I am happy to help plan some training "sessions" for the half marathon. I am not the fastest walker, but i do hope to beat my 5 hr goal from 2 yrs ago. LOL.so, let me know if you needany help with the planning and getting the sparkers together for that day. if nothing else, we can start out together and possibly meet after we all complete the half marathon for lunch. how does that sound? can my husband come also, even though he isn't an official sparker?
I would never talk to my BFF the way I talk to myself about my body.

I think I like this idea. :) It may be a few days until I can implement much though (still getting my head around going to school while working, since I started my job last week and school started THIS week...phew). :)

I think it would be fabulous if you started new threads and planning for 2013. I have been talking it up with Spark friends I met in the JASR in Pittsburgh this year and quite a few of them have said they will come here to the Flying Pig in 2013. I really think we will get a good crowd. A lot of us can't do JASR in 2013 because it falls on the Saturday before Easter. So, some of the people who are skipping JASR are making the Pig their destination race.
I'll keep drumming up more attendees amongst my friends and it would be wonderful if you can work on overall organization. I can help; but am not able to be the main coordinator. What do you think?
Oh, and btw, my plan is to walk a HM at the Pig along with a few other Sparkers who may not be up to running.

Well, there's a Flying Pig team where I tried to organize stuff this past May, but there wasn't a lot of participation - maybe this year will be better. :)
I haven't really thought about next year yet (heck, I didn't even manage to do the Warrior Dash this past weekend as intended, life has just gotten too crazy since I left my job and started STNA training the day after the Pig). I definitely intend to be involved as a volunteer if nothing else. I don't think I'll do a full again, but the half is a distinct possibility.
I've also been considering starting something...in my head it's called "Tail Gators" and it'd be a group to specifically stick around and cheer for the very last folks who cross the finish line of the full. There were only about 12 people that came in after my daughter and I, and by the time we got there they'd taken all the food down, and everybody except our family was pretty well gone. We got our medals, but that's it. It was pretty depressing for having accomplished something so amazing. And I personally think the folks that come in last are generally the REAL warriors, who've overcome so much just to finish. I think there should be some kind of organized cheering section (heck, I'd like to see it spread to marathons all over the country), I just don't really know how to pull it off. :)
