I bought my dress a couple months ago. Our wedding is not until April, so I have a while. I thought for sure that I had gained too much weight and it wouldn't fit, but I tried it on yesterday and it fits fine! I was pleasantly surprized. I still could lose some (especially around my boobs!!) and make the dress look better. But it is beautiful.

Wedding Date April 4, 2009

I bought my dress 2 weeks ago. My wedding is actually Dec 19, 2009 so I have alot of time to go. I bought a smaller size... an 8, so I can have the motivationt to fit in it for the wedding. I went the other day with one of my bridesmaids to try on the same dress (mine is being ordered) and I COULDNT ZIP IT! I gained 4lbs last week because of my high stress job and some other things going on, which i hate making excuses but its true. I realized yesterday that I had gained 17 lbs in one year and now i am afraid that my weight loss will end up backfiring...

I've been having the same dilemma. I bought my dress at David's Bridal in January and it fit perfectly at the time. However, over the course of the winter, I gained like 15 lbs. I have been workng hard to try and lose the weight. A couple of weeks ago, when I tried it on, it fit, but it was a tight squeeze. But as of Monday at my weekly weigh-in, I was only a pound above where I was when I bought it...and I plan to lose a bit more in the 36 days I have remaining before the wedding. It should be quite comfortable by then.

I am getting married in October of 2009, and am pretty determined to get healthy by then. I have held off buying the dress for that specific reason. I was recently in a wedding, and we bought the dresses quite a while ago. I ordered a size smaller than what fit at the time, and as we got closer to the wedding, it was too big. I can't say for sure it was two sizes too big, but too big to wear as is. I had it tailored, but I have to tell you . . . it just didn't look right. If I had the money, I would have bought another dress.

I am trying to wait until I lose another big chunk of weight to buy THE dress, but I have to say that I wouldn't be too upset with myself if I had to buy a second dress because I lost too much weight!

we were originally wanting like a year from this weekend actually but now we're thinking sometime in 2010...i'm pretty dead set on the style...i've seen it on small and big girls a like so i'm not too concerned about that, so who knows...I hope they will exchange it if need be, but I think one of the loops in the back's seams came undone so we were going to have that altered whenn we did the other alterations so it probably won't be returnable...
I'm going to worry about it when the time comes...I'd rather be out the money than be 40 pounds heavier and unhealthy

I got my dress at David's, as well. And while they say that all sales are final, if you simply need the same dress in a different size, they'll exchange it for you as long as you haven't altered the dress or removed the tags.
If it was a one of a kind or bought from the sales/clearance rack, maybe they can't do anything.
2 sizes sounds reasonable. Much more than that, and the integrity of the dress would probably be compromised. And who knows, if you really did lose that much weight, perhaps the dress would look and fit you totally differently ... and a different style might even look better.
When's your wedding??? 2010?

Ok so I bought my dress in March. It was a great fit at the time. I have a feeling it no longer fits because I probably have put on 15-20 pounds since then. I haven't tried it on recently because it is in my mom's closet and I no longer live at home. I want to lose 30 pounds by Christmas (already have lost 9 so 21 to go) after that I want to re-examin my situation and goals...I may need to lose more to be healthy we'll see. My dress (according to David's Bridal) can be taken in 2 sizes. Soooo the big question is, will it fit in a year to 18 months. It may possibly be too big. It's too late to take it back. Do you guys think my dress maker/tailor will be able to take it in more than 2 sizes if need be? Maybe some rich benefactor will pay for me to get the same dress in a smaller size if that day comes and it doesn't fit. lol
