It sounds pretty good to me. Since the Spark program is set up to lose 1/2 to 2 lbs. per week, it sounds like you are right on target. Way to go! Unless you are losing weight but not trying to, then you should consult with your doctor.

If you loose a pound a week, one year will see you 52 pounds lighter. Awesome!

If at the same time, you are exercising and converting fat to muscle, you will see an awesome difference in shape.

I've had a month that I lost three inches on my waist and nothing on the scale.

Don't give up!

PS - it's normal - don't give up

every person is different. depends on hoe obese you are to start with. the books tell you no more than 2 pounds a week.

Don't just look at the scale as your test for losing weight. I've been walking 5 miles a day 5-6 days a week and watching my calories since Dec. 2 when I rejoined SP. I lost 6 pounds the first couple of weeks, and I've lost nothing according to the scale since. That can discourage one faster than anything!! The scale just goes down and then up and then down and then up. But, I'm not just going by the scale. I'm also going by how much better I can workout (stronger body), and by measurements. I have lost inches. So I'd say a pound a week is absolutely great, but I'd also say watch for other improvements too!

Another week, another pound lost. This week I am going to increase my exercise to 40 mins. a day and try and make sure I get enough protein. I am happy that I am making progress but am just trying to figure out the best ratio of calorie intake and exercise that I need Increasing my exercise is about the only thing I can do. I don't want to decrease my calories to below 1200 so........... enough writing and I;ll do another 10 mins. of exercise before I go to work. Hagd all.

There are weeks that the scale shows an increase in my weight.
Have checked how many calories I've eaten daily for that week as well as my physical activities.

I may even go a month with no weight loss.
Losing weight is a process.
I didn't gain 70 pounds over night so I cannot lose 70 pounds over night.

I would love to lose a pound a week. I tend to average about 1 pound of loss every 2 or 3 or even 4 weeks. But I'm down 15 pounds, which is better than up that much. So hang in there; it's all about developing healthy habits for the rest of your life.

This is week 4for me as we'll and lost only 4 pounds. However if I can do that every week I am happy. I had a piece of Angel Food cake. Now I feel stuffed. So the next time I feel the urge for something sweet. I just kiss my husband, ha

I've been here at SparkPeople for one week. I've lost one pound. Pretty un-exciting but I just tell myself to keep it up. I was hoping for two pounds per week. Mainly I am trying to adjust my eating habits and work towards healthier eating habits for the long term. Less fat, smaller portions, more veggies. Staying positive. Other times that I've tried to diet I end up almost obsessed with food and thinking about it all the time. This time it's not that way so I hope the end result will be different too.

Yes that is normal.
If the weight comes off too fast it will likely be put back on fast.
Keep up the great work.

Slow and steady wins the race. You are doing great. The tendency to want or expect to lose a lot quickly is common but unreasonable. Keep up the good work. emoticon

Yes, you are going great. It is best to lose slowly. Ranging between 1/2 to 2 pounds weekly

O.K. so it will be 4 weeks this coming Saturday that I started Spark People. So far I am down 4 pounds. Been exercising, tracking, and keeping my calories around 1200. Eating all healthy carbs, keeping fat at required numbers. still having trouble with getting my protein up but trying real hard. What I want to know is, is this normal weight loss. What do the rest of you lose in a week. Just need someone to compare myself to so that \I know I am on track. Thanks emoticon
