Walked the 6 floors in my condo this morning, as it is pouring rain. A group of us walk the length of the floors on rainy days. Some do the stairs as well. Takes about a half an hour.

I bought a watch off of the shopping channel about a year ago. I never did use it, just tossed it in my junk drawer, thinking it looked too big and clunky to wear. Today I spotted it while looking for something else.

I strapped the watch on my wrist at 7am and set the time. Got company coming in a week and decided to start spring cleaning. From one cleaning job to the next by noon I was pooped out. Ate lunch which gave me a burst of energy and I walked down to the community garden to do some weeding. About an hour later, black storm clouds rolled in and spits of rain started, so that ended my time in the garden today.

To make a long story short, this is what that watch recorded in 12 hours of movement today:

CALORIES BURNED = 4,592
MOVEMENT BY HOW MANY STEPS WALKED = 61,212
KILOMETRES WALKED = 4.5

I found this so amazing, will definitely be wearing that watch every day!

Moving furniture around in a spare bedroom, today, still haven't finished re-organizing though almost done. My work background before I retired was in the interior design field, thus I am for ever changing my rooms around. Plus spent two hours walking in a big box hardware store. today My back is telling me to rest, I am propped up with pillow's behind me on my bed with my laptop. I am plum pooped out! That's my exercises for today.

I haven't exercised since I got home. I did try to go for a walk a few times, but I didn't get more than 100 metres before my back gave out. I know that this is the result of two forty-plus hour journeys, and two weeks of carrying a baby. I'm just taking it easy at home for now, doing a bit of light garden and housework, in the knowledge that all will be well in a week or two. Then I can get back to a good exercise routine.

Today I awoke up at 5am, gee wiz! I couldn't fall back to sleep, so hopped out of bed. Checked what block buster sales were on the shopping channel, as I ate my breakfast on my sofa. Nothing beckoned me to part with my monies this morning. So turned off the TV.

Put on some old rags I wear, to clean. I planned to do some heavy cleaning chores. Started in cleaning my larger deck. All for one reason to find my step ladder buried under several winter vinyl tarps covering , summer furniture and decor paraphernalia.

11:30 am my daughter called asking me if I wanted to go out for lunch and do bit of shopping,
Yes, an escaped from the dirty ol' deck is what I needed! I told her.

We were on the hunt for "Lemon Shine". There is only one store my city that sells a product "Lemon Shine" . It is used to remove calcium deposits on the inside of dishwashers. We have hard water in my city, which can disposit dark staining on inside of dishwasher walls, over time. The stains are not harmful but looks ugly. It is only product we have found that removes the mineral deposits.

I got my deck turned up side down, though did find my step ladder. Left the mess and went shopping with my daughter. While in the store I said to my daughter, I really need a dry /wet Vac to thoroughly clean the large deck floor.

Hours later, daughter dropped me off at home, pulled everything out of the dry/wet vac box to make sure all the parts and instructions were intack. Then leaves. I was exhausted and glad she left, as I went back to bed for a little snooze! Will be cleaning my larger deck tomorrow, when I get enough nerve to turn on that new machine!

I've been moving boxes from the top floor down to bottom floor. A total of 28 steps down and 28 steps up. I was surprised at the number of calories just 30 minutes of this activity works off. Had to google something that would give me a calorie estimate to put into the tracker.

I've been doing this for a week now and was wondering why I was ravenous in the evenings.

Ann, it sounds like yesterday was a good day for you, movement-wise. Actually, it sounds kind of idyllic, just walking to your garden, doing a bit of work there, strolling on to the market, etc. Seems like country life at its best.

I can empathise with you on the arthritis thing. It really is a pain. No, really! It makes movement so difficult, and yet it is so important for us to move!

This morning I took the dog for a slightly longer walk than I had been over the past few weeks, now that I'm feeling a lot better. I did run for about 100 metres, uphill, but then my daughter phoned so I talked to her for the rest of the walk. I'm thinking that I'll go out now for another short walk/jogbefore I get stuck into my work.

Yep, I'll do that. I'm glad I came onto this thread because it has motivated me to move some more!

Any type of movement counts for exercise in my noggin! Today I tackled cleaning my small deck, since it seems the weather is improving. Then I walked down to the community garden, which is not far, just behind my condo, from there I walked to the grocery store for fresh salad greens for the week.

It's movement of any kind I try to do everyday, which lately the arthritis is having a good time with my bones. Trying to ignore it. Swather the joint pain relieve cream on every morning, swallow arthritis pills, every morning to keep the pain at bay. If I didn't do that I would have problems walking, let alone any type of stretching exercise. Tomorrow plan to tackle my large deck, that will be an all day job. Got to get things spic an span expecting out of town friends for a few days at the end of the week..

Finally, today, I felt like I was getting my energy back. I've only been for three short walks - one of ten, the other two of five minutes - but I didn't feel like I was having to drag my body around. When I walked in the forest I even managed to break into a few little sprints, which made me feel good.

When I was young I loved running. When my kids were small I would spontaneously run when I had the chance. From the house to the car, from the car to the shop. For a couple of years we lived just fifty metres from a little corner shop. If I needed milk, or bread, or some basic item, I would run to the shop and back. But my then-husband told me to stop as it wasn't 'ladylike.' So, I did.

Fast forward several years, and I'm a single parent, working full-time as a pharmacy technician. Twice a day I had to deliver prescription medication to some of our patients. It took about an hour to do the whole route, and I was always aware of the rest of the staff, back at the pharmacy, perhaps struggling to manage with one less pair of hands. I soon found myself running from the car to the house and back to the car. One day one of our patients spied me vaulting over a fence. He took great delight in coming in the next day to tell my colleagues about my 'gymnastic displays.'

I began to put on weight and, without my noticing, the running came to a natural halt. Then, about six years ago, I lost about 35lbs, and I suddenly found myself breaking into a run again! Alas, the weight came back, with interest, and the running stopped. But now, I've noticed that I'm at it again! This time I'm determined that nothing will ever stop me from running. I'll get more weight off and I'll keep it off.

I feel a goal coming on. When I've lost another ten pounds I'm going to start training for a 5k. 'How do you like them apples?' - as my husband would say:)

Well done, everyone who is exercising and posting about it! My routine has gone down the tube, due to family events plus sickness, but I'm looking forward to getting back to it.

I've never posted on this thread before, but I think it will help me set goals and achieve them, so thanks to all who have posted and given me some much-needed motivation.

My exercise today consisted of working in my community garden plot. A few of the regular gardeners were scattered about working in the garden plots. It is a friendly atmosphere. We have a couple picnic benches, so we took a break with our thermos mugs of coffee and gabbed for awhile around noon, since we hadn't seen each other since last fall.

The usual fifteen minute walk in the park today, followed by a fifteen minute swim. When I got home I did a lot of physical work around the house and garden too, so I'm counting that.

Just a 15 minute walk in the park so far today. However, I am just about to put my Strictly Fit DVD on and see how I get on with that. It's been over a year since I used it so I can't even remember any of the routines. Still, moving is moving.

Same today as yesterday - brisk 15 minute walk in the park, and then 15 minutes in the pool. Tomorrow I plan to walk again but won't swim, as the pool will be busy on Saturday. Therefore, I'm planning to do at least 15 minutes of my Strictly Fit DVD.

Today I finally got back to exercising after two weeks of sickness. I walked in the park for fifteen minutes but didn't do the exercise machines. Then I went to the pool and swam ten lengths. So, about half an hour in total, which I'm happy with, for my first day.

Initially, I had planned on doing some of my Strictly Fit DVD this afternoon, but have decided against it. I want to monitor how the swimming is working for me first. Tomorrow, if I am not too sore, I will add the DVD. If I'm aching, I'll just do the same for a few days, to build up my strength. After all, this exercise thing is not a race!

I've been sick for a couple of weeks so haven't been exercising. However, I usually do walking and exercise machines in the park. Recently started aquafit, and now hoping to swim at least a few times a week at the pool. I also have 'Strictly Fit,' which is the Strictly Come Dancing fitness DVD. I haven't used it for about a year but plan to start this afternoon, if only for five minutes.

i belong to a local Community Recreation Centre. I go to an aqua size class on Friday mornings. 3/4 of an hour then I do pool laps, for 10 minutes, before the next class starts.

I walk 2 miles a day 3 days a week depending on the weather, other wise I use my treadmill but I find it boring.

I also use tension resistant bands for a toning workout - 10 minutes twice a week.

Today was a perfect day for outdoor work. After gardening for about an hour I took off on a 2 mile jaunt. My heart rate monitor says it was work but it felt like pure joy in the sunshine.

I've got great intentions but no motivation. Every morning this week there's been a new box of chocs in the kitchen, so I've been scoffing chocs for breakfast. Ridiculous.... There were gorgeous Lily O'Brien ones there this morning. I ate at least 8 of them, feel sick now.
Tomorrow's a new day.

Hi Noeleen
I have a pedometer somewhere at home. Must dig it up and dust it down! I've got a mini-stepper thingie at home too, stuffed under a bed. And a treadmill that's stuck at an incline of 10%, almost like Mt.Everest.... And don't even start me on the the 10-pack of fitness dvds I bought 2 weeks ago (still unopened) and the ab roller that's dismantled and under the same bed as the mini-stepper)....
GROAN!

message from NJBIOGRAD

I have been at SP for 5 weeks now. I plan on changing my schedule this week. I have been a bit lax, walking, doing a little elliptical and scattered strength training. I'm switching to M,W,F strentgh and I am going to do the biggest winner workouts for cardio on the alternate days. On the weekends, play time with my puppy. Scott

275.5 - 5% 13.78 = 261.7 done
261.7 - 5% 13.09 = 248.6 done
248.6 - 5% 12.43 = 236.2

Well, no exercise for me today, or for a few days... i am sick as a dog and on orders to stick close to bed.

.. this is wha I get for dancing for about 2 hours total on both nights this weekend with some walking on top of that, when I already felt not so shiny on friday *facepalm*

Well, it is still early for me, but UI have to go *glamgleamfgleam* about the fact that yesterday, in addittion to walking for a total of 45 minutes to go from one place to another, I also played indoor soccer for the first time in... 6 years at the very least 0_0 (got outr ass kicked 10-9 but we will do better next week!)

TOday i foresee alking for 15 minutes, and that is about it - so sore today, don;t fancy anything very active.
