Actually there are several websites that have information and question to set up a run.
Here is a tiny listing of onfo - out there.
RoadRunners' Club of America -rrca.org,
Road Race Management - rrm.com
Chicago Area Runners Association - http://www.cararuns.org/Racing/Race%20Dire ctors/Race%20Director%20Packet.aspx - has several guidelines to help you.
The Toledo Roadrunners also has a short section on race management.
There is many more but these should be enough to get you started. One word of caution, there are almost 150 races in the Greater Cincinnati area so good luck finding a suitable date as there will most definitely be a run./walk that weekend.
I know this wasn't my thread, but just as a curiosity, are there good websites that kind of outline the basics about how to set up a run? I don't have anything in mind at this point, but just seems like info that'd be good to know how to find.
Hi there. Okay, so I am a professional who plans major outdoor events like walks and runs (I have been doing this for15 years). So what kind information do you need? I can help you get it started. Fell free to ask questions. It is my way of giving back.
thanks for the info everyone. Im going to try and contact one of those race companys. Im hopeing to do a race in oct... (i know run like hell is in oct too) .
volunteers will be needed.. and our rescue always needs volunteers too.. especailly foster parents and animal forever homes :) Or if you just want to come one day a week and walk a dog or play with a cat, then you are doing the animal a favor and helping yourself get exercize!!!!
I will post when the race will be and the entry fee amount once I get thing settled. Hope to see everyone there!!!

I have absolutely no experience or knowledge of how something like that is put together, but I'd really love to learn! If you just need some busy-work style stuff done, I may be able to help with something like that - and that way I can see what you do and pick your brain about the bigger details of what you do ;-)
Feel free to send me a spark message if you want! Maybe we could meet up sometime and brainstorm some ideas.
I would contact one of the companies that run them such as Don Connolly, Precott or MCCormick Race Management. I'm sure one will be able to help you out. When you get it organized post on here, I would love to participate.

hi.. my name is Denise... I'm in charge of putting together a 5k walk/run for Kyle new hope animals rescue (KNHAR). I have never put something like this together before.... I need help in finding a location... somewhere free or inexpensive to rent. I will need help with signage, volunteers, and monetary donations. I am planning on a t-shirt for all participants and would need somewhere to get these printed, for cheap. I will need an idea of entry fee, and any insurance we will need to carry. I would like to have a person winner, and a dog/person winner. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
