NEW YEAR, IMPROVED YOU - NO EXCUSES!
We are going to take 2012 by storm!
BLC 20 (Biggest Loser Challenge 20) starts on Monday 01/09/12 and ends with final weigh-ins on Monday 03/05/12. This is an eight week challenge.
For the start of the challenge, you'll be required to post your starting weight and measurements for chest, waist and hips.
After that, weigh-ins will be reported weekly and measurements will be collected again at the halfway point of the challenge (02/06) and at the end of the challenge (03/05).
Challenge weeks run Monday to Sunday.
Weigh-ins are due by Wednesday of each week. Each participant will post their weekly weigh-ins and healthy points on their team's page. All team captains will report their team's results by Friday and all-team results will be posted over the weekend.
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row (without letting your team know if you're going to be off-line in advance or unable to complete the challenge), you will be considered a "no-show/dropout" and will be dropped from your team's roster. (Don't let this happen to you!)
If you are dropped for "no show/no response" (meaning you drop the challenge without reporting to your team captain that you wish to quit the challenge) you may be reassigned to another team for the next challenge, at leaderships discretion, during the next challenge's sign-up period.
We will be tracking daily healthy points for BLC 20. Point totals can be reported weekly with your weigh-ins. Points tracking for each week will be from Monday to Sunday. Healthy points are designed to reinforce healthy habits, using Spark People tools, and supporting your team.
1) WATER - Give yourself 1 point for drinking at least 64 ounces of water each day.
2) FOOD TRACKING - Give yourself 1 point for tracking all your food for the day.
3) CALORIE RANGE - Give yourself 1 point for eating within your given calorie/point range for the day.
4) SPARKING - Give yourself 1 point for supporting your team by posting on your team's page or supporting a teammate with a sparkpage comment or goodie each day.
4 points possible each day
28 points possible each week
Each week, there will be one all-team challenge. Most challenges will be exercise focused.
Information about each week's challenges will be posted on the 30-somethings main team page and on each team's private team page. The challenges will be posted by Friday night for the coming week. Each participant is responsible for posting their individual results to the weekly challenge threads on their team's page. Please be sure to participate to help your team's overall ranking for the challenge.
For BLC 20, challenge points earned will be averaged by the number of active team members per team. Rankings will be based on this total.
Overall Team Winner
All Teams are tracking the following things:
1. Pounds lost
2. Percent lost
3. All-team challenge points (team average)
4. Healthy points (team average)
5. Inches lost (chest, waist, hips)
Each week, every team will report their totals for these items (except Measurements-those are only taken for the starting, midpoint and final weeks). Each team will receive a number of points based on their ranking.
EXAMPLE: If there are a total of 7 teams, results would be figured like this:
The Clear Team is 1st in pounds lost (7 pts), 3rd in % lost (5 pts), 4th in inches lost (4 pts), and 1st in healthy points (7 pts). That is a total of 23 points for that week.
The team with the most points is the weekly winner. The team with the most points over all 10 weeks will be crowned BLC 20 Champions!
Guidelines to help raise your chances of success:
Participate in team discussions and challenges. Being active on SparkPeople will help you reach your goals.
You must accept SparkMail (as it's our main source for sharing important information) and it helps if you have a public SparkPage so that teammates can leave you comments and goodies to support you during the challenge.
Don't hurt yourself! Stay safe! Push yourself, but don't overdo it. We don't want anyone visiting the ER because they went overboard on a challenge!
If you are unable to do any all-team challenge for any reason, please contact your captain or me for an alternative so that you can participate fully.
Again - we want people to get HEALTHY - NOT HURT!
The minimum requirement is to weigh-in each week. However, tracking your measurements, daily healthy points, and points for all-team challenges will increase your chances of success!
BLC TEAM MOTTOS:
PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION
PARTICIPATION = SUCCESS
If you are ready to commit to yourself, your goals, and your team - then this challenge is for you!
The captains and co-captains on this team are an awesome group who will do what they can to help you succeed! But YOU have to do the work! We can give you the tools and the encouragement and the support - but we can't make you log on, pass on that donut, or tie you to a treadmill! You have to do that FOR YOU!
If you have any questions, please ask your team captains or SparkMail me (NEWSTART127).
Regardless of where you are on your personal journey, take this opportunity to make this day the start of something special!
Today is the first day of the rest of your life! It's a NEW year! It's time for the Improved You to Emerge! No Excuses!
Cheers! LET'S DO THIS!!!
