High - several today, including weight loss to date (25 lbs since joing SP), good workout with my sister (increased my time/distance on bike), getting an address from the National Guard to write to my grandson.
Low - I forgot to ask what Comapany my grandson is in so I can't mail the letter yet and they aren't answering their phone this afternoon, I'll have to drive back there to find out.

Goals4Sony - you go to so many interesting places and do so interesting things! Wow - Hawaii, I've never been. Closest I ever came was scanning my Mom's photos from her 6 weeks staying with my sister who lived 5 years in Honolulu; and creating a 1-hour slide show with Hawaiian music of the photos my son/daughter-in-law took of their visit 2 years ago. Be sure to take lots of photos and post a few!

HI--Ohhh-tempting! So, in Lahaina, you must do the finest of all the Luaus there. Spend the money for it, it's soooooo moving. Also, see the history/theater spectacular about Maui and all of Hawaii. It's sort a Cirque du Soleil show. I was moved to tears.
We enjoyed Haleakala'a, but caught it on a foggy day.
The hike up at the Boy Scout camp is a good one, and you have amazing views. We also went to Hana in our rental. If you get the triple rainbow at the end, enjoy, but even without that it's so worth giving up a day to go and come back. There's a balck sand beach there in the park, too. Take sodas and saltines for the curves if you get car sick.
The cowboy town was not much of a stop for us--and I do love a cowboy! But the recs on beaches are all very accurate.
At the edge of the island, beyond Kihei is Wailea and some ultra high swank living, dining and shopping. We went to the high end hotels a couple of nights for the cheap thrill of people watching and luxury seating. The artwork is grand, and my husband tells me his drink was fashionably smooth--I had the virgin Bloody Mary.
As for whale watching, unless you thrill at the idea or really want to get in a small boat, I advise in August to pass on it. In Dec. we had a less- than- Oregon viewing and waves that made my decades of deep sea fishing and sailing experience vaporize. I was seasick and nauseous for 2 days after.
Anyone who has ever been to Maui will have tidbits of advice and sound like an expert--just like I imagine I must sound now! You will love it, but some out of the way things I wanted and will go for on next trip are: a Hawaiian quilt class in Kihei; a yoga and chant session on the beach; an island massage.
So read up, prepare to be wowed and stunned, and just know you will cry when you have to say Aloha!

We are staying at Garden Gate Bed and Breakfast, in Lahaina. It is my first trip to Hawaii, I am so very excited. We are going in August (the off season) was able to get a great deal on flights and rooms this way. I will check out the Ocean Breeze on Kihei..sounds fun. We were trying to decide if we should break up our stay into one week each in two different locations. Any recommendations of must sees or towns you liked?
Come join us in August...would love a tour guide!

Hi--am new to SP and all its options. Saw you had been sick. Cheers to you for getting to the Forum. In last 6 weeks I truly have had 4 illnesses and one knee surgery. Pull through and be gentle with yourself. Somehting we all forget. And HALT-- Always HALT: Ask before you do anything, Am I Hungry for someone or thing? Am I Angry about someone or thing? Am I Lonely for someone of thing? Am I Tired from someone or thing?
HALT! God Bless!

B and B on Maui? Is it the little Ocean Breeze near Kihei, owned by Bob Boudreaux? I am always interested in a B&B on Maui. This one was great for us about 18 months ago. Am in Beaverton and thinking of another trip quite soon. Best of June and all things berry and Oregon in Summer to you!
