I'm back, and sorting through 1500 pictures! Seriously. LOL!
Short version: The music part of the trip was FABULOUS, the ship and NCL was FABULOUS, and the weather... was not. LOL!
Cozumel was lovely, though our excursion got cancelled and we got moved to a different tour that didn't include ANY of the things that led us to choose the original tour. *sigh* The water was too choppy to snorkel, so they totally nixed sending us down to Punta Sur, and put us on the Jeep Tour instead. We got some beach time, and that's about it.
We couldn't go to Great Stirrup Cay due to weather, so we went to Key West, instead. It was like 50 degrees. LOL! When I got home to Rochester, NY, Saturday, it was 52. We could have done more on Key West if it was a planned stop, and warmer, but we made the best of it.
A lot of the pool deck concerts got relocated indoors due to weather (we had a spectacular thunderstorm on Monday evening), and those that weren't were cold and windy. It was funny seeing so many people in sweatshirts!
I plan to do a full recap/review on Cruise Critic, in the NCL section of the forum, some time this week. I may cross-post it here. :D It won't be a normal review, because Ships & Dip is not a normal cruise, but it might offer an interesting perspective on cruising. :D It will likely have the same title as this thread, maybe with the dates added. :)
The one thing that struck me most was the NCL crew getting into it so much! They were having a BLAST. I guess Carnival has "been there, done that" because of The Rock Boat (which is a lot more rowdy than Ships & Dip, according to the Sixthman Event Security guys in the yellow shirts), but this was an all-new experience for NCL. I saw an officer (in his jacket with the stripey sleeves) taking pictures at one of the pool deck concerts.
My favorite moment was eating at Tango's (tex mex) with friends, and having Brian McMillan playing in the atrium below... he played Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer," and we were all singing at our table. The waiter was singing, too! I asked him how Ships & Dip compares to a regular cruise, and he said the regular cruises were boring. LOL!
Final thought: I am really having a hard time getting used to NOT sanitizing my hands all the time. LOL!
