I'm 20 and I've suffered from insomnia for as long as I can remember. In the past two years it's worsened to the point where I'm frequently - almost on a weekly basis now - going through periods of at least 48 hours without sleep. Friends and co-workers have urged me to see a doctor about it and see about getting medication for it. I don't want to be put on medication for sleep though because I have somewhat of an addictive behavior (which I think I got from my dad who's an alcoholic - I've never become hooked on anything bad for me though) and I'm terrified at the thought of becoming hooked on medication.
I know I'm not asking a specific question here. I'd just like any and all insight on insomnia, medication and other treatments.
