no frisbee golf, but I did bike 2X and do some outside walking!
Nice to see the weather good enough for this to happen!
This weeks challenge is to contemplate you biggest health risk and a diet strategy to decrease it. Mine is cholesterol and osteoarthritis. So I will read and look for a new change to make in one of those areas.

I am a regular strength trainer so this was a piece of cake for me.
To many of those in my diet lately.
So this weeks challenge is to workout outside 2x this week. Maybe a walk, may be a visit to the park, roller blading, biking, frisbee golf. Probably other options as well. I rode bike today. Beautiful day for it.

I am working toward accoutability. I really challenged my support group about this this week. A friend from there and I are planning to work more on this.

This week I think we will call the strength training challenge. Work on doing some strength training 3 X this week. If it's not your normal routine try and build it in. So vital to helping strengthen bones, rev up metabolism and tone up flab.

I think I am doing fairly well with the sweetener thing. I have cut back considerably.
I am going to be working on cutting back more but I think I am going to rest here for now.
This week the challenge is to find a friend or acquaintance or even a spark buddy to share some accoutability with. Check back later in the week and let everyone know how you do with accountability.

I think my snacking has been more mindful. I think this challenge came about because of an episode I had with pistachios (8 oz.) after an unpleasant experience at Walmart. 'Nuf said.
This week in honor of my current push for myself. Let's concentrate on cutting back on sweeteners, both sugar and artificial, healthier (like honey or agave) and not as healthy. I am working hard on this one and inviting you to join me.

Not sure if I made this or not but I have been eating quite a bit of salad so I probably did. This weeks challenge is mindful snacking. Take the time to note how you are feeling when you have a snack. It might just tell you something that will be helpful.

Saw a few things lurking around this week. I looked at a vitamin company for a friend. They had some pretty interesting plant extracts and things and claimed stunning effects however all the research that supported it was in house. Big red flag for me.
I want this weeks challenge to be to aim for 4 servings of vegetables. French fries don't count.

I think the only new exercise for me is that I did triceps differently yesterday because I was working out at home with just some light dumbbells.
This week lets focus on health information/misinformation. Read a bit about warnings of false advertising on nutrition products. Spark has some great articles. See if you can spot a couple of bad ads this week and share about them.

I think I have made better choices dining out this week. I have dined out less. Haven't hit any fast food places for the most part. I might have had a salad at Wendy's on Friday.
This week let's focus on strength training. If you don't regularly train try to fit in a few things 2x this week. If you do try at least one new exercise.

I think for me to post challenges Monday is a better day so that is what I am going to aim for. This week let's try to make healthy dining decisions at restraunts. Now almost all restraunts have their nutrition facts posted online. This makes before the fact research easy to do.

I haven't tried a new to me whole grain this week. But I do enjoy Kashi 7 grain pilaf which is now available outside their prepared meals. I also have just finished a carton of organic multi grain rolled hot cereal with rye, oats, wheat and barley in it.

can't say I made that work this week. I did have asparagus yesterday.
New challenge of the week is to try to avoid all absolutely all trans fat. That means read the labels, even if it says zero if there is partially hydrogenated oil it has trans fat!

I did pretty well with the vegetable thing. I have been trying to eat more salad. One day I had to count condensed tomato soup if I was going to be at three which I think means I didn't make it. But the rest of the week was good.

Didn't get here to post the new goal yesterday.
Here it is. I am calling it the sugar free gum challenge. When you are tempted to eat something you shouldn't try some sugar free mint chewing gum to calm the urge to eat. I find it makes my mouth taste fresh and takes away some of the urge to eat.
Let's keep track and see how many naughty foods we can avoid this week!

Hey all it's the 7th of January. How many days have you moved. I have met my exercise goal 6 out of 7 days. Wed. was an off day for me. I walked and did a wee bit of ab work but that was it.

New Librarian,

Tomorrow is January 1. Our first weekly challenge for the 1st through the 7th will be to exercise daily. I am not going to set a number of minutes but make it a personal challenge for yourself.
