All these walkers and exercisers are really inspiring me. I can't wait until I go to the city on Monday to get new runners. I couldn't find any here - it's a small town and they just didn't have my size.

I looked into a heart rate monitor that measures distance in miles and I quickly became overwhelmed. There are so many different opinions out there and articles I read said they aren't very accurate. PLUS, the one I liked was $400 and I just can't justify that expense. Anyone have any experience with these?

1. Over the weekend, add some cardio minutes each day.
No workout today - too busy. Had to work another shift but I'll be off for 3 days starting at 9 am Sunday.

2. Do strength training at least one day this weekend. Try to work in at least 15 minutes of strength.

SANDY - Not sure if you meant to make up a new word but I love it!!! Flusterated! Should be in the dictionary!

Don't worry about the weight gain. It takes a while for our bodies to adjust. The important thing is that we're developing new healthier habits.

I love all the healthy food your bought for yourself. Great job!

I'm just trying to get my eating plan in order and it is getting better but I'm not going to beat myself up if it's not perfect - I'm just going to keep trying to make healthier choices. Every healthy choice I make is helping.

I went to farmer's market today and got lots of healthy fruits and vegetables. I found some salad recipes on the SP site. They suggested if you don't like greens, add things you do like - blueberries, strawberries, cut up orange, slivered almonds...whatever makes it more appetizing. I'm gonig to expand my salad repetoire this weeked!

Unfortunately I am working again tonight but I absolutely promise to clean my counters and cupboards tomorrow. At least I have healthier food choices now.

*~* Weekend Challenges *~*

1. Over the weekend, add some cardio minutes each day.
Did 2 hour walk today and walked hard with abs tucked in...legs kind of sore now but thats good....walked 15142 steps...so proud of me!

2. Do strength training at least one day this weekend. Try to work in at least 15 minutes of strength.

3. It's a NO FAST FOOD weekend!
I haven't eaten any today and don't plan too

4. Check your fridge and pantry this weekend and make sure you have some healthy options. Week 3 is right around the corner. :)
I have healthy options but going shopping tomorrow to get more!

I survived the Color Run!! Barely....my friend was knitting & walking with bad knees & still was moving better than I. But that's OK...

I'm doing the Cincinnati one in October!!!!

2. Add some lunges to your day and 2 other exercises you don't normally do. Well again i have been a little lazy!!

I am so flusterated. I have been perfect. Keeping track of everything i eat and staying close if not on everything. Yesterday the scale jumped up 4 pounds and is still there this morning???
Its not like i have been starving so my body is protesting. I forgot to take my water pill a couple of days ago but you would think it would have come down by now.

1. Today park at the end of the lot, take the stairs, unload the dryer on piece of laundry at a time--whatever it takes to add those steps. 60 minute walk

2. Work those arms and shoulders. Start w/ the Dumbbell Lateral Raises www.sparkpeople.com/resource/exercises.asp
?exercise=74 and do 2 more exercises that focus on that upper body. Did 1 set of 12 raises, 1 set of 12 of biceps curls,

Did well with food today, great actually since I left my lunch and bought a lunch that was filled with 60% veggies…good choice made! Plus there is never food on my counters…only in the cabinet.

What is your favorite restaurant? Don’t really have one, I like to be open to new eating experiences

What is your favorite TV show? Can I have more than 1, I like them equally….Chopped, Iron Chef America and Cupcake Wars

None today. Got up early and ran errands until mid-afternoon. Then we had storms and tornado warnings so I haven't worked out. I'll probably just make it a rest day.

I'm just so darn tootin' happy to be off, I don't care what I do. After 9 am Saturday morning I am off for 4 whole days!!! My main focus is to work out at the gym, get a heart monitor/distance tracker, go hiking, get some new running shoes, organize my food, clean out my cupboards and counter, and SLEEP!!!!!!!!!! (I might treat myself to some new bedding too!)

M2FROSE - I laughed at your cookie story. I've done the same thing. I have come to terms with the fact that I am a grabber and will grab whatever is close by...BUT...I am a lazy grabber and won't go to great lengths to look in hidden places. LOL (I also have a terrible memory and forget that I've hidden things in the first place!!!)

OK, today is my day to be home, but I do have a load of towels in the dryer and I will unload them and carry them upstairs to linen closet one piece at a time when I sign off here.

2. Work those arms and shoulders. Start w/ the Dumbbell Lateral Raises www.sparkpeople.com/resource/exercises.asp
?exercise=74 and do 2 more exercises that focus on that upper body.

Today is my lower body workout, so I did several leg lifts and pilate based moves

3. Clean off those counters today. Put away ALL food so it's not tempting you.
emoticon This made me laugh. I once forgot that I had 2 boxes of Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies because I put them up in the tall pantry. They were there for 4 months--for me that's a record. As part of the decluttering of last week, I did clear my cupboards and have cleared my counter tops. Yay!

What is your favorite restaurant? I can't really say. Now that I've started cooking to be healthier, I prefer to eat at home.

Just running through. I know today is my weigh-in, but I forgot to weigh myself. Work is crazy right now. We have 4 major deadlines during the year, and Monday is one of them. I'm scrambling. I'll try and remember to post my weigh-in tomorrow, but I'll probably be MIA until Monday...unless I finish my work early, which has never happened...

DEB (123JAKE) – I use Cardiotrainer on my smartphone. It has lots of workout things on it but best of all it tracks your mileage as you walk. Another good one is RUNTASTIC. My hubby uses that one because he says the gps works a little better than the other one. But try them both if you have a smartphone. I have used CARDIOTRAINER for over a year and a half and I love it. Let me know what you think. Oh and great job on your miles for June. You’re rocking it!!! :)
And I did forget about Blueberries on yesterday’s challenge so thank you for the reminder. I'll try to remember it for next time lol….but that’s another food that I don’t like so I didn't think of it lol. Super picky eater here unfortunately. :)

Took the little 2 year old that I babysit for a walk around the block (it was a bit more than a block). He, I found out today, likes to run. So it was more like a light jog which was perfect. We'll be doing that more often. SO 60 MINUTES AT THE GYM PLUS THE LIGHT JOG WHICH PROBABLY WAS ABOUT 15 MINUTES. I haven't put it in my fitness tracker yet.

It was my upper body day but this whole week has just been out of whack with babysitting and hubby being home and my son sick. I will need to get more disciplined in order to keep up with my weight training goals. I want sexy arms like I had back in high school....or at least as close as I can get. ;)

No tempting food here. Only the good stuff in this house.

What is your favorite restaurant? Cheddar's (though we don't get to go very often because there just aren't very many healthy options that I like to eat)

What is your favorite beverage? Pepsi...but this is only as a once or twice a month thing now. I only drink water (with a variety of crystal light flavors) and milk.

Tomorrow's weigh in. Got my fingers crossed. I did a mid-week peak and I was down 2 pounds so I'm hoping that sticks for tomorrow.

Good morning BUlls,

I hope everyone is doing great and those pounds are leaving the barnyard. I miss the daily challenges and everyone. It is much easier with support and daily reminders to stay on track. So far so good! I'm right on track. It was really hard to go to the gym after work but I made myself and I'm trying to push myself to go further...AND I'm all ready to go when I get off work in the morning. Having everything ready is the key for me.

I tried a Bollywood video yesterday; I'm not ready for all that pulsing, but the rest of the dance was fun. I'm feeling it in my knees today, but that's ok. I still got some cardio and core strengthening done.

Only got 40 minutes today. I had planned on more but I'm sitting here now with some stomach/digestion issues so I think that's it for today.

Good afternoon everyone.

I have been out of town since Sunday and am leaving tonight for work. Linda - please count me as a maintain this week as I have not had access to the scale and won't until Saturday night when I come back home.

We hiked Jacob Lake - 2 miles moutainous terrain carrying my pack on Suday night; hiked about 2 miles near Lees Ferry off of the Colorado River carrying my pack; and hiked 4 miles yesterday at the Grand Canyon carrying my pack. My pack weighs about 10 pounds with water and snacks for kids. I got some nice workouts in.

June 2 - 2 miles
June 5 - 4 miles +2 = 6 miles
June 13 -3 miles + 6= 9 miles

Boy Deb, I'm really struggling with this. Too much time on the go. However, I'm not giving up my goal, I'll just have to work more consistently and see what happens.

My last post was incorrect it should have been 4, not 5.

*~* TUESDAY CHALLENGES *~*

1. Add 3 minutes to your planned cardio today!

I did 3 miles today.
Total for June so far: 18.6 miles
Goal for June: 50 miles

My midmonth goal (June 15) is 25 miles so I will need to do 6.4 more miles before Friday. It's do-able but I can't work out on Friday due to a meeting which means I have to do 3.2 miles a day Wednesday and Thursday - AND I'm working both days. YIKES!!!

2. Let's SQUAT! Do 10 squats followed by 2 more lower body exercises.

- I did lower body and core today. I swear I don't have a single ab muscle. The exercises are SO incredibly hard for me but I know I need to start somewhere.

3. Today when you sit down to eat. DO NOT bring any food (except your plate) to the table. This makes it hard to get 'just a little more' or to mindlessly eat while you are sitting at the table.

-My problem is the food I leave lying on the counter. I need to replace it with healthy food. I'll think about this.

4. It's time to show how incredibly good sports we are. Go visit 2 White Hawks and wish them a successful challenge.

- DONE!

AIMEE - I can relate to your OW! I am so sore from starting to work out with weights. I'm also struggling with my knee and shin splints. I'm going to go and research them as soon as I'm done here. I'm also going to get a new pair of runners on Friday. (payday!!)
