How's everyone doing? 7 more days....Overall, I'm okay with my progress, though more would have been nice (isn't that always the case). I didn't do well last night, but I'm motivated to be on target for "JUST" one more week.

Yesterday I was ready to moan about how my scale hasn't budged, and how I couldn't follow my own advice about ignoring said scale. Then by the end of the day, I tried on some pants that haven't fit and...they fit! Yay! I may have to wear them all the time though because this morning my scale was even more cruel. Silly scale.

Yes, even "bad" Zumba is still good!

I feel better without all the sugar in my diet and I think my clothes are fitting better, even if the scale refuses to encourage me.

I've heard nothing but good things about Insanity!

That was my thinking. It will probably take me the whole of July to work up the nerve to open the box! I was watching some of the videos on utube which scared me to death!!! LOL! But I watched it and was strangely drawn to it so we shall see! emoticon

I've heard nothing but good things about Insanity (except, of course, that it's insane). Perhaps July will be Insanity month for you!

My results are sluggish, though trying to remember that it's about how I'm feeling and the way my clothes fit over the number on the scale. Diet wise, the food I'm eating leaves me feeling good (even two bowls of cereal).

Thanks! The thing about Zumba if you do it ( even doing it badly) you sweat soooo much.

Don't worry about the cereal! emoticon could have been worse like you said!

All ok with you? Are you finding your getting your desired results?

I ordered Insanity ( Shaun T / beach body) on the weekend?!?!? emoticon must be bonkers!

20 minutes is STILL a good workout! You are on a great Zumba streak!

I ate two bowls of cereal late last night, which wasn't good - but better than two scoops of ice cream!

I know I'm late, but I'd love to join in the challenge. I also do the Zumba DVDs because I work full-time and have 3 kids, so I'm not exactly able to go to a class. I did 50 mins of Cardio

Zumba Gold is a program for anyone who wants a "less intense" regular Zumba class. It's been marketed mainly for older adults but it's really for anyone, including those who have had injuries, haven't exercised before, have limited mobility, etc. There are some older women at my church who approached me about having a class just for them (I"d just started a regular class there). I think it will be very fun.

I forgot all about it being winter for you! I noted your "other side of the world" location - short term memory.

Inches lost are more important than the number on the scale!

Good going with resisting that ice cream...!!

I know what you mean though, it's winter here and annoyingly cold and wet, and that really brings out the cravings for hot filling carb-rich foods like pizzas, cheesy pastas, breads etc, and its tough to go want fruits or salads in such weather!

Day 10 (wow!) zumba done, and feeling pretty good!! Barely a kilo lost (and the scale's refusing to reflect that today for some reason) but I think I've dropped some inches...

What exactly is Zumba gold btw?

The scale is completely uncooperative!

I had my Gold Training today so I was on my feet doing a lot of Zumba. I packed sensible snacks and resisted the urge to indulge, though it was really tempting!

The weather just got really hot again so somehow I have to ignore ice cream. But only 21 more days to go in the challenge! I'm pretty sure they will still be making ice cream in July.

That's great that doing the workouts at home works for you. One thing I like about that is you can always do it on your own schedule, be done with it early and showered (or not) and ready for the rest of the day.

Today is a rest day from exercise for me (tomorrow I have to go to an all-day training for my Zumba Gold license). However, it is not a break from eating well! Hopefully this weekend won't be too full of temptation. I do well until about day 14 of a new challenge, then I want something decadent!

Yeah, my hubby said the same thing, that I'm probably increasing muscle mass, I hope that's the case...

OMG I thought the Zumba Abs routine was ok, but I can feel the achy muscles today! :-)

Day 8 done, cardio routine...for some reason I was getting tired quickly today, but I stuck with it for the entire 50 mins (somehow.) lol...

Nah, if I plan on going for classes, I know I'll find some reason to miss... If I'm at home, I really have no excuse.... I know it sounds so weak, but I'm not the most motivated person on earth, and being at home, really there's no excuse, so will try sticking with it...

I know what you mean about the weekend, I end up overeating too! weekends=movies=snacks and popcorn and all kinda stuff :-/

Hopefully we'll remember that we need to post achievements and goof ups here so that should help a little bit...

Cheers
Rumi

Yay! Good for you! I also thought that perhaps if you are increasing muscle (which likely you are), the scale will show you that too. Good idea to cross train with the bike riding too.

Have you ever gone to a class? I've realized for myself that I don't work as hard with the videos but do with a bunch of people in a class. I know others are just the opposite.

The foods I'm eating are nutritious, but I think I am probably eating a bit too much of them. I really need to go back to tracking. The weekend is coming along with its eating challenges!

You're right....I felt terrible when I saw a slight increase rather than a decrease (!!!) but I'm gonna go with the scale having a bad day rather than me emoticon

Yep, doing pretty well so far, I think.... I think I wasn't burning enough calories with the Zumba cardio cd maybe as I have a really tiny living room and wasn't going full out, who knows...

Anyway, I used the exercise bike for about 20 mins today and worked up a good sweat, and then did the zumba flat abs video which is again about 20 mins....

So yay, that's day 7!!!

How're you going with the healthy eating??

Cheers

Funny you should mention the scale as I was planning to complain on how brutally unking mine was to me this morning. It could be a variety of factors. Your meal sounds delicious (I love asparagus) but maybe some salt had you retaining water. For me, I definitely didn't drink enough water and had the puffy eyes to prove it. I also had a snack too late at night and I'm sure that was a bad idea.

Sometimes I think it's best to ignore the scale and focus on diet and excercise and how clothes fit more than the number on the scale. It takes me several weeks of discipline before the scale moves. Ironically, a woman last night said I looked like I'd lost weight. The number is higher on the scale since the last time I saw this person but I do think I have been eating better in general. (And it also may have been a better fitting shirt!)

Even though I advocate ignoring the scale, I'm still compulsive about getting on it almost every day. The trick is not to be discouraged about what it tells me. It seems like I let it determine my mood for the day and that's just wrong.

And six days in a row of Zumba - c'mon that is something to celebrate!

Yep, planning ahead works for me too....

I've been planning most meals and able to keep an eye, but didn't have anything specific in mind for last night and ended up having risotto... asparagus and leek, but still :-/

Anyway day 6 Zumba cardio done...

Haven't lost even a little bit of weight though; should I be worried? I'm on the pill, I think it makes it a little difficult losing weight... any idea??

Cheers

5 down, 25 to go - no problem!

The next couple days will be "danger zone" ones as I think I'll be entitled to eat more due to more classes. NOT TRUE! I've fallen for this before - ugh! However, I'm trying to plan ahead with good snacks and meals.

Even as an instructor, I don't like anyone catching me doing Zumba at home! It's bad enough to have the dogs watching.

Diet was good until yesterday lunch when same friends who were keeping me on track invited me to Skyline Chili for lunch! Oh well, it was the biggest meal of the day - and delicious.

Huh....only did 10 mins of the Zumba cd before hubby came home from work...there was no way I was dancing in front of him, so hopped on the exercise bike for about 20 mins...

not bad, but I feel like I'm getting a lot more out of Zumba rather than cycling to nowhere lol!

Diet's fine so far, so thats a plus :-)

Good for you!

I had a class yesterday and today I need to practice. However, it's also a partial rest day since I have two classes tomorrow.

Eating has been pretty good but I'm doing the "no eating after 7" thing and I have been hungry! But, I have drank water and that's helped. I've recruited two of my friends to do the 30 day challenge and I was with them the last two nights, so that definitely helped with weekend-eating!

Thanks for joining in... Really appreciate it...

Well, day 2 Zumba done....!!!

Have had a healthy breakfast, but hope I can manage the food for the rest of the day as I'm going to a friend's place, and I've been trying to avoid bread and rice...
Will probably have a salad for lunch and go to minimise any damage lol...

I'm feeling pretty good with the basics cd, so will probably start the cardio party cd from tomorrow... :-)

Cheers

Good for you. I love a challenge that begins on the first day of the month!

I will join you in your challenge, though in the interest of full disclosure, as an instructor, the exercise part is not so difficult due to classes and schedule. HOWEVER - I need accountability with my eating goals, so that's where I need accountability.

Thanks for starting this!

Hi all!!

I just started the 30 day challenge, where I want to do Zumba every day for 30 days.... ! I have the 5 DVD set, and I'm thinking of doing the instruction DVD for the first 5-7 days to get the hang of the steps, and then make my way through the other 4 DVDs... Any suggestions would be welcome!

I need to lose a ton of weight, and also improve self discipline and general health so I really want to stick with this, and I've also tweaked my eating habits over the last few days, so I'm hoping that helps...

I can become demotivated sometimes, so I'll check back in here everyday to report that I am, in fact, doing the challenge for some amount of accountability..

Please join me, and hopefully we see a fitter version of ourselves come July!!!
