Awww! My family had a hedgehog when I was in high school, and she was SO sweet! When she got all huffy and put her spines forward on her head, we called it her "Elvis" look. :)

Hedgehogs as pets were still fairly unusual back then, and our vet had never treated one- that led to some strange days when she had a cold tummy... and when she started foaming at the mouth when she accidentally tasted Jell-O.

I hope you're having fun!

I am an animal person and I would LOVE to have a hedgehog. I came close to getting one a few years ago but my husband and I talked it over and we just couldn't afford it at the time. Since then, I have never had the opportunity and besides, I just don't have time for another pet at this time in my life. With a bunny, 3 cats, fish, 2 large dogs and 2 cockatiels, not to mention the chickens, I think another pet would probably drive me over the edge. lol.

Hurray! Muni is so small and cute. I got angry huffs when I woke her up today and then happy snuffles when she was climbing all over me. Hedgehogs are the best.

Yes, there are lots of pet teams on here. I'm a member of Spaniel Lovers and Alternative Pets.

They're very low maintenance, which works well with my schedule of constantly studying. They're so curious about everything that they're a joy to watch - they like to explore. I used to take my hedgie to the park all the time in the summer so she could poke through the grass and tree roots. I love how they make happy little snuffly noises and I even love their angry huffing noises when you first wake them up. I can't wait to have a new hedgie. :)

I'm not much of an animal lover but that seems like a very unlikely choice for a pet. What makes you want a hedgehog?

Hey all! While it's not directly related to my weight loss (other than some lovely stress relief), I thought I'd post about our new addition.

As of today, I'm the proud mom of an African hedgehog. I've been trying to get one from a breeder for a few months without any luck, but I suddenly got news today that my breeder found a breeder in Montreal with babies ready to go! So next weekend, I'll have a little ball of spines with me at last.

I'm so excited! :)
