In defense of bananas: If you have trouble with leg cramps, they help a lot. I am prone to cramps. If I eat a banana every day, I don't have any problems.

....and about smelling sweeter. I'm not sure about that, but since I started exercising more and eating healthier, my sweat smells different, and I sweat more easily. It does remind me of the way I would sweat when I was younger. (Just got in from a walk, and I need a shower.)

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.

I read an article once that said people who mainly ate friut smelled sweeter-fruity. Don't know how true that is, but it would be a nice side effect. And I've always read to avoid bananas when dieting because of high density sugar and calories. My sprkpeople diet says to only eat half a banana. I always end up eating the whole thing.

Hi, Lin, I keep a close eye on my starches - carbs like bread, pasta, rice, etc. but I'm a lot less concerned with fruits emoticon emoticon . I would be more cautious with bananas and some of the tropical fruits emoticon emoticon but even one well known weight loss organization has now made fruit a free food. Of course, like anything else, we can overdo fruit so I'd never eat it non-stop all day long emoticon . For me it is a much better and healthier alternative to snacking then other typical "snack foods" emoticon emoticon . emoticon I think eating a lot of fruit could possibly make your weight loss a little slower emoticon but I'm no concerned about losing it fast emoticon . I want to lose it at a pace that will enable me to keep it off for life once I lose it. Maybe I could lose it faster by eating the minimum of everything but I know I won't be able to do that for the rest of my life. This way I eat enough to feel satisfied and if I lose a little slower, well that's okay, because I know I will be able to continue to eat this way over the long term. emoticon Hope this made some kind of sense the way I wrote it emoticon Some things aren't easy to explain but I sure had fun using all these Emoticons emoticon

About the only time you would have to worry about getting too much fruit is if you are diabetic, because fruits contain natural sugars. The only fruit I carefully monitor is bananas because they are high in calories and sugars.

As for vegetables, as long as you are not concentrating on the starchy vegetables you should be fine. It's best to limit starchy vegetables to one serving per meal. Starchy vegetables would be potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas, beans, rutabagas, corn, limas.

I really, really like summer fruits. Sometimes I feel like I'm overdosing, but it's better than overdoing sugar or fats.

As long as my protein fat and carb percentages are in the right place I don't worry about how many fruits and veggies I eat. Since I depend on them for volume they are my go to foods.

It is recommended that we have 3 - 5 servings of fruits as well as vegetables. These are generally pretty low in calories so shouldn't throw you over your calorie range.
