All of my dogs get a second name. I work with the basset hound rescue and have 4 of my own, plus 3 fosters right now.
Bella is a foster - I just say her name funny - Baaaaallla (long a's)
Maddie is a foster - just Maddie
Tulip is a foster - Telulah

Frodo is mine - Frodo Odo
Clarence - Clarinator (like the Terminator)
Lucy - Lu Lu Bell
Gracie - Gracie Lacie

Buddy - not a basset - Butterbuns
Bear - Pyranees cross, outside dog - Big Ole Bear
Joy - Pyranees puppy, also outside - Joy Belle
Duke - foster Retriever - Duke Boy
Dixie - foster Chow - Dixie Chick

I think that's it for the dogs :0)

I have three dogs. Their names are Peanut, Butters, Jelly

Peanut - Jack Russell- was named Peanut because his head was shaped like one when he was a pupp - usually gets called Knuckle Head

Butters- Toy Fox Terrier - named for Butters on South Park. She usually gets called Butter Ball because she eats so much and if fattening up like a turkey. We have to chase her away from the other dog's food bowls.

Jelly - Dachshund - named Jelly because when he will little he had a big tummy that shook like jelly - usually gets called Jelly Belly

I want another baby to name Crackers but my other half forbids me to bring home another puppy!

If you truly count your blessings, you may find they add up more than counting your sorrows!

My dog is an Austalian Cattle Dog and when I found out her breed was derived from dingos, I started calling here Dingo Dog. But I've also called her Devil Dog (for the pointed ears and grin) and Turbo Dog (when she zooms past me). For my cat, Miranda, I sometimes call her The Evil One (for swatting the dog so much) and My Little Killer (when she catches and eats bugs).

I gues my nicknames aren't very complimentary. lol

It's true, dogs do seem to gather more nicknames than cats do. I've called Cali Muffin so many times that I think she may think it's actually her name by now. We used to call our cat Sidney Squiddums and Squidley, but he never seemed to mind. And my little dog Ziggy just got so used to all of his nicknames that he would answer to anything that had the "ig" sound in the middle of it. emoticon

I think it's easier to get silly with dog names than it is with cats because your dogs react more. Like we would yell WOOO and like Wooter and Woopter etc. to get her all excited and riled up. Whereas if I were to say "Evie-bevie" or something like that she would probably just stare at me like "What?"

But I will just say her name really fast multiple times. And I noticed that when I want a cat up in my bed I call them alphabetically. I didn't even know I did that. "Evie! Paris! Zoe!"

We got our yellow lab out of the pound and he came with the name of "Bubba". My husband calls him "Rub-a-dub" and he responds to me calling him "Bubby". He is so affectionate and at 96 pounds sometimes thinks he is a lap dog. emoticon

Our Coco is a toodle (part terrier and poodle) we call her Miss Coco, Coco Puff and pumpkin and she will run to any of her littl.e nicknames. As she is not suppose to be at the market with us as they banned dogs we call her our little illegal and she has started to response to that also Of course, one of the security guards comes in and talks to her every time he comes by our location......I believe the sign is to allow them to control what animals are in the market. People with their little ones in stroller are never asked to leave

Keep on track

When Paris (really fat black and white short hair) lays on the stairs I call him a Trip Hazard. We call Zoe zo-zo sometimes. But all of our cats have pretty short named.

My dog (RIP Woo) she actually got her name because my step-dad would just yell WOOOO to get her attention. She was a shari-epi ridgeback mix. We would call her anything from Woo-woo, Wooters, Wooper, etc.

My best friend had a Boston Terrier named Gizmo and we would call him Gizzy, Giz-giz, etc.

We had a kerry blue terrier who would mother people and other animals alike. She would make a sound somewhat like a cow so she was called MammaMoo. Our first grey hound was very tall--close to 6 feet on her hind legs, but extremely gentle --hence Gentle Giant.

Wow! What a bunch of animal lovers....awsom!

I also think that if my pug had curly wiskers that came up into a circle....she would look exactly like the cartoon grinch..........but I haven't told her that.......as it might hurt her feelings.......lol

I used to have a little terrier-poodle cross who would answer to anything that had "ig" in it. He had more nicknames than any other animal I have ever been owned by. His formal name was Ziggy Stardust and I mostly called him Ziggy, but I also called him Ziggen, Piggen, Wiggen, Squiggen, Ziggles, Ziggledy and any other combination of the aforementioned strange names and the letters Z, P, W and S that I would come up with at a particular time. I'm not sure that he even knew what his "real" name was by the time he died at the age of 13. emoticon

Our younger cat is Cali. I have always called her Cali Kitten but one day I just looked at her and told her "you're Miss Muffin." So now we call her Miss Muffin, Muffin Kitty, Cali Muffin, things like that. I also call her Little Miss sometimes. Our older cat Luna doesn't really have a lot of nicknames, but we do call her Lunita sometimes. And when I call Cali "Cali Kitten", I'll also call Luna "Luna Lovely."

There was much rejoicing!
