I have not seen Zumba on FIOS. I can't believe they don't have it. They do have something called Latin dancing, but it is not anything like Zumba.

Hi FNNUTZ:

I do not go to Zumba classes because I am shy but I think that's a great option for someone that likes to be around people and its economical. I personally use Youtube because it allows me to put together many videos and create playlists.

This is a learning journey... I am learning to eat healthy, to love exercise, but more important, I am learning to love myself.

I agree with everyone else...try to get to a class. The place where I take Zumba has a waiting area that is filled with little ones waiting for their mommies to finish up with class. It's so cute because some of them even know all the moves! If you do decide on the DVD's and plan on doing Zumba on carpet, you may want to invest in the shoe "slides" as carpet Zumba can be hard on the knees (it is for me at least). My husband bought me the PS3 game but I don't use it for that reason.

I hear you about the classes - and believe me - I really want to get to one.. problem is - I WFH, and my 3yr old stays home with me... my husband doesn't help much when it comes to her (unless I'm running to pick him up a carvel cake! LoL)... so actually getting the chance to run to a class - is next to Nil... which is why I'm stuck with the TV... may daughter is a lil chunky for her age (she's also tall - ppl think she is 5 or 6 and she just turned 3 last month!) and she loves to dance as well - so I know we'll have fun doing it together... I gotta figure out something!

I have to agree about the classes...I think the DVDs are ok if you absolutely don't have a class near you, but the energy of a class is SO MUCH FUN and I'm not usually a group person either :) All sorts of different people go to the classes, so don't worry about feeling out of place - no one's looking when they crank up the music! I took a class on a whim and am absolutely addicted now, but I've never felt like that about a video (even the MTV workout tapes from years and years ago, lol).

Congratulations on being an early innovator of Zumba! Dancing is the most fun way to lose weight, I think.

Before you spend money on the set, try a class. There's just nothing like the group dynamic. I've got the Exhilerate set and it's fine, but honestly, it's collecting dust because I enjoy being in a group more (and I'm not normally a group person). I work out a lot harder than I do in my Living Room (plus there are no dogs on the floor in classes - bonus).

I'm new to Zumba... my cousin does it.. she's an instructor and lost a lot of weight. She said that she's surprised I didn't create it when back in the late 90s I lost 100lbs by just going out at night and dancing with my friends (opportunity lost!). Now that the weight is back on, I'm really interested in trying Zumba out. I have the Wii version - but its not fun at all ( I can't get into dancing with shadows!)... Before I go out and spend 100bucks on the Exhiliration set and then have it collect dust with the rest of my exercise vid collection - I'd love to know if anyone knows a way or channel that has Zumba on Demand... ( I have FiOs) I understand that we can pull up videos on youtube.. but well... computer isn't really placed in a position where I can view and dance at the same time... so I'd like something on the TV...

Any advise??
