Right now feels like my goal for winter is going to be to maintain sanity but I want to not gain over the holidays and find time to stay active.

THANK YOU, Snakelady. I needed that reminder. I think that's my biggest challenge: finding a quiet time to meditate, contemplate, ground myself spiritually. We live in the country and I really, REALLY hate leaving the house during the winter. But I definitely need to find some good ways to stay active.

Yes, I know this topic was from 2010, but I think it'll still apply.

This winter I'm going to put a wood burning stove on my enclosed front porch, set up my stained glass workshop, continue instilling some manners into my dog, and spend time on here so I don't get discouraged by my scale.

BlueGirl ... I like the part about not staying holed up all winter; something I am guilty of. I hate the cold and don't get out nearly enough in the winter.

SnakeLady ... I'm glad to hear your knee is getting better. I wish mine was getting better, but it seems to be getting worse. I have been told I need a total knee replacement after breaking my tibia plateau in a motorcycle accident several years ago. I've been putting it off as long as I can walk but am having more and more pain and less and less flexibility. I feel the time for the surgery is coming near.

May you always have

Read & meditate on 1 chapter in my Bible, eat 4 servings of fresh, raw veggies, 2 fruits, and continue the rest of the 4 prolotherapy treatments I began Jan 4th. My 5-year-old knee meniscus tear--the one that the traditional doc said needed to be 'snipped off'--is healing, I can feel it!!! It only hurts a bit after I exercise now, and the joint is slowly regaining its flexibility.

emoticon SLIMMINIT2DAY! It is tempting on these very cold North Dakota days to snuggle up inside and keep warm. You don't have to go out into the cold to exercise though ... stay inside, stay warm, and walk to some Leslie Sansone DVDs, walk on a treadmill, work out with some Wii games ... there are a lot of indoor exercise options.

I am working towards meeting every scheduled workout on my Wii. With the cold weather I can not motivate to go out and walk. I'm a big chicken, big kudos to those who can! :)

Go outside and sled with my kids often! Climbing that hill is good excercise and fresh air is important, even if it is super cold!!

Way to go TerrieJo! It is really hard to get it in when the craziness of the holidays is surrounding us! Especially when you have as much other stuff as you have going on! Keep up the good work!!

I'm off to a pretty good start with my winter commitment to Leslie. I'm managing to get in my three walks a week, but have been struggling to get them in. I had hoped to be up to four walks a week by now, but just haven't found the time yet. Christmas is always such a busy time of year with the extra things we do ... baking, shopping for and wrapping presents, getting Christmas cards out (I have double duty there ... we send out about 100 cards as a family and I'm responsible for getting out our Boy Scout Troop's cards as well ... that's another 125.

Get back into the habit of walking with Leslie daily. My immediate goal is to get in at least three walks a week, and to be walking with her 4 - 6 times a week by the end of January.
