There are different kinds of sleep medications. Some are meant for short term use (a few weeks or couple months) and others are ok for long term. You need to have this discussion with your doctor; ask why you are on these specific meds, what to expect, what side effects there are and if there's any danger of habit forming or addiction.

You can get some general information here www.healthlinkbc.ca/kb/content/drugd

You can even download a form that you can take to your doctor when you have this talk: www.healthlinkbc.ca/kb/media/pdf/hw/

Well, with that many meds at once, it might be best to talk to your doctor about what is really working for you and for how long. If something doesn't help you or is causing side effects or something, that is what you want to talk about to find what is best.

My dr has me on 3 medications to sleep. I still wake up during the night but not as often as I used to but I am concerned about staying on medications for too long. Any opinions on how long is too long to stay on sleep meds?
