The 30 Day Shred is a Jilllian Michaels program. It's tough, but I've lost several inches this month so it's worth it! It's a circuit workout. She does 3 circuits which consist of 3 minutes strength training using 3 lb dumbbells, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs. So in a workout you do the warmup, 6 minutes circuit 1, 6 minutes circuit 2, 6 minutes circuit 3, cooldown. It will kick your butt. You do this every day for 10 days for level 1, then move on to level 2 for 10 days, then finally level 3 for 10 days. No rest days in 30 days, unless you feel you need one. Some people do this for 30 days and move on to another DVD. Other people will take 2 weeks or longer to do each level before moving on. It's all personal preference.

I think 30DS would be good to do before attempting Insanity or P90X. I'd like to try those eventually but I know I couldn't keep up with them now.

There is a 30 Day Shred (An All About Jillian Michaels Team) spark team and it's awesome. If what I told you about the workout gets you interested, check out the team. Before I started the workout, I did a lot of reading on that team page and gained a lot of useful info, people's results, inspiration, etc.

Karen, What is the 30 shred? I have P90X and Insanity - I'm not anywhere ready to do them again . . . Looking to switch it up a bit. I have an old tape (yes tape) Rebook step - LOVE IT . . . but not sure my body is ready for that yet either LOL

ENOUGH13, way to go! I need to get back on my elliptical. I have been doing the 30 Day Shred this month. When I tried to also do the elliptical for 20 min per day, it pulled a calf muscle so I stopped the elliptical. I've still been doing the DVD and only have 3 more days left of that program!

I agree with you, there's nothing like a good sweat!

It's going to take every ounce of my energy today but I'm coming to use the elliptical as soon as the school bus leaves. Goal is 10 minutes but 15 - 20 would make me really proud


Update - can't believe it - 30 minutes. I owe it mostly to the fact I hadn't watched the premier of Private Practice yet. Watching it I was able to not focus on the time, sweat and pain LOL

Tomorrow maybe grey or scandal since I won't get to watch both before passing out tonight.

I've been doing the 30 Day Shred since Sept 1st, so today was day 22 (day 2 of level 3). I'm losing inches more than pounds. That's ok though, since I'm getting smaller!

Not a resident yet but sneaking in . . . I am very excited to say I did 27 minutes on the elliptical trainer with only two 5 minute breaks. That is an improvement. Tomorrow I'm sneaking back in again . . and the day after that until I have my own resident entry key.

i'm new to 170ville.

today i've done some strength training. up to this point i've mainly been concentrating on cardio (i signed up for a half marathon in May that i'm working towards)

However a few days ago I also signed up for a Dirty Girl Mud Run with some friends so i know I need to get some upper body strength to tackle some of the obstacles.

Today I did bicep curls, triceps extensions, triceps kickbacks, upright rows, and lateral raises. I also did some ab work. AND, i'm TRYING to get to the point of being able to do pushups. I'm doing them on my stairs now to build up to doing them on flat ground. I did 2 sets of 10.

I still plan on doing cardio at some point today....just haven't yet.

60 min of Circuit Weights! GRRRRR!

Yesterday was INSANE! She made us do 3 sets of 30 push ups... I was only able to do like half (and they were knee push ups too!)

I love staying in shape... 721 fitness min so far this month... a record for me! Shooting for 1,000...
