
| I've noticed that some people have plagiarized recipes (from cookbooks that I own). They are taken verbatim from the source and no credit is given to the author. Is this acceptable? Is there any way to report it?

| Yes, you can enter and not share.

|
| what about entering them and not sharing? I have a couple recipes that I make that I'd like to input and have on my tracker. I entered one but haven't shared it hoping that it avoided the copyright issue.

| We ask that you not post any recipes under copyright, even if you have permission. They would actually need to give SparkPeople permission and not you....our laywers wouldn't like having to do that for a ton of recipes. Sorry!

I was wondering how it works with the copyright for the recipies? Do I need to call the publisher of each book to ask for permision, or it is considered as a public good and...? Or I can just state the source and it is ok.
Could you please help?
