We were recently contacted by another local organization who is trying to help Cincinnati take positive steps toward greater health and they asked we share information about an upcoming special airing this week on Channel 5. Here are the details: Tuesday, September 21, at 7 pm, on WLWT-TV, Channel 5
About the Show
Obesity is America’s number one health problem. Nearly two-thirds of American adults are either overweight or obese. Childhood obesity is triple what it was a generation ago. And, as the number of overweight Americans has increased, so have the healthcare costs associated with this epidemic.
“The good news is that by taking just one step, you can begin a healthier lifestyle,” explained Dwight Tillery, president and CEO of The Center for Closing the Health Gap. “The “Take One Step” movement will help raise awareness of the damaging effects of obesity and encourage all Cincinnatians to move toward greater health. The idea is to start with one action - such as walking to the bus stop, or packing a healthy lunch - and mastering that step to lead to even more healthy choices.”
During the show you will be challenged to post your “step” online and I wanted to start this thread as a place where people can share their "step" so that we can continue motivating and encouraging each other here on SparkPeople!
