Fatal Flaws: Yeah, there's little hope if he's not attracted to women at all--or other deadly flaws. I'll just have to alter the "behind the scenes" qualities a little if there are any fatal flaws in my anime harem! heh. Cross dressing... I can see it now: "No! You can NOT wear my underwear out of the house!" Xellos from Slayers is STILL my favorite anime character and the character I'd most like to date. He's over 1000 years old, so my age shouldn't be a problem! Yeah, he's a demon, but he's a super powerful demon with a great sense of humor, wise, and more of a brat with mere humans than anything else. I'm sure it would work out between us...

So true, but then again, it's not unusual for a girl to think she can make the man of her dreams into a better person...
As for fatal flaws, well it's only fatal if you don't know how or can't work around things such as an unfortunate birth, crossdressing or at least bi-sexuality (though there's little hope for he is not attracted to women at all).

Oh, isn't that just the way it always goes! Those hot anime guys always seem to have one tragic, fatal flaw: gay, cross-dresser, demon... Of course there's also the classic female fantasy about being the one woman who can change/save him...

Thanks:) I haven't read the manga version either; but its only 13 books (yay to short series!). As for the Anime its 26 episodes about humans endowed with magical abilities (2 sisters, 2 brothers and a friend) who fight evil sorcerers. Ironically everyone in the show is named after a desert or vegetable. Basically it's a story about a guy who is wanted by the sisters but sees them as well...sisters.
Unfortunately their are really only two really hot guys in the series, one isn't interested in women and the other is a cross-dresser...

Hmm, if I could date my favorite character...I think I would date Gren from Cowboy Bebop or Millefeuille from Sorcer Hunters. As to why? Well that's a little complicated, but they are both hot and what I consider fairly datable...well sort of anyway

I agree that characters with fangirl appeal are NOT necessarily "datable!" But then, I didn't start this thread so, oh well.
I suppose the most accurate way for me to complete that sentence, "If I could date my favorite character..." would be "then it would be a sign of the impending apocalypse!" Fortunately I have a wonderful imagination where I'm always charming, beautiful, and young, with an age that can flex to accommodate my fangirl object. Therefore, I have a lovely anime harem! If I had to stick with anime characters I could actually date, I'd be stuck with those wise-but-perverted old men I see in anime, such as Happosai in Ranma 1/2. Who wouldn't date me because I was too close to their age. Gah! What about "datable" megane characters? There's Uryu from Bleach and Kyoya from Ouran High School Host Club, and...?

Oooh, there are a lot of characters I like for fan girl purposes. However, they're not really what I would call "dateable":
Ayame (Fruits Basket) = too eccentric...
Sesshomaru (Inuyasha) = a little too "dark"...
Leon (Tales of Destiny) = too young for me...
Jade, Emperor Peony (Tales of the Abyss), Captain Schwann (Tales of Vesperia) = all a little too old...
Yuki (Gravitation) = er...obviously that one's not going to work out.
As far as actual "dateable" material goes, I think I'd be tempted to pick Shigure from Fruits Basket, for an ideal man. And even though neither is really a "favorite" character of mine, I'd say Keitaro from Love Hina and Keiichi from Oh! My Goddess! are pretty close to being my type, really. I guess I kind of have a thing for geeks...I like someone I can feel comfortable around.

Bleach Uryu is kind of cute, but for some reason I'm so in love with Chad with his quiet teddybearness! Plus I don't know why I also love Ulquiorra. He can pull his eye out of his head and make sparklies with it. Whats not to love about that? I also think Rukia is cute, but get a sense she'd beat me up so personality wise Orihime would probably be best except I'm not all about orange hair.
I don't know if I should put my list up cause I have so many favs it may take up alot of space. All that above was just about Bleach.

Good choices for your anime/manga harem, Sparker59!
Okay, I have a question about anime harem-able characters: What do you think about megane characters? (Glasses)
Personally I LIKE glasses on male anime characters! (And men too...) However, it takes more than glasses for a character to make it into my anime/manga harem. Gendo from Evangelion will NEVER get NEAR my harem! If Uryu from Bleach had a better hairstyle he could make it, and my absolute harem kings don't happen to wear glasses.

Good choice! And living forever in your heart definitely counts. Heck, if we can fantasize about dating animated characters, there HAS to be room for fantasy dates with Mifune Toshiro!

Since I know nothing about Anime/Manga, I'll go with the Japanese Cinema ~ and the only choice is: Mifune Toshiro or Toshiro Mifune ~ gone...but lives forever...in my heart

I know how that feels! I once got a Death Note doujin that had Mello, Matt, Near, Light, and L on the cover, but the main story was all about Light and L with Mello, Matt, and Near appearing only in the omake section, thereby only showing up for like . . .two panels.

Kyoya, Kabuto, Ishida... Oh, YEAH!
Greed... doesn't work for me. His glasses seem to be more of a fashion statement than actual glasses--the phony! Dr. Umeda in Hana Kimi, Soubi in Loveless, Yukito in Card Captor Sakura... Yum! I'd add Tezuka in Prince of Tennis, but he is a little humorless for my ideal taste.
heh. I bought a doujinshi of Hikaru no Go with Shindo and Akira just because they were both wearing glasses on the cover. Turned out it was an evil ploy to get my money--they didn't wear glasses in the actual story.

Ooh definitely! I love his goggles.
And I don't think you're alone! After all, there's the classification of "megane" characters. Renge-chan in Ouran became obsessed with Kyouya because he looked like her favorite "megane" character in a Dating Sim game!
And I think they look nice too.. Ishida in Bleach. . .Kyouya in Ouran . . . Kabuto in Naruto. . . Mikami in Death Note . . . Greed in Fullmetal Alchemist. . .the list goes on!

Oooooh! THAT guy! Well, no wonder I didn't remember Matt. Thanks for the link too; it was enlightening.
I think I understand why Matt has a large fanbase--it's the GOGGLES! They end up looking like interesting glasses, which doubles his attractiveness quotient. heh heh.
There's not a lot of anime characters I could "date" without going into "fantasy me" mode. I'd be all about dating Sakura's dad, Fujitaka Kinomoto, in Card Captor Sakura, though. Who...happens to wear glasses...

Hehe! Matt is the character who only has about ONE line in the entire anime series, and only a handful of scenes in the manga, but somehow has a very large fanbase.
Matt (or Mail Jeevas) is basically Mello's (supposed) best friend since he shows up next to him in scenes after the explosion that gave Mello his scar.
He's seen playing with a handheld game system mostly, he always wears goggles, and Mello makes him watch Amane Misa's movements closely on the various computer monitors around him.
Later we learn that Matt was actually third in line to be L's successor after Near and Mello.
That's the best explanation I could give though. This might offer better insight.

And yes! I think so too. When I first saw L I thought he looked kind of freaky. o.o But then I read/saw more and absolutely loved him afterwards! XD

Dating from Death Note... My fantasy me would definitely be willing to date L, but you're right--I don't think L would focus on anything but his current puzzle/challenge.
Matt...Matt... from Death Note? Refresh my memory, please. Which character is Matt? Matsuda? I don't remember the names of the American team too well. Has anyone else noticed that they may consider a manga character cute, but he doesn't achieve anime harem/date-able status until you see that character moving and talking in the anime?

While I'd love to date someone from Death Note, I know they'd probably be much more interested in their own goals rather than relationships. Matt might be the exception though...

I don't really watch much anime any more, but I always did think Nicholas D Wolfwood from Trigun was a hottie. ;) Also, Bleach's Abarai Renji.
I think my all-time favourite will always be Reno from FF7: Advent Children. ^_^

Oh, and LadyTroll, it's not greedy to have number of anime characters you'd lke to date--that's just an anime harem!
I have a lovely anime harem of my own, but I'm always interested in adding new members--like Watanuki from xxxHolic!

Sesshomaru is an excellent choice! He's possibly my second choice, but I'm going to pick Xellos from Slayers for my favorite character to date. Why? "That's a secret!" Okay, any anime character that can give me a permanent fetish for pageboy hairstyles on male anime characters has got to have a special charm.
