HI yes I have belly fat. Tired of jackets not fitting , and having to buy mens smalls or medium because they are more boxy shaped. I'm here to say, consistent exercise and calorie reduction. Starting this month. I have not been making in changes.. so why would it change my body and weight loss? I've read through this tread and I love reading everyones ideas.

Thanks everyone you are all very motivating to me regardless if you have reached your goals or not. We keep coming back and renewing our commitment and it will work. Some times it just takes a little longer. but it will work!

Just do it , keep it in your mind this isn't going to be perfection but a goal to live a clean heatlhy life. As long as you can hit the mark most days you will be successfulI in the long run.

Well, it is a new year and I am thinking that all the belly fat did not disappear during 2013. At least mine didn't. I am losing inches, slowly ... trying to watch the calories. Definitely walking my 10,000 steps per day, just need to work on weights and other exercise.

I have a back and leg problem. My ability to exercise has decreased over the last 2 years and my consumption levels have not decreased with it. I am at home all of the time which does not help. Has anybody got any suggestions for me?

Thank you for the encouragement. I tried a different weight loss program for 16 weeks and kept loosing and gaining the same 5 lbs over and over again. I'm also on the beautiful path of menopause with Lady Synthroid. I will not give up and I'll exercise hard and watch my calorie intake and slowly be rid of my unseeming belly fat and flying squirrel underarms. I haven't taken a measurement yet I'm going to wait until I've been on this program for 1 month. Sounds like you are really getting toned. Thanks again.

Yup, me too! BUT, my belly is slowly diminishing - slowly being the operative word here. I've been to the doc for menopause stuff. Long story. The last one put me on Synthroid and then told me it is what it is and I just have to live through it, and if I'll watch my calories (1500 a day) and exercise 60 minutes a day 5-6 days a week, I will eventually lose weight and the belly. And it is happening! I've lost 2.5 inches off my waist since Dec. 2. So I say, watch the calories and exercise. You will lose not only the belly but the hips and the thighs and the arm fat and, and, and ............. emoticon

I haven't lost much in the way of pounds. Good thing I measured when I started because that is the only way I realize I'm losing. I would probably have given up on Feb. 1 if I hadn't measured. I'd gained several pounds but I lost 3 inches! emoticon

Mercy, I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I don't like it one bit. Clothes don't fit. Jackets and cardigans won't come together....unless you buy a larger size and then it too big elsewhere.
I suggest we all.........lose weight............and see if our "muffin" tops disappear!! emoticon

It is excruciatingly slow but that droopy belly is shrinking. Any hint of muffin top is gone unless I put on a body shaper which just pushes it all up. emoticon I think when I lose that last 20 pounds it may almost be gone or so I hope.

I've read that after menopause our estrogen levels go down so we put on weight like men do -- around the belly. Also, that the estrogen output by the ovaries decreases dramatically so that estrogen is made in other ways. One way is body fat. Yes, body fat makes estrogen. So your body is trying to supplement its estrogen production. I also know that a post-menopausal woman needs to have a blood level of 80 pgm of estradiol in order to feel happy and healthy. If your estradiol level is lower than that, you'll feel lousy emotionally and physically regardless of what you do. To put it in perspective, a younger woman's levels are around 500 pgm. Yet, there are so many of us older ladies who don't realize we have seriously low levels of estradiol. The solution is simple: take a bio-identical estradiol supplement. They come in pills, patches, creams and you can get a month's supply for under $10. I'm a believer. Google "bio-identical estradiol" for more info. Good luck!

I don't know if it will work but I am doing a modified Pilates move that the trainer at the gym gave me. Stand against a wall with your feet about 18 inches from the wall and even with your hips. Feel with your hand behind your lower back. You will see that there is a curve there away from the wall. Put your hands on your abdomen and engaging your abs, move them back so that that curve disappears. Repeat until you are tired. It is a lot easier to do this standing up than on the floor.

I was whining about this last night. It seems likes it growing overnight. My arms and legs are toned, just this one area I can't seem to get down. I keep saying it doesn't bother me but it does

I too have noticed the flat tire, or muffin top around my waist, the older I have gotten (51 now). I've also heard it called "menopause belly" - yay me! (hahah). Had it checked out by the doctor just to be sure it wasn't something involving the lady parts--it wasn't, thank God, I didn't gain it overnight, so I don't expect to lose it quickly (darn). Good luck and much success to everyone!

Losing weight and abdominal ST does seem to help but progress is slow. It seems like the last place I lose weight

From the comments of others and from my own personal experience, belly fat seems to be the norm for us. However, I have found that eventually as we lose the excess weight the belly does decrease in size.

That's where most of my excess is. It's hard finding slacks or capris to fit because I need a bigger size to accomodate the belly, but then the legs are baggy.
