Jen - don't give up! By the way, I'm not as motivated as you think. The exercise stuff is relatively easy for me. I've been playing sports and stuff like that since I was about 10 - and I'm over 50 so I've had lots of time for being active to be a habit that's hard to give up.

I'm struggling with staying in my calorie range. I'm basically around the weight I want to be, but I want a little more "give" in my blue jeans, so in May - that would be today - I'm going to have a "stay in the calorie range" goal again.

Jen, hang in there. I plan on the same two goals next month. I could do much better than once or twice a week.

I have failed miserably in posting to this thread. I plan to do much better with it for May.

Reading through all the post I can see how motivated everyone is. You all are working really hard.

Can you believe the month is over?

Did strength training session #10 for the month today. So that's my goal. Hurrah!

Ran again yesterday for about 2 miles. That was the 5th cardio session this month that included running, so that's one over my goal.

Food, well, it's sometimes okay and sometimes not, and not ever really horrible. Must continue to work that!

I think for me, after dinner I need to do one of two things -

1. Brush my teeth and floss. I hate flossing so to have to do it again is annoying, and thus would keep me from eating.
2. Go upstairs and stay there. It's far from food and for some reason I never eat in my bedroom.

What I should never do is
1. Sit down and watch TV. It blanks out my mind and food seems very appealing, even when there's nothing tempting in the house. Fortunately TV has little worth watching on it. Unfortunately, I have a decent collection of DVDs.
2. Mindlessly cruise the internet. The computer is in the kitchen and that is too close to tempation.

Good job on the ST, Owl.

Later,
VB

I start the day with the best of intentions, but sometime after dinner, I lose my memory. This is getting out of hand.

On the other hand, although it is not one of my stated goals in April, I have been getting in two strength training sessions a week.

Oh the burden of being an inspiration.

I ran yesterday - well ran and walked. So that's my 4 sessions met for month of April. emoticon

I did strength training session number 8 at 5:30 this morning. Should do session 9 on Sunday and will drag myself out of bed one morning next week for session 10. emoticon

The food part hasn't been as good.

You are welcome Vballjoan. It's the truth, you are an inspriation. You have made me get up off my backside and do my strength/toning 3 days a week for the past 2 weeks . . Thank You Ma'am !!!!!

I have been having a "love affair" with chocolate this week, too. Must be something in the air emoticon Oh well, I have not gained any weight, I don't think anyways.

I have also managed to do my yoga 3 days a week for the past 2 weeks. This is an accomplishment for me . . usually I don't do a thing or I start and do for 2 days and then stop.

For today:

I stayed in my calorie range emoticon

I ate my 5 freggies emoticon

so I am pretty proud of myself for today.

Good Luck in your MS walk Vballjoan!!! You will do good!!

sorry for the book everyone!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful day. Have a great day in the morning!!

So it is amazing to me what other people think about me. I feel like I've been slacking off and Yorkie says I'm an inspiration. Well, that might be the kick in the pants I need to stop slacking off.

The slacking has been on the food side. I've had this 'affair' lately with chocolate. In fact, I have some homemade chocolate pudding in the refrigerator right now. But thank you Yorkie, because while I feasted on it yesterday without remorse - and with going over my calorie total - today it is in my food tracker.

I have also run/walked today. I finished the 3.2 mile course in 44 minutes and ran about 21 or 22 of them. When I go to the beach for a week in June the only cardio I get which really gets my heart beating is jogging, so I've got to keep working on this.

I've got strength training scheduled for first thing in the morning.

Did I mention that on Saturday I'm walking in the local MS Walk? I'll probably do the 5 mile route.

That's all for now.
Thanks for re-inspiring me Yorkie!

And Owl - you don't have to win that 10K event. You just have to finish. Have fun with it.

Did not get a calorie deficit of 600 calories, but that will be challenging with a bum knee. It is feeling better today, but I will have to take it easy until Saturday anyway. I am walking in my very first 10K race. I know I will not be walking at my best speed, but I will be walking anyway!

Did a ST session....first time in a week and it felt good. Great job on those freggies!

VB, you are doing a great job! An inspiration and reminder for me.

Met goals, Chelle! Way to go! Protein shakes....yuck...

GINERDEE67, never too late to set goals. Glad to see you posting here.

Jenn, 5 freggies! Super!

I think that I ate fairly well while camping, although I broke down on Sunday evening and again on Monday evening. I know it has to do with being tired. So I go to bed, but my knee keeps me awake. It is a pain! Literally! Had an MRI today and hopefully I will have an answer soon.

Just a reminder for me about my goals:
1. Do not eat out of the package.
2. No more than 300 calories after dinner.
I can do it today.

I didn't notice this before. I'm a little late on posting my April Goals but oh well. Better late than never!

1. Walk 3 miles a day (did that this morning)
2. Drink my stupid water (did that too)
3. Journal my food intake every day.

We will never get anywhere unless we start.

Hmmmm...goals.
1 - moderately successful on the 'stay in the calorie range' goal. I'll actually make it today. I would say I'm around 75% on that one.
2 - I've done 6 sessions of strength training so far this month and that's more than halfway to my goal of 10.
3 - I've been jogging I believe 3 times. I may jog tomorrow since I burned a lot of calories hiking today.

Well, I just joined the team, so I am going to make a goal for the rest of April to drink at least one protein shake a day. I am trying to up my protein and reduce my carbs because when I do I seem to do well and stay within my calories thay way. Also, getting more sleep is a big one for me so...
1. 1 protein shake a day
2. At least 6 hours of sleep (in bed by 10)
3. Track food daily (I've been on a program since Jan. and haven't been tracking for weeks! This one is crucial for me right now.)

I read over everyone's goals-- great work!!

Walked in a charity walk today little over 3 miles. My knee feels it but is not hurting. I'm so excited, this was a major step for me to try something --- using positive mental attitude to keep me going, I wanted to quit before I started, and talked myself into trying, and so very glad I did. It was worth it.

The dr. said to keep doing low impact exercises, but apply ice afterwards. He also suggested that I take higher doses of ibuprofen for a week to keep the inflammation down.

I might do more biking and less walking. We'll see. I plan to bike to work (less than 15 minutes) and take a moderate walk at lunch.

Ooops emoticon I haven't finished today, so I don't know if I have managed my goals for today.

I have had 1 freggie so far and still below my calorie range for the day. I have even been managing to keep my carbs in the range that I set for myself (about 10% of my calorie range)

Hope everyone is doing well

My goals:
1. Do not eat out of the package.
2. Eat 300 calories or less after my evening meal.
3. Create a calorie deficit of 600 calories each day (BMR + calories burned from exercise - calories eaten).

Sunday. Who knows?

Monday. Slightly better, but no goals met.

Tuesday. Finally, I met goals 1 and 2, but did not get to a 600 calorie deficit due to lack of exercise. But I am starting up again tomorrow. I can't wait!

I am glad you made it back Owlwho!!

Keep up the good work Jentile (on the 2# weightloss) and BvallJoan !!

I has been a while since I posted my goals emoticon

I have managed to stay in my calorie range most days, between 1200-1800; so that is a good thing

I managed to eat my 5 freggies 2 days I believe, I have been getting a little slack about my posting and it is time to change that again.

Catching up on some my goals posting.

- I ran/jogged again today. That's twice this month so far with a goal of doing this 4 times. Did 2 miles jogging the first time and 2.3 this time.

- I did my third session of strength exercises this month. So far I've done them on Saturday the 4th, Tuesday the 7th and Thursday tne 9th. That's 3 down and 7 to go.

- As far as the calorie thing, I'm mostly in range.

Big weekend coming up - lots of band stuff to do for Easter.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wednesday: No, met none of my goals.

On track for today, except that it might be tricky to log calories for a Sedar meal. What is it and how many calories does it have? emoticon

I don't worry about "under range" either. I know that the next day I'll be over or back in range.

Turns out that I missed putting an apple or something like that into Monday's totals, so I was in range at 1607.

Yesterday I was near the top of the range at 1882.

Scale was down one pound this morning. How cool is that!

VB, I think it is fine to be a few calories under or over as long as most of the time is within the range. Great job on the ST. I have done only one this week. Planning on one tomorrow after music rehearsals.

Jen, great job on your water goal!

I went over my calories on Monday, but did not really binge, so that's good. But I didn't meet any of my goals:

1. Do not eat out of the package.
2. Eat 300 calories or less after my evening meal.
3. Create a calorie deficit of 600 calories each day (BMR + calories burned from exercise - calories eaten).

emoticon

But today is about over, so Tuesday is looking to be a good one!

Yesterday I was on the very lowend of my calorie scale. According to Spark, too low, but then I've been over. I hit 1537 calories and the lower end of my range is 1570. No big deal to be a few calories short one day though.

I did strength exercises this morning, so that's two sessions down for April and 8 to go.

It is good to see everyone posting here. I am not the only one that is striving to meet goals. I made it to and from Montana safely. DD is pretty interested in the college, as it has an equine program. I hope they give her a good financial package. I only wish it was a bit closer.

So my goals are:
1. Do not eat out of the package.
2. Eat 300 calories or less after my evening meal.
3. Create a calorie deficit of 600 calories each day (BMR + calories burned from exercise - calories eaten).

I am not even going to try to recap the last few days. The days out of town did certainly not fall inside my goals, but today's unofficial weigh-in shows that I am down two pounds from the last weigh-in. This is good news.

Packing fruits and veggies in lunch bags helped me to eat more freggies than I would have eaten otherwise. I might continue this strategy for other out-of-town trips.

Onward and upwards! I mean, downwards emoticon

First weekend in April is over and here's a goal re-cap -

1. Stay in my calorie range 6 days a week. Try to stay under the top number so if I go over one day, the average will be in the range for a 7 day period.
the range is 1570 to 1920.

Results
- April 1 - 1916
- April 2 - 1852
- April 3 - 1759
- April 4 - 1972 (over, but on track for 7 day period)
- April 5 - 1730

2. Add some running to my cardio - say one day a week. So four sessions this month need to include some time jogging on the treadmill or jogging during my outside waking.
- Jogged on Friday, April 3

3. Strength train enough to get 10 sessions completed in the month of April.
- April 4 - session 1 done!

You will get there Jen!!! I was discouraged earlier and realized that I can do this one day at a time with the Lord's help. That is the only way I can do this.

Congrats on the baby Fabbecky !!!

So for yesterday, Saturday, I did't even do any posting or anything. I tried to stay busy and not want to eat all day :-) So I am unsure if I met my calorie limit goal, but I did do the 5 freggis for the day !!

Hope everyone has a wonderful upcoming week !!!

The 4th day of April and I continue to remain "not so committed" to my water and sodium goals. Seems everything else remains in the forefront. I have to turn this around if I plan to ever be consistant here.

Did strength training this morning and I'm about to meet a friend for an easy walk. I did a birthday dinner for a friend last night and haven't yet estimated the calories. I'll do that when I get back from the walk.

A cardio goal for this month is to add running. I got on the treadmill for 3 miles and jogged 2 miles of it, alternating jogging & walking.

I was aiming to do that four times this month, so one down, and 3 to go!

On the calorie goal...Top of the range is 1920

4/1 Calories - 1916
4/2 Calories - 1852

That's two days. Two of us are taking a friend out for her birthday tonight, but we are eating Greek, and I have looked over the menu and will likely settle on the salmon, so I should be okay today too.

Thanks YorkieLynch. The weekend cannot get here soon enough - what a week!!

In all the craziness of my day, I did NOT meet my water goal again today NOR did I reduce my sodium. BAH!! However, as Scarlet O'Hara said "Tomorrow is another day!".

Good luck over the weekend Owlwho. Have fun and be safe.

Enjoy your time away Owlwho!! Everyone deserves time away!!

I guess I am still not feeling up to par, this "flu" bug is getting the best of me. Water is finally starting to taste good, at least the house water, but works water is not . . I guess I will have to bring water to work with me.

I had 1 serving of freggies (taken from Owlwho-hope that is okay?) today.

I am going to have to put my last meal in and let everyone know about staying in may calorie range tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a wonder day/week!!

Did not eat out of the package today. Did not eat anything after my last meal. Calorie deficit: 800. emoticon Actually I had a deficit yesterday too, but ate so much on Sunday and Monday that I still do not have a deficit for the week.

I am heading out of town for a few days. I am not sure if I will be able to check in. I have packed 5 servings of freggies for each of the three days that I am on the road. I have packed snacks that are not trigger foods for me. I will only have to watch out (abstain) from the trigger foods that DH and DD will be eating in the car. I am still trying to meet my three goals for the next three days; it'll be tough.

I think I have managed to walk the 6500 steps pretty good for February and March, so I think I will retire that one. I am going to keep walking and I still have a step goal on my "other goals" that I would like to make more often.

So my goals for April are:
1. eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day
2. stay within my calorie range of 1200 to 1800 calories a day.

I think that is what I will start with. I think I am sometimes too hard on myself when I don't do what I know I should do. I guess we are our own worse critic sometimes, I need to be a little easier on myself and maybe I'll make my goals everyday this month.

So for today . . I guess I am still recovering for being sick. I didn't eat anything but chicken noodle soup and rice today. I hope to be getting back to normal during the week and can start reaching my goals then. Anyway, I am a work in progress . . I need to remember that.

Hope everyong is doing good!!

I have re-evaluated my weight loss goal. For me personally, I was being too aggressive and failing too often. I know from my time on Spark that I need to set a calorie goal I can make and which over time will show desired good effects.

Anyway, I'm maybe 7 pounds above where I'd like to be and my clothes fit just fine. So I set a goal to drop the 7 pounds by the end of August and let the tools on Spark calculate my calorie range. The range is 1570 to 1920, and I told Spark I burn 2500 calories a week.

So this month -
1. Stay in my calorie range 6 days a week. Try to stay under the top number so if I go over one day, the average will be in the range for a 7 day period.

2. Add some running to my cardio - say one day a week. So four sessions this month need to include some time jogging on the treadmill or jogging during my outside waking.

3. Strength train enough to get 10 sessions completed in the month of April.

My weight fluctuates wildly (gained 7 pounds this week). So my goals will not include "lose weight". But if I were to succeed in my goals, I would certainly lose some pounds. Here they are:

1. Do not eat out of the package.
2. Eat 300 calories or less after my evening meal.
3. Create a calorie deficit of 600 calories each day (BMR + calories burned from exercise - calories eaten).

I think drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day helps also!

Goal for April:
Keep eating within calorie range--I have done terrible lately, so really need to work on this. A bonus would be if I lost some weight because of doing better on my eating!
5 fruits & veggies every day.

My goal for April: work on losing weight. I have a new challenge in my "movitavtion" group coming up April 7 (involves money), so I need to get ready to lose more than 5 oz a week.

What are your goals for April? Pick some - folks pick a manageable number - one, two or three - that are suited to where they are in this process and post them. Then we post - daily if you can - how you are doing.

This is a good place to get encouragement from others who can help with ideas or with just propping you up. And we love to celebrate success too!

Please jump on in!
