I hope that last week's challenge motivated you to eat more veggies...I love when I choose veggies instead of other snacks...I can eat so much more without having all the calories!

I was thrilled to see so many people taking part in the challenge for the week! Hope you all join in again this week!!

Here is the new challenge...
1. Give your self one point for each ounce of water you drink emoticon each day...example...if you drank eight 8 oz glasses, give yourself 64 points

2. Give yourself one point for each minute of exercise emoticon you do...example...if you exercised for 30 minutes, you get 30 points

3. Give yourself one point for each serving of veggies emoticon you eat...example...if you ate a half cup of carrots and a half cup of broccoli...you get 2 points!

4.Give yourself one point for each Sparkpeople article you read...if you read 2 articles in one day, you get 2 points.


please copy from the salads down...then paste into a post in the record keeping thread...also, when you record your results...Please go to your original post and click on 'edit my post' and keep adding to that one post...it makes it much easier for me to keep track of everyone's numbers...Thanks and good luck!

Give yourself the same number of points each day as the points you get on the SP wheel.

Give yourself 1 point for each day that you stay witin your calorie range.


You don't have to worry about adding your numbers up, I have a spreadsheet that I put your info on and it does it automatically!

Hi everyone,
I think I'm well on my way with the water and exercise. This was the best week for sleeping so far in years. I think it really has to do with my food choices and getting my exercise in. I planned on trying a few new recipes, but didnt get around to it this week, the good thing is I already know what I'll be making next week. Hope everyone is having a gerat wkend!

This always confused me when I am tracking it. I guess that since it turns over the week on Sunday, I count my sleep on the day after I go to bed...in otherwords, I count Saturday night sleep on Sunday and so on for the rest of the week.

This was the hardest week for me so far...don't really know why other than that we went out to dinner Tuesday night with family and I ate more than I should have, the thing is, I still ate 'good' food, so I didn't go over my range...I was amazed. I guess it was the fruit platter that I had for dessert while everyone else was eating cake and ice cream!! I didn't feel deprived, either, it was good!!!

Give yourself 3 points for each day that you track your food on SP. Even if you don't track every meal, as long as you are using the tracking tool, give yourself 3 points.

Give your self 5 points for each day that you get your healthy 7 hours of sleep.

You don't have to worry about adding your numbers up, I have a spreadsheet that I put your info on and it does it automatically!

Good Sunday Morning...time for a new challenge. I would like to keep the water and cardio challenges the same and just add a different one each week. If anyone has any ideas for a challenge, let me know... I am open to ideas! I have cut back soooo far on my diet soda! I feel great about it! The last two weeks, I have gotten all my water in for the day and only had about the equivilent of 2 cans of diet soda! As I have probably told you before, I work for a fast food company and usually drink several diet sodas a day! I have replaced all that diet soda with water!

Okay, here is the challenge...I know there is a ton of great information out there in all the SP articles and I need encouragement to start reading so the new challenge this week will be to read a sparkpeople article. We will get 2 points for each SP article you read this week. Even if it is one you have read before and are just reading it again.

Happy Sunday!I enjoy doing this challenge. I am not competitive by nature, and don't feel I am competing with the team challenges. I am self motivated by challenging myself, if that makes sense. I think we are al doing great!
Missy I apologize that you had to do my math for me. I realized this morning I hadn't done it. I think I was calculating while you were posting results. I really appreciate the your time here.

Thanks Missy, I drank soda and coffee before this challenge. Not diet soda either. I liked my coke! I should be losong weight just because I haven't had coke since I joined Spark People, but so far it hasn't made much difference except for one very important fact, I don't think I could drink it now. Thinking about it kind of makes my nose crinkle. I do have the occasional coffee now depending on the day, and I have to admit I miss it.

I have always been a water drinker...hope I am not repeating myself, but we always had water to drink with supper when I was growing up. We had soda in the house, but we drank milk at breakfast and for snacks and soda whenever, but with a meal...always water. I am so proud of myself cause I have cut way back on the diet soda.. and replaced it with water. i was out to eat for dinner two nights this week and drank water both times. I work for a fast food franchisee so I spend my days traveling from one location to another and it is such a habit to drink diet soda all day. We sell bottled water, so I started getting that. The Crystal Light or WW mix ins really help me. When I get bored with plain water, I add the flavor and it is much easier to drink. I also buy a big bottle of water instead of diet soda when I stop a a convenience store for a pit stop.

Okay team!!! Here is the challenge for the week...it will run from Sunday thru Saturday. I tried to pick some things for which we earn Sparkpoints. I hope these motivate us all.

1.Drink your water!....give your self one point for each ounce of water that you drink per day...my goal is at least 8 glasses for 64 oz a day

2.Get cookin'...Give yourself 2 point for every Sparkpeople recipe that you cook

3.Get physical!...Give yourself on point for each minute of cardio you do...my goal is at least 30 minutes a day

I will post the tracking form on the record keeping topic and all you will have to do is copy and paste it to your post. Incase we have anyone new joining in...after you copy and paste, to record your results, all you have to do is hit 'edit my post' each day and update the post.

That's why I was trying to keep it simple, I know people do challenges from many groups.

Okay, team...I came up with a challenge and it is pretty simple. Just work on the three team goals:
1. Drink at least 8- 8oz glasses of water a day
2. Do 30 minutes of cardio a day
3. Eat at least 5 servings of fruit/veggies a day

Keep track on the other message..I will post a chart for you to copy and paste.

One really important part is to join the team goal and post your results. Our ultimate goal is to push PA higher in the state rankings...we are number 8 right now and with the numbers we have, we can make a difference and get healthy in the process!!!!

I set up these challenges again in the hopes that people will bite...lol They are pretty basic, things that we have to do in order to lose some weight, why not compete against each other to encourage ourselves to get more done for the week...its a week to week basis, So each week we will start over..It starts this coming Sun and will run till sat, that is when all your numbers have to be where they belong I will add them up saturday night or early Sunday, then i will post our winners 1s,t 2nd and 3rd..What ya think...weigh in is this friday...

this Weeks challenge will be to first weigh in..

the it will be
cardio
strength
calories burned
spark points and water...

for cardio its minutes...

strength its the amount you do
c
calories is how many you burn

spin the wheel and see what number you hit

and well water the amount of glasses you have drank throughout the day...

you jot down the number daily and add those up at the end. then add again for grand total...

as far as weight in will weigh in on Sunday again and if you lose 1 pound or 2 you add three zeros to that..

if u gain u will add three zeros to that
and if you stay the same. nothing added..

well I think i have ti all down, let me know if you ladies are interested and I will post the challenge and it starts today...Thanks

Missy when we get more people I might do that but for now I am just doing them in the sight pointed whom ever would like to join, but I will be back and forth just to see if there are more people that r willing to play..lol I know its hard when you don't have time but i usually have lots of time on my hands when my kids are in school...But i thanks you for your time and I will check in and see if there are n=more takers

I really appreciate the time you put into this, and I agree, I know I need something simple. The past month flew by without me doing the challanges much just because I didn't have time. I did workouts, but not always what the challenge was for. Maybe we just need a basic challenge for so much cardio and so much strength training so people can do what they want. I just need something to keep me motivated. Think I am going to get the dh to go for a nice walk today!

This next Sunday is the last of this weeks challenge ladies, i know you guys are a busy bunch but I cant do these if you guys cant give me a challenge to get those numbers up high, i know that you guys do what you can and things just come up, maybe I can think of something that is a bit easier to fit your life style.. hi Ok im glad that challenge was for 2 weeks. I was able to plug in some numbers today. I have to plug in cal intake and burned after church!! Thank goodness for the food tracker b/c I have HORRIBLE memory!!

Hey good job girl.. nice to see ya, Just to let you know for strength its what ever you do for strength, and its the amount you do. like I did 100 steps not like in stairs I did it in my step machine which i am trying to figure out if its cardio but just put it in as strength anyways cant have both ways right...lol hope you well in your studies r u going to be able to do it all, your an active lady I tell ya...Go for it girl lets go and make the move to lose this year is the year to get it off..lol

Missed the challenge this week, but I will try to get my info in next week. I was in Texas for a business meeting all week so it was very hard with the time frames to get any workouts in. I was so worn out yesterday that I didn't remember to post my numbers! Hope everyone had a great week. I will be on vacation for part of this week, but I will be doing lots of walking at the Philadelphia Flower Show and Longwood Gardens!!!

I am doing pretty good, I once did lent and that is how I took most of my drinking soda away...I am still going pretty strong got to get up out of this chair I have been trying to fill in the blanks in my minutes and stuff on the spark that is.. and have to add yesterdays stats...Keep it going girl your doing well...

Rose How have you been doing?? I am going strong so far. HAHA. My arm is sore from playing the wii baseball the other day but that hasnt stoped me yet!! I decided to add walking into my everyday routine on the way home instead of waiting for the bus to take me to the train. Im doing this for lent since I couldnt decide what to give up!! LOL

ladies take a good look at the challenges I changed two or erased them..no one here has the wii fit.for those that dont have a wii you can add your minutes there for a tape being tht its just cardio that i do both are cardio wii fit coach and wii fit...So a tape for the day is to be added or how many you do..lol

Tracey for those two boxing and stepper its the score you get, so maybe I will not add that to this challenge but will use it as minutes spent in the wii..let me take a look and see how to fix that one..

Rose what are you counting for the step and boxing? The amount of minutes on it or how many you did? I was counting the minutes spent on it. Ex step 30 min? or should I counted 2995 steps? Tracey

ok I'm still here, I just can't seem to post even when I do the exercise. I don't have a wii so I will do punches with a tae bo DVD and also another DVD for the wii coach or wii fit. and do the steps too. sounds like a great challenge. I'm still doing 100 crunches for another group so I will include them. kim

lol OK Tracey I am ready to get on track too lets do this then, we have plenty of time to get on track with two weeks in total for this challenge...we can take a break if you need but make those numbers get up there...time to track food too and burn baby burn...got to see whee is it that i am going wrong, know I didn't do too good with the food this week, I didn't have enough food, missed dinner or breakfast or lunch each day.. I need to eat to lose don't want to go back to that forget to eat syndrome....

Yeah I didnt do that great this week with the challenges either. I need this and I want to do it but I have found things that stop me from doing it and when I get time to do it its really late and then Im tired. I need to learn to put everything else last and put myself first. I cant not help my daughter with home work but those other little things need to wait. that is what Im going to do!! SO watch out Im back on track! (I HOPE)

ok I have already posted next weeks challenge this week was just not in the cards for me, I did move but it was cardio what i didn't have on for this week, but I am getting ready for next week ready and willing, back in the act, ready to roll..lol this week its time to track your food and how many cals your burning.. those that have the wii get down and those that dont improvise, do the stepper, how may you do and boxing how many you throw in punches and for wii coach, a tape will cover that and that would b minutes...

yeah that sounds fun. Maybe it will get me to use it more!! I have the fitness coach now. Ive tried it twice and I like it so far. The major problem I have is finding time to workout. I come home around 6ish but then Im helping my daughter with school work or household normal chores like doing the laundry etc. By the time I get to it, its already 11.

We dont eat together during the week. My daughter is with either my grandparents or my mom so they feed her at a normal time. I to eat when I get to my grandparents home around 5-530. My husband eats when I get home. So on the weekends I try to get us together but the tv is usually on unless a mood hits me to make them turn it off. We have a tv in the kitchen and in the next room. So somewhere someone is watching tv. Its a bad habit and a hard one to break.

Dont worry as long as you want to make up the challenges Im with you. If you want you could make them run longer? Would that make it easier for you?

Good morning Tracey and ladies if you out there lurking...lol

Glad that you had a good Valentines, it sounded pretty good to me if you were all talking and eating at the dinning room table that is a plus.. I promote that in my house and it works but there are time when that tv is on and my hun forget..but for the most part its a almost every day here at my house..thank God I remember when we didn't even know we had a dining room table...let alone people to eat wit..my poor child at that time, use to eat alone,, how terrible is that...

well as long as your wit me then I will get on the ball and try these for this week and see what happens..so far for today I am up but had ham last night and that always carries a load of salt and it was salty...onward girl...

Valentines day was ok. My husband and I dont really celebrate it anymore. I had to work this weekend but I brought home dinner and we all sat down together at the table with NO tv on and ate and talked to each other. Then we watched a movie Aliens vrs Predator 2 later on with our 100 cal.snack. All and all it was a nice night.

well there are the results ladies, I didn't get to add all my minutes being i didn't post them before 8:00 Valentines day, but its all good I tell ya.. not too many of us doing them these days but as long as I have ladies I will post new activity...I hope that you guys still got some umph going cause this week it will only be strength.. let see how well you all can do with those..

Up you won again man..but lets see how good you can do with this weeks challenge, go for it girl, your the champ when it comes to these challenges girl..woohoo and a hip hip hurray...

I finally got my wii fit and have been doing it since and a little bit of the other out door challenges, I have so much to move with I have to chose how I feel for the day...I also had such a great Valentines, how was it for you ladies...went out for dinner then came home to our gifts and there it was my wii fit and then we went to go rent a movie, get comfy and relax seeing,the movie..The perfect day with the perfect man.. I so love him, gives me what i want and tries so hard to please me he is a keeper...

ok lets try harder this week to get those muscles back in the act...have a great time with them and have a great week..

Awesome girl that is such a great idea, being they do over feed you at the restaurants...you could eat twice is right..Good for you trace..not tooo many of us here on the challenge and i haven't been doing too many of them being i have been sick and still am but not as bad...hopefully i will get a work out in...and I will right see ya guys later and have a great valentines..

Thanks!! I really didnt do any cardio today since my daughter is turning 13 today so we went out to dinner. I was good!! I ordered a chicken quesdilla and a side salad but asked for a take home dish and placed HALF of the meal in it before I dug in. emoticon
