I think we should decide if we're going to play this game in English or in Japanese--mixing them is confusing me, and maybe others as well. We started the game in English and played that way for a long time. The Japanese words are a more recent addition.
Actually, the Japanese version of shiritori is a little different than the English--you match the last syllable (kanji?) of the old word to the first syllable of the new word, instead of last letter of old word to the first letter of new word. (Words ending in "n" not allowed.)

So how do we want to play? I'd vote for English, because my grasp of Japanese is so bad, but I'm flexible! Maybe we could even play both English and Japanese styles--having two different games in play in the same thread. I'll give that a try and see who responses to what. And please correct my Japanese! (My keyboard doesn't do Japanese kanji, by the way.)
