Hello Ladies! Hang in there Missy! Great post Maleena! I had my fat pinch yesterday for my gyms biggest loser challenge and was down another 2% fat. emoticon I have not gained any muscle though, so my trainer is having me double my morning snack. Another emoticon I'm excited to be able to eat more food emoticon . So I picked up a bunch of the 100 calorie packs, cause they are good for the kids too. We also have a stocked crisper with oranges, and apples, and carrots, and grapes. I have tried really hard to keep on track this weekend, and I think I am doing ok. Have a wonderful night!

Thanks! Posting Tuesday morning will be great and I think this upcoming challenge will be a good one for me. All I drink is water. I am lucky in the respect that I happen to prefer it so hopefully I can really help the point tally for our team. Other upcoming challenges my be a lot more effort for me but I am happy about this one.

Have a great evening!

MastiffMom -- CJmommie is correct -- as long as you get your info to me by no later than Tuesday night (Wednesday noon at the latest), I am good to go -- I have to get my report in Wednesday evening. If you know that you are going to have a problem getting info to me, just let me know and we can work things out, no problem.

She is also right that we will only be doing measurements again in a couple of weeks, not every week. But if you want to check your progress, go for it! :) I usually measure myself each week, because sometimes the scales lie, but the measuring tape doesn't, you know???

Just for everyone's info, I will need the following info posted in the new weekly thread (I will send you all a link to it later this evening):

SW (challenge)
CW
Healthy point total for the week

The other thing that will be starting tomorrow is the weekly challenge between the teams. We used to do a weekend challenge each week, but they have scrapped that in favour of a challenge that spans the entire week. They will be starting a new thread in the Biggest Loser forum where you can post once and edit that post each day with your information, or keep track all week and post once on the following Monday. The leader is adamant about only one post, to make tallying easier.

Here is the description for this week's challenge (starting Monday):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WEEK 1 (Jan 19-25)- Water Challenge--
# of oz = # of points
Post totals for each day (if daily total is 64+ get bonus 5 points & if daily total is half your body weight get 10 point bonus)
Be sure to post your current weight if you want to earn extra points and don't forget your team color.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The more of us that participate, the more points we will get as a team, and the higher rank we will get for the challenge. We already track our water for a daily healthy point, so it shouldn't be much extra work for you guys. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Sherry -- awesome news about your grandma!!!!

Chaleena--Great post! I will be checking out that blog. I think it is something we all need.

Mastiffmom--I think we have to have our weights and healthy points in no later than Tuesday night. So Monday or Tuesday is fine. I don't think we have to give our measurements again until the middle of the challenge.

Everyone else--I hope you are having a relaxing, spark filled weekend.

Sorry guys i did not get a chance to check in yesterday.

Sherry, I am glad to hear such wonderful news about your grandmother. That is wonderful.

Missy, I am sending lots of hugs and positive thoughts your way. You are so worth it. I dare say we have all been so far down we can't even see daylight. We are all here for you.

I do have one question. Are we supposed to post measurements and weights on Monday or Tuesday morning. Honestly, I am hoping the answer is Tuesday morning becauise I have to get up extra early in the morning to drive to NC. I will be back home tomorrow evening. I plan to do my cardio before I leave but won't have time for much else. I am going to pack my lunch, water, lay out my clothes, and business material tonight. Fruit smoothie for the road for breakfast, husband will feed and take care of the dogs and the car is full of gas and I will pack what I can in it today and clean it out. It's gonna be cold in the morning too so thank goodness for seat warmers. LOL!

Wishing everyone a great day!

Missy first of all here is a big hug (((((((((Missy))))))))
Second of all I so totally understand where you are at and I have been there many times. I totally agree with what was said about the negative self talk. That is what gets ome off track in many areas of life on a regular basis. I found a spark page from here and went and looked at his blogs and then to a link that he gave on one of his blogs. The words that I read, for some reason, totally clicked and have helped me tremendously the last two weeks. I finally understand I am in control of me, and I am really starting to learn to love myself for me, although I definitely want to make changes to be healthier. But I CAN love ME for ME regardless of what anyone else says to me. I am going to copy and paste the whole thing, in hopes it will give others encouragement as well. I am also going to put the link there. The link sounds wierd, but I promise, it is a safe link, and well worth the long read. Keep on keeping on Missy, you will get through this. I love you!!!
Here is the link www.hackyourself.org/
Here is the blog

You can be happy. You can live the life you want to live. You can become the person you want to be.

This is what I've figured out so far.

Stop assigning blame. This is the first step. Stop assigning blame and leave the past behind you.

You know whose fault it is that your life isn't perfect. Your boss. Your teachers. Your ex-lovers. The ones who hurt you, the ones who abused you, the ones who left you bleeding. Or even yourself. You know whose fault it is — you've been telling yourself your whole life. Knowing whose fault it is that your life sucks is an excellent way to absolve yourself of any reponsibility for taking your life into your own hands.

Forget about it. Let it go. The past isn't real. “That was in another country, and besides, the wench is dead.” If we're not talking about something that is real and present and in your life right now, then it doesn't matter. Nothing can be done about it. If nothing can be done about it, then don't spend your energy dwelling on it — you have other things to do.

I may sound cruel, I may sound simplistic, I may sound like I'm saying you should just “get over it,” by suggesting that you should let go of your past. I'm sorry for that. But life won't hold still and wait for you to lick your wounds. The race is still being run. Get up and keep moving. You can't do anything about yesterday.

You can do something about tomorrow. And about the next day. Focus your energies there.

“I don't have time to write.” “I can't dance.” “I can't talk to new people.” “I'm not attractive.”

I hear this all the time. I always hear the people around me sabotaging themselves, drawing lines and borders and boxes around themselves.

To which I say, make the time; dance; just talk to people; be attractive!

Yes, again, it's simplistic of me to say that. But it's simplistic of you to so easily say what you cannot do!

We're excellent pattern-matchers. That's what the human mind does — it's a pattern-matching engine. So we look at ourselves, at our history, at our behaviors, and we draw straight lines between the points — we assume that just because we've done things a certain way in the past, we'll always do them that way in the future. If we've failed before, we'll always fail.

Screw that.

Surprise yourself. No — amaze yourself.

You don't have to keep doing the things you hate. Why go home and beat yourself up for, say, not going over and saying a few words to someone you find really attractive? Can any damage they could do to you by rejecting you possibly be any worse than the damage you're going to do to yourself for missing the chance?

Find the demon.

Do you know what I'm talking about? It's the little voice in the back of your head that's always whispering, “You can't.” You know the demon. You may think you hate the demon, but you don't. You love it. You let it own you. You do everything it says. Everytime there's something you want, you consult the demon first, to see if it will say, “You can't have that.”

What you don't realize is that your demon doesn't know anything. It's an idiot. It's nothing but a parrot, repeating back to you anything negative that it's ever heard, anything that makes you hurt, makes you squirm. If a teacher once told you “You'll never accomplish anything,” it was listening; it hoards words like that and repeats them back to you to watch you jump. It doesn't know what it's saying. It doesn't care.

Exorcise yourself.

You can take me literally or not, as suits you. But do, please, the next time you hear that voice in your head, imagine it, visualize it, as something physical that you can get hold of; tear it out of you, feel its fingers weaken and lose their grip on your spine, and grind it to dust, to nothing, under your boot heel on your way out to dance in the streets.

You can. You think you can't; but it's telling you that. You can.

You don't exist.

You just think you do.

We're nothing but the stories we tell ourselves. We know in our hearts what kind of people we are, what we're capable of, because we've told ourselves what kind of people we are. You're a carefully-rehearsed list of weaknesses and strengths you've told yourself you have.

(Self-confidence, for example, is a particularly nebulous quality you can easily talk yourself out of having.)

You owe no allegiance to that self-image if it harms you. If you don't like the story your life has become — tell yourself a better one.

Think about the person you want to be and do what that person would do. Act the way that person would act.

Amazingly enough, once you start acting like that person, people will start treating you like that person.

And you'll start to believe it. And then it will be true.

Welcome to your new self.

You are a product of your environnent.

Most people realize this — usually, in the form of having something else to blame — but they tend to forget one important fact:

Humans are the masters of changing their environment.

What this means is that if your environment affects you, and you can affect your environment, then obviously, you can affect yourself.

Your environment includes people. Figure out who in your life isn't good for you, whose presence tears you down more than it builds you up, whose nearness is poison to you — and get rid of them. Get them out of your life. I don't care if it's your best friend, your boss, your mother, your lover — if they are harming you, if they are doing nothing but reinforce everything bad you tell yourself about yourself, then your relationship with them needs to radically alter or it needs to end.

Your environment includes goals. Don't set yourself pie-in-the-sky impossible goals and then beat yourself up over not achieving them — set yourself goals that will be good for you, not a source of pain. Attainable goals. Set them and meet them. Don't tell yourself you can't — that's the old story, that story you used to tell yourself about what a poor sad victim you were and how you could never change anything about your life. You can meet your goals. This is the new story.
Trying to clean your house? Good for you — a clean house can really affect your state of mind for the better. But don't say “Today I'm going to clean the entire house from top to bottom,” when you don't have the time and energy to — don't set yourself up for failure; don't feed the demon. Just say, “Today I'm going to wash all the dishes and clean off the kitchen counter.” And do it.

Don't tell yourself, “This month I'm going to write that novel.” Tell yourself, “Today I'm going to write five pages.” And do it. Take your dreams and break them down into small pieces and you'll have them in your hands before you know it.

And you'll find, as you start meeting your goals, that you like it. That it feels good, makes you feel confident and capable. You'll develop a hunger for it.

Your environment includes yourself — your physical presence. Do what you know you need to do — treat yourself better. Sleep, eat right, exercise. This doesn't mean you have to stop staying out late at night now and then, it doesn't mean you can't have a candy bar, it doesn't mean you have to stop sitting around watching television — it just means start doing the things that are good for you as well as the things that are bad for you, every so often. It's not an all-or-nothing proposition; you don't have to devote your life to being a health nut. Just try eating more fruits and vegetables, the occasional vegetarian meal; go for walks in the park on the weekends. You'll feel better and be more alert if you're a little healthier, and once you start feeling a little better, you'll start wanting the things that make you feel better. You'll see.

Your environment includes your appearance. If you're not happy with yourself, if you're angry with the person in the mirror, it can honestly help to literally change who you see when you look in the mirror. Try a different hairstyle, new glasses, new jewelry, new clothes. It doesn't have to be expensive — there's a whole universe full of possible You's waiting to be found in thrift stores, if need be. If you're deciding to become the person you want to be, then decide what that person is going to look like. Dress the part. It's not shallow, it's not about vanity, it's about self-transformation — even the most primitive tribes understand the value of costumes and masks for ritual, for change, for becoming someone else.
You are not an object. You are a system. Like with any system, if you change the inputs — change what goes into it — you'll change what comes out.

Despite everything I've just said:

Self-examination can be paralysis.

Don't “remember to breathe” — just breathe. It's a Tao thing.

It's the paradox at the center of all this — remember that, “Am I living up to being the person I want to be?”, is not a question the person you want to be would ask.

If I can leave you with just one thought, it's this:

Stop wasting your time fretting over not being happy.

Just be happy.

Has anyone seen anything about a weekend challenge? Missy, i have been there and totally understand that feeling... its good that you are talking about it and hanging in there with us -- you are too important to give up on yourself, you are WORTH the effort!

Whitney, congratulations on your new job! As far as something good to eat and different from soup... i'm going to have to think about that for a little bit, as cold as it is around here, i would imagine you'd want something warming... hmmm, those Lean Pockets are tasty but they are also FULL of sodium and the Slim Fast bars i've been eating for breakfast and lunch are starting to annoy the crud out of me so tomorrow i'm going to try and do some research to find some good food that we can take to work!

Missy -- my heart is breaking for you right now because I know EXACTLY what you are going through right now, and I am sure the rest of the team does too.

Right now you are stuck in a vicious cycle of negative questions, because that's what they really are: a bunch of questions that lead to a ton of negative self-talk. All I can tell you is that the longer you keep asking questions like that to yourself, and the longer you beat yourself up on the fact that you've gained weight back, the longer this vicious cycle is going to have a hold on you.

When I stopped asking myself all those negative questions -- because I was the queen of bashing myself, I was REALLY good at it -- and focused on really small goals, that's when I started losing weight for good. You know what the light bulb moment was for me? When I realized that if I lost 1 pound a week, it would take me 2 years to get where I wanted to be. And if I lost 2 pounds a week, it would only take a year! Considering the fact that it took me 20 years to get to my starting weight of 272, I thought that was a bargain! It hasn't been easy, and there are times when I have had set-backs, but I just say "Just one pound this week, Cheryl, you can do it!" and keep plodding on.

Some people have a hard time losing weight because of physical reasons, or medicine reasons, or mental reasons. You and me, we fall into the last category. Once we win the battle of the mind, we will be well on our way to winning the battle of the weight!!

So here's my challenge to you, Missy. I want you to focus on losing a pound this week. That's it. When the negative questions start flooding over you, I want you to get up from wherever you are, and walk around and just keep repeating "I WILL lose a pound this week" to yourself over and over again until it stops. And if that doesn't help, come and post here so we can try to help if we can.

You CAN do this, Missy, I know you can, one pound at a time.

I may be Canadian, but I don't say "eh"!

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA this week. I just started a new job on Monday. My life right now feels turned upside down. The only thing I've managed to do good this week is get my water in each day. Being so busy has helped me maintain my weight, but I need to see the scale start going down again! Does anyone have any ideas on lunches for me to take to work? My office is in a trailer with no running water, no refrigerator, nor a microwave! Have a thermos so I know I can take soups...but need more creative ideas!

I just can't get control of myself. I woke up this morning wanting to just eat eat eat. Almost as if it's the only thing I find joy in anymore. Even with the tears streaming down my face as I write this, I know when I'm done I'm going to order a bunch of stuff from the pizza shop and binge. I'm so unhappy and I don't know what to do. I'm not writing here looking for sympathy or anything like that. I just know that this is the only place where at least someone will have some understanding of how I'm feeling. And I won't be judged. All I've ever wanted was a somewhat normal life. Never wanted fame or fortune or things like that. I've always just wanted the things that most people take for granted...close to normal weight, a husband that loves me and a family of my own. Why can't I lose this weight? Why do I love eating so much? Why don't I have any self control?

Again, I'm sorry for putting all this on you guys but I don't wanna hold it in and let it boil up inside of me.

Isn't it annoying when people are drowning in their own self pity :(

Good Morning All,

I missed checking in yesterday. I was crazy busy. Kids had a 1/2 day, then DS had a b-day party at 3pm.
My parents decided to come by, so I could sort through my aunt's medical bills/claims, match them up and let my mom know what needs to be paid. Long story, short version: Aunt (age 88) is in nursing home. Mom is her power of attorney. I am the defacto medical claims go to person, because I worked in health insurance for so long.

Missy--we have all been where you are. No one brings the team down. We are here to lift one another up!!!

Kitten--Good Plan! Wonder if that is already in the cardio tracker or if you'll have to add it emoticon

Seems like everyone has had issues thrown at them this first week. And with the teams support, we are coming through them. That tells everyone what a great team we are.....GO GLADIATORS!!!

Have a great Saturday!

Good Saturday morning everyone!

Leena:That truely is a miracle and I'm glad she's doing so much better.

Missy:Don't even think about leaving we all go through hard times and this team sticks together no matter what.

Eliza: LOL on the cold up here in Canada, yesterday I thought the sun was making it better, which made me smile which made my eyes water and then they instantly froze!!! We laugh at work that whoever's car starts in the morning has to go and boost all the rest that won't.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day, go gladiators!

Quick check in tonight. It has been crazy as I see for several others too. I got only 30 min of cardio today but I did manage to get all 5 points today. It was tough and was worried I would not make it.

Celebration of life is tomorrow evening.

hugs and everyone sleep well.

Missy, Please do not go anywhere. You are part of our team and you are a valuable asset whether you realize it or not! Just keep going and do not leave us please!!! You can do this, and the fact that you are still here and drinking your water is a great way to get back on track.
Erica, have a great vacation. The hottub and workout room sound great. But you can keep the cold lol.
I am ss but I read so many posts I forgot who all posted them, please forgive me!
Congratulations on all of the sex that you are getting for cardi kitty!
SOVACMT wtg on all the fresh fruits and veggies. My 4 and 5 year old love fruits and veggies and they also look forward to grocery shopping. I usually cut them up and then put them in the new ziploc vacuum seal bags, some in the fridge, some in the freezer and it works great.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. My aunt is truly a miracle. Keep in mind, with no medical care, she actually had what they believe to be two strokes Wednesday night. She got to the point where her arm was drawn up, her face was droopy, she had a hard time talking and understanding. The elders came over and prayed for her then She "went to sleep" and when she woke up she swears up and down she died, and her face was better, her arm was better, she could talk normal and completely knew what was going on. As of today she was talking normal, practically running to the bathroom and doing wonderful. I truly appreciate all of your support. Sorry I was not here yesterday but my cousin brought her 12 year old daughter to stay the night with us, while she and my mom went to stay the night with my Aunt. We decided to make the banana oatmeal cookies that are in sparkpeoplerecipes.com and we also made the applesauce oatmeal muffins, but we were baking until midnight. BTW they are delicious and I don't feel guilty about eating one or two of them. My daughter liked the muffins so much, she ate 4 and wants to make more tonight lol. Then my kids went to bed and my cousins daughter and I(I call her my neice) stayed up until 5 am talking, and listening to songs and music videos. It was some well needed down time and also wonderful bonding with family. I have been doing alot of that after being away from family for three years.
I only got 3 points yesterday and 3 points today, but that is ok, I am still here and doing my best.
I hope you all have a great weekend and I am so thankful for all of you. This team really keeps me motivated and thankful. I love you all, and I hope I can help you all!

@SOVACMT Jicama is tasty. Try a recipe for something like Jicama slaw. Jicama (to me) is a sweet tasting thing and it's really refreshing.

Most people don't cook it, though if you do, treat it like a stir fry vegetable and cook it to just tender, not mushy.

Missy, I will not ever boot you off the team because you are "holding us back". Team competition is great, but what is more important to me is that you keep sticking with it and push through the hard times. The Gold Team sticks together through thick and tin -- literally and figuratively!!!!

Speaking of being craptastic.....I finally caught my husband's cold and had to come home early today (my bosses practically shoved me out the door, they didn't want to get sick, and I really didn't protest, hehe). Lots of vitamin C for me tonight!

I may be Canadian, but I don't say "eh"!

Checking in!
I get only 3 points today!
-1 for no breakfast and -1 because I have not eaten all day I likely wont his my calorie mark today.

I had car issues this morning, so I cant go to the gym... but I am making the time up on my home gym... so I think that counts.

I am craptastic and DREADING knowing what's up with my car.

I'm not sure where the rest of you are but the ice age has returned and it's SITTING ON NY.

(For those of you that happen to be Canadian, I apologize and offer condolences. I know you guys cant even sneeze without having it freeze in mid-air!)

Keep warm everyone!!!

Sovacmt - I have never had jicama. However, I have heard that it is very good. Many people cut it up into sticks and eat them raw. I might have to try it sometime. I'm jealous of all those veggies you bought. I bought a bunch frozen the other day. I can't wait for summer.

Good luck to the team this weekend!

Checking in for today -- man what a long cold day, can't wait to go home!!

wow PWD, I'm jealous!!! I'm in Michigan can I come too!!!! :)

KRISTIRAE: I have the !!!exact!!! same issues on the weekends....my goal this weekend is to try to use the clock like im at work and see if I can "remember" to eat when I should and get all my water in!

MEDUSA: We bought so many different kinds of fruits and veggies..broccoli, green onions, red/yellow/orange peppers, mushrooms, lettuce, spinach leaves, zucchini, avocado, tomatoes, asparagus....apples, oranges, plums, peaches, grapes, pineapple, cantalope, strawberries, kiwi, grapefruit, lemon and lime.

When there saw a Jicama -- almost got one but no idea what to do with it...looked it up online, sounds interesting. Has anyone ever cooked with/eaten one??

I also bought a double boiler/steamer combo thing to steam the veggies in!! So, tomorrow I will be cutting/slicing/dicing and storing in the little veggie ziplocs!

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!! Stay warm and on track WE can do it!!

Missy, don't you go anywhere! We are a team, and we stick by each other during the good times and the difficult ones. I'm glad you're here!

Kitten, while I am sorry about your knee injury, you are one lucky lady! Enjoy all that "cardio" ;)

I am heading out of town for vacation. My friend and I are going to northern Michigan (because -5 degrees here in Ohio just isn't cold enough, I guess!) to stay at another friend's winter house (I don't even have one house -- can't imagine having two!) I've never been, but I hear it's a nice, large home with a fireplace and a hot tub. And, thankfully, a workout room. So, while I won't be here, I will be putting in some serious workout time and thinking of my Gold Gladiators.

I'll touch base again when I return Tuesday, with my weigh-in results. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi team! I haven't disappeared. I've just been dealing with my crazy life, as it seems the rest of you have been as well. We've had our share of family crises this week and I hope things are finally starting to settle down now. I haven't done well with my points this week, but I'm back on track today and will be on track all weekend. I work weekends and it seems that sometimes it is easier to be on track when I am at work. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I don't know if I will get a chance to get on here over the weekend, except to track my food and exercise.

Kitten you lucky girl lol. Now if someone could just convince my man of the same!

I made a very small step in drinking 8 glasses of water yesterday. It's a start. Gaining 19 pounds in 5 weeks has really got me down but I refuse to give up. Although if at any point you all feel I'm hurting the team because I can't get it together please let me know. I wouldn't have hard feelings if you wanted me to leave the official challenge but I will not stop being a part of the team :)

Thanks, Ya'll. I've convinced my husband that having sex every day will help me with this challenge. Burning those extra calories and picking up cardio minutes anywhere I can. emoticon

In addition, I'm doing some really great upper body stuff and my physical therapy is daily and it's intense in its own right.

I'm glad to see everyone keeping busy and posting their progress!

Leena - I am glad that I was able to give you a moment of laughter today. :) Since I have moved to the US, as soon as people hear I am from Canada, they immediately use "eh" and "aboot" in their sentences. Now there are lots of Canadians that say "eh" -- I am not one of them! hehe

I am sorry to hear about your aunt. I want to reassure you that she is telling you the truth when she says she is not in pain -- I had one 6 years ago and I didn't hurt afterwards. I know watching a loved one struggle is so hard, and sometimes becoming numb to it is the easiest way to get through it. Don't feel guilty Leena, your aunt knows you love her! Hugs to you. :)

Kitten -- knee injuries suck! But maybe we can do some searching and help you find some resources for workouts that will help you out. I know that a former teammate of mine had trouble doing regular crunches, and he would sit on the edge of his bed and reach down to touch his toes. When there is a will, there is a way!

Sovacmt -- I want to hear what your daughter convinced you to buy at the grocery store! hehehe What a good example you parents are giving your kids -- the gift of excitement of healthy living. woohoo!

Eliza -- I've heard about the benefits of grapefruit, but haven't tried it for myself because I personally don't like the taste. I also have heard that it can mess with medication, so be careful if you are taking something.

5 points for me today. Time for me to go to bed. Take care everyone.

Hi all! I am checking in for the day. So far this week I have earned 19 points only monday I didn't earn all 5 because I decided not to go to the gym. I shoveled snow instead. Once again I am sorry to hear about everybody's life issues. I am so glad we can all support each other. I had a rough day too, and I looked to the boards to get my mind off the stress and it really helped. The weekend is coming up and that is when I am the worst, not so much for over eating, but not eating enough and not getting my water in. When I am at work I know to eat my snackbar at 10, and again at 2, and eat lunch in between. But on weekends, I don't eat breakfast right away, then I get busy and I don't have my snack, then I eat a bigger lunch to make up for it. And so on, but I think the challenges I am in right now are going to give me the motivation to be have this weekend. We'll see. TGIF! BTW I don't know where everyone is from, but up here in MN school was called off today because it was -34 and -50 windchills this am. It never got about -17! Tomorrow morning is suppose to be -20 with -40 windchills, so school is 2 hours late. BURRRRRRRR! emoticon

All I can say is what a wonderful, supportive team. You guys are awesome and I feel so blessed to be part of this team.

There is so much going on right now with many on here and we just have to keep lifting each other up.

I hope everyone has a restful night. It sounds like we all could use it.

Points for Tuesday:
Stayed within calorie range-1
Kept my exercise routine-0
Drank crazy amounts of water -1
Participation-1
Breakfast-1

I missed the work out point because the kids are sick. I spent my lunch stair climbing time making MD Appointments and my after work gym time at the clinic.
TOTAL TUESDAY POINTS…..4

Points for Wednesday:
Stayed within calorie range-1
Kept my exercise routine-1
Drank crazy amounts of water -1
Participation-0
Breakfast-1

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday, I was busy with backed up work, making time up at the gym and runny noses at home.
TOTAL WEDNSDAY POINTS…..4

Gracious Grapefruit:
I read somewhere (and I cant site the location now, but will find and post it later) something about how eating grapefruit can increase fat burning. Now, I’m not apt to buy into fads or old wives tales but I think there might be something to it. I have been eating a lot of Ruby Red grapefruit and I seem to be avoiding a plateau. I know this challenge is only in it’s first week, but I have been on an active challenge of my own for the last 2.5 weeks. I usually hit a plateau after 10 days, but this hasn’t happened. I doubt it’s because of these big sunny fruits but it’s a nice thought all the same.

Time to read the other posts!!

Wow, it sounds like a lot of us are dealing with a fair amount of "life" right now. I am so impressed that with the sorrow, grief and other bad news some of you are dealing with, you're still here, making a commitment to a healthier you. That is more inspiring than you know -- I thankfully don't have any large issues in my life right now, but I have been slacking off my workouts anyway. After reading all of your posts, I got my butt off my computer chair and worked out for 45 minutes last night. Thank you all for your example -- I need it!

Kitten- sorry to hear about your knee. Just take care of yourself.

Leena- I am sorry to hear your Aunt has taken another turn. No one ever knows what to say when there is a family crisis like this but just know that we are thinking of you and your family and our prayers are with you.

Thanks for the condolences on my friend's daughter, Tiffany. Knowing how Sandy has benn through this whole ordeal. I truly do not know how she is going to be able to handle this.

There sure is a lot going on with all of us here and I hope we just continue to be supportive and that we ALL lose lots of lbs. and inches. I keep myself motivated by keeping notes on my fridge and vanity mirror about my business trip to San Diego in May. Of course that is not the reason I am trying to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle but using things like that help keep me motivated especially when I get news like yesterday.

I hope everyone has a good day and does well with their healthy points. Now I am off to do my cardio and get ready for work.

Hugs

Today I found out that in order to stay out of the operating room with my knee I have to stop exercising on it and stick with physical therapy as my only lower body work. I can still work my arms and core as long as I don't put any pressure, strain, etc on the leg. That means I have to workout from a seated position.

I have a double torn meniscus which is a recent injury, on top of an ACL Tear from last year. That leg is twisted and has been since birth, so it's always been a little tender.

So I'm not thrilled with the prospect of not exercising the way I'd like, but I'm less thrilled with the prospect of surgery on the knee.

At the end of this challenge, my arms will be pretty toned, especially if I spend all of my exercise time working them.

:)

Cheryl, I am laughing so hard at your comment that you may be canadian but you don't say eh. I just heard a long convo. in pogo about Canadians saying eh all the time. I am just here to report my points for today. I only got 3 points today:( I actually drank all my water but I did not exercise and somehow I went over in calories. I think it was the unexpected trip to McDonald's, uggg! I ate a small cheeseburger with no mayo or ketchup, 20 fries, and 2 chicken nuggets and had some diet dr. pepper and then a cup of coca cola, uggg.
I also got a call, apparently what we thought was a heart attack must have been a blod clot in her heart. We can only speculate cause she doesn't go to dr.'s. But this evening I got a call that my Aunt went to the restroom and passed out. When she came to she was having a hard time speaking and not making alot of sense in what she says. It appeared she had a stroke and about 2 hours after that she had another one. Right now I am honestly thankful that she is not in the pain that she was Monday, but it appears that the clot must have gone to her brain causing a stroke. She says she is not in pain when she is able to respond. Thank you all so much for your support. I just needed to vent a little. I am having a hard time with it cause even thou I said goodbye Monday, I am not able to go tonight cause I have noone to stay with my kids. I have a hard time talking to, or being myself around people when they are very sick. I guess its my way of preparing myself and closing off my emotions to try to block the hurt I don't know. But I feel so coldheartedthat this is the way that I react. My family has a hard time with it at times too. I really hope they can understand that I care, because I do. Sorry for dumping this all on you all. I am just upset about my Aunt, and I wish I could have told her more when I saw her on Monday emoticon . I am also really pissed that I went over my calories without even realizing it and right now I feel like I am starving, ugggg!
I will try to be on here tomorrow but depending on what happens with my Aunt I may not be able to make it. I love you all and ty so much for your love, prayers, and support.

Mastiffmom -- so sorry to hear about your friends' daughter. Friends of mine lost their young son (leukemia) about a month before Christmas and I cannot imagine how they are coping with it all.

Sherry and Leena -- thanks for the updates. It seems that you all have fantastic families that are willing to just do what it takes for each other! It makes me really mad though to hear about people getting abused or maltreated in nursing homes -- that just stinks! It makes all the good health care workers look bad. I am glad that you were able to find another place, Sherry, and don't feel bad about venting here in the thread -- this is a safe place!

I hated that the BL vote came down to Dan and Jerry, but I was so happy to see how well Jerry was doing! That was very cool to see. And Bob getting cranky! whew! My hubby said "you KNOW he was ticked off by the amount of bleeps!" I think he swore more in that 5 minutes than I have seen in all the seasons put together! But it was a good episode overall, definitely.

I am so impressed with everyone -- I have heard from everyone but two people! That's 22 active members! yay! Thank you for being prompt and getting your information to me, it really helps me out to get my job done quickly. :)

With that being said, I want to post our combined starting weight. We weigh a total of 6160.9 pounds -- which looks like a lot -- and it is -- but we are gonna chip away at the mountain until it's a speed bump!!

Well today was kindof a struggle for me. I am still working on my water, so I will post my points for today, tomorrow. I have struggled drinking my water and also with exercising today but I am gonna try to get both done before bed!! Yesterday I ended up with 4 points. Keep going everyone I am very proud of you all.

Sherry You and your family are all in my thoughts and prayers. I am sorry that she was abused and that you all have to go through this. I pray that God will have mercy on her suffering and that she will start to get better. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers as well. My aunt suffered alot and was in alot of pain, but due to religious beliefs some of my family does not go to dr.'s so she is surrounded by friend and family that truly love and care for her. It is a catch 22 cause at times I wish she would go to the hospital to see if there is more they can do for her, but God has really taken care of her, and she is not being abused. Way to go on getting back with your program and doing the best you can even with the most stressful of situations.

Bronteg, way to go on eating breakfast. I have a hard time with breakfast, but I found a new cereal called Special K chocolate delight, and it is wonderful. I thought it would be flakes that would get all soggy and nasty with no flavor but I was soooo wrong. The flakes are thicker so they stay crispy and the chocolate is delightful. The flakes have just the right amount of sugar to give flavor without going into an overload. I love being able to have breakfast and chocolate at the same meal. It is only like 120 calories for .75 cups. I can have 1.5 cups(2 serv.) with on cup of skim milk and a banana for less than 400 calories and it is VERY filling. This might be a fast option before you head out on the road to work, or on your days off. I have even eaten it as a snack.

Kristi, I am proud of you for avoiding pop. I did something yesterday as a wonderful treat for the days that I really feel like I need pop or something sweat and creamy. I just use 8 oz of any brand club soda(zero calories and very low sodium) then I added sugar free syrup(the kind used to flavor coffee) I used 1 oz, which is 0 calories also, then I top it off with 2 T of half and half, which is 40 calories and gives a little bit of fat without over doing it. For 40 calories you have the fizz of pop, plus the creaminess of icecream or something else. I just add ice to fill the glass and drink away. You can also leave the cream out if you choose. Hopefully this gives you another option on the days that you really feel like you need to have a pop. I also posted the recipe on sparkrecipes.com, it is listed as Italian cream soda, or italian soda, I am not sure which.

Anne, I am sorry to hear that you are having an emotional day. I am here for you if you need anything at all. I am glad that the support from our team is helping you stay focused. I know it has been a God send for me too.

Sovacmt thank you for your kind words of support. Very good idea!

Nygiantgal- it is sooo nice to see you here. I am glad you are back on this team with us all.

Masiffmom1 I am very sorry to hear about your sorrow. My love and prayers are for you and for your friend. It is so hard to understand death and suffering at times. Unfortunately it seems to be a hard time of the year, with all that is going on with people that we know on our team, and also I just had a friend from an online pogo league who lost her husband to cancer today, and she is pregnant, due in July and has 3 other children. In this time of sorrow I just try to remember to be thankful for all that I have, and to understand that EVERYTHING is part of God's big plan, and we can't always see the reasons why or make sense of it all.

Whew! What a long day at work. I am also doing the boot camp challenge and the bonus workout was really hard. I really struggled with it but I did manage to make it through. Not pretty but I did it.

I got home and checked my e-mail and I get care page updates for the daughter of a friend of mine. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor 1 1/2 years ago at the age of 26. She lost that battle today. As you can see by my screen name we only have dogs but I just can't imagine the pain of losing a child. My heart is just broken for them. We never know why things happen. As they say it rains on the just and unjust. How tragic.

Hello All,

This is just a quick check in to let you know I am thinking of all of you. I am having a REALLY horrible day today (emotionally) and I would usually turn food to comfort me. But, knowing I have a team counting on me and knowing I have your support is really keeping me on track.

Thank you all

Anne

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a fantastic day! Bronteg-I struggled with breakfast too, but I drink my breakfast everymorning. There is a product called Muscle Milk, I drink the light version and only have 1 scoop in 12 oz of milk. My favorite so far is Bannana Cream. It is yummy, the chocolate tasted a bit off for me. There are a bunch of other flavors as well. It fills me up enough to keep me going for a few hours. I try to eat every 3 hours, so I am eating smaller meals. You could always add in an apple or bannana if you wanted to have a little substance with it.

Sherrywilson - I am so sorry to read about your grandma. Abuse is nothing to take lightly and it makes me sick that a vulnerable adult isn't being cared for properly. I am glad life is getting back to normal for you now. Good luck with the rest of the week.

Leena - I'm so glad your aunt is pulling around!

Cheryl - I love the biggest loser obviously. I thought it was so touching when everyone pushed the one guy up the mountain (haven't learned all their names yet). That is so monumental on so many levels. Don't we all need that type of support somedays? That is what I really like about this site, I feel that support all around. I also thought that this had to be the most emotional 2nd week vote off ever. They are both great people, and I was really rooting for both of them. But when I saw Jerry's after photos, he looks amazing, as does Estella. If they can do it I surely can!

On another note, it has been day 3 on the no pop challenge and I am holding in strong. It must have helped that I only had a couple everyday, cause I haven't even had any cravings. Yeah me!

Good Morning my fellow Gladiators!!

My thoughts and prayers are with both of you Sherry and Leena!

To all the new members you guys are really rockin this challenge, its great to see so many posts, they really inspire me to push just that little bit farther, suck it up and get it over with lol.

I have eaten breakfast two whole days in a row lol I hate eating breakfast! Of course I'm eating mine at 9:30pm as I'm driving to work so I have to make it something I can hold on to adds a little bit of thinking! my fav thing is a banana wrapped in a tortilla shell with peanut butter and the 8oz of milk the dietition insists I drink everyday! Lunch is ok, now I need to work on making healthy choices for "dinner" which is also to be eaten on my 1.5hour drive home! Hey no body ever said it was going to be easy, ha thats the understatement of the year.

The exercise thing is a whole other story I'm so pooped at the end of the day from haulin heavy stuff it is a struggle to convince myself that doing MORE physical activity is going to make me healthy, and thats where all the awesome support and feedback that this team is full of comes in handy, so today instead of dropping into my nice warm blankie I rode that beast with pedals for 20mins, so thanks to all!
Now I'm off to my blankie with no snacking, can't wait for that banana tho..... I hope you all have an inspiring day! Shari

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and support. God is an amazing God. My aunt is doing much better today and I know it was all through prayer.
Way to go Kristi on your class and for working so hard. You go girl!
On a positive note I found out yesterday morning that my insurance has a preventative health program and they are going to give me a $200 voucher to go towards my weight loss goals. I don't know all of the details yet but I know that part of it can go to the YMCA for a membership for me and my family. I am WAY excited.
Cheryl sorry that I forgot my measurements earlier but here they are.
Chest 50.5
Waist 52 (woo hoo I lost an inch)
Hips 58
Cheryl I like the biggest loser because they have so much to lose and I feel like I can really relate and if they can do this I can too. I was depressed about who got voted off, of course I was depressed that both of them were below the yellow line. I was hoping that the girl who made Bob so mad would get the boot.

Ok, so as I am watching The Biggest Loser (I record it on my DVR so that I can skip through the commercials), I've been reading all your posts, and you all inspire me already!

Just a couple of comments....

If you want to report your points every day, go ahead (whoever suggested keeping track of them in your blog or signature -- that is a great idea!), I don't mind. I can tally them either that way or if you wait until Monday that is fine too. I don't mind going through the posts again if I have to! :)

This week we will not be having a week-long challenge between the teams. Next week there should be a separate thread to post in. As soon as I know what the challenge is I will be sure to tell you and link to the challenge thread. :)

Leena and Sherry, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones right now. Hugs to you both!

Daily points for me today was 4. I constantly struggle with getting enough fruits and veggies in each day, and somehow today I did it! Yay!

What did you guys think of the Biggest Loser tonight?

Wow, Leena, I just read your post and all I can say is wow. You are an amazing individual. With everything that is going on in your life for you to support each and every one of us is amazing. I am very sorry to hear about your aunt. My prayers are also with you.

Sherry - I am also sorry to hear about your grandma, my prayers are with you too.

Everyone else - You all are in my prayers as well, so that you keep up all the positive attitudes. I really enjoy reading all these positive affirmations.

Today I survived my 3rd core class, and it was no more Mr. Nice guy. The trainer definitely kicked it up a notch, and jokingly said, oh, yeah you might be sore tomorrow. :) It was awesome! Then I hit the elliptical for 25 min. Feel the burn! emoticon

That is a great idea kitten -- I too, am going to track points on my blog and report on mondays with weigh in!!

Hang in there Leena! If you can manage 4/5 points with all you are going through, then you will only inspire the rest that they too can do it!!

Question -- I grill a lot of meat but only thing i can find is either pan fried/braised/baked -- how can I figure out the actual nutrition based on grilling and not those methods?

This is going to be a long post because I missed a day and a half with you all. Sorry for that. I did ok yesterday given the circumstances with my Aunt. Luckily I had already worked out yesterday when I got the phone call that I needed to go see her now! I still haven't tracked it yet, but I will, but none the less I did it. I somehow also managed to stay within my calories, probably because I came home for about two hours to make dinner and get my kids ready for the sitter, before I went back to be with my aunt. My Aunt is a wonderful woman, I actually lived with her for six months when I was in fourth grade and she is like a mom to me. She is doing much better thanks to the wonderful grace of God. Lastnight there was about 50 people at her house praying for her, and shortly after that she was able to rest and she is doing much better. She is choosing not to be in the hospital and is refusing medical treatment, so it is hard to see her in sooo much pain. I had no idea how painful a heart attack really was, I guess because most times you see people who are being treated for the pain and other symptoms. On that note, it really made me think about my health and how I really need to stay focused on my health because I do not ever want myself or my family to have to go through that. I managed to get 4/5 points yesterday, yeah me, I got them all except the water. With that said, here are a few things I wanted to say to posts on our team. I am so glad that we are all on this team together. Let's go for the Gold!!! emoticon emoticon

Erica, I am still laughing about the part of you hitting your shin on the vending machine while you walk through the lunchroom with your eyes closed lol.

Sovacmt way to go on avoicing the temptation. That is a huge hurdle that you overcame.

Cassie, We are all here because we have come to a point where we are very unhealthy. I see your tracker aat the bottom and you have already made such wonderful progress, I am proud of you :) It wouldn't matter if you were the biggest or smallest person on this team, we are still here for you and we want you on our team!!

Penelopecat Wtg on getting rid of those 24's lastyear. You can get into 22's comfortably. You are in the right place to achieve this goal.

Eliza, Very good luck on your journey and congratulations on joining this challenge. I am excited to have you on our team. I hope that your dress fits better than you ever imagined and that you have the wedding of your dreams.

Whitney, way to go on the new job. I am glad to see you back in this new challenge.

Dogmomandrn- ty your prayers are greatly appreciated. I will post more about that a little later in this post.

Kristi Very good luck on your goal to stop drinking soda. I don't like diet, but I have learned to like the Coke Zero enough to tolerate it. I also want to stop drinking it all together, but normally I only drink three Coke Zero's in a week, and one pepsi a week.

Cheryl. I am sorry to hear that your Dr. put you on high blood pressure medicine, but I am glad to see that you are so fired up about it and ready to change it! You go girl, sometimes that little bit of anger and frustration is just what we need to get a fire under our butts and do what we need to do. Very good luck, You can do this!

Mastiff- so far I do not see any other challenges. In the last BLC we did our challenges on the weekends, but I am not sure if it will be the same this time.

Sherry Wilson I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. My aunt had a severe heart attack yesterday and wasn't expected to make it through the night and she is refusing medical care, uggg! But she made it through the night and with the help of a whole lot of prayer she is doing much better.

CJMommie thank you for your thought and prayers.

Erica, I am also struggling with my water, especially since I moved back to Idaho where it is much cooler and I have family and so much going on. I am doing my best with it and I hope you can find a way to improve as well.

Thanks for the explanation. I just saw that folks were posting their points already and I didn't know if we were supposed to be posting them daily here, or if we were supposed to hold onto the info until it was asked for.

I'll be posting my information in my blog posts, and then tallying up at the end of the week when the info is asked for. :)

Kitten: Last challenge, we would post our points once a week, along with our weekly weigh in, in this weekly thread. So, once a week we would post our starting weight, our current weight, and our weekly points. The captain (Cheryl) would use that information to send on to the BLC leaders. Cheryl is an excellent captain (she was a co-captain in the last challenge), and is really good about telling us when she needs us to post what information for the challenge.

That's not to say you can't share how you're doing on your points each day with us -- I found it a good motivator to share where I was and get support for the problems areas I was having.

There were weekend challenges, too, when one of the teams (Gold Gladiators, or Pink Shrinkers, or whoever) posts a challenge for all the teams to participate in if they want. Those are in a separate thread, and those results get posted to that separate thread.

I hope this doesn't sound confusing -- it's really not. I was really apprehensive about joining the challenge last time around cause I wasn't sure I knew what I was doing and didn't want to "let the team down." But let me tell you, I am SO GLAD I joined, and couldn't wait to do it again! This is a really supportive place, and Cheryl is really, really patient and a good explainer of everything we have to do.

Where do we report our points? Is there a special thread? It has to get really confusing if the leaders have to search through all these threads for the points. :) Should we add the points to our signatures?

You ladies are really inspiring! I have been slacking off on my workouts this week, but you all help remind me that excuses will keep me where I am -- it's work that makes the difference. No matter what, I am doing my workout tonight!

I am having a really hard time with the 8 glasses of water. I'm not sure what, exactly, has changed that is making it so difficult for me this time around, but I am really going to work at paying attention during work and make sure I am drinking lots of water.

So glad to be a part of this challenge and a Gold Gladiator!!!

WOW!! Everyone has really brought their game for this challange. This is my first one and I can't tell you how motivating you all are already emoticon .

Leena & Sherry--My thoughts are with you and your families.

Cheryl--That's the spirit, you are FIRED UP. I have no doubt that with your determination you will be off those BP meds in no time.

Eliza--I am also a carb addict. I am trying really hard to cut back. I doesn't help that my DH is a carb addict too. But I am switching us over to whole wheat breads and pasta so I guess its a start.

Well, have a great day, I have to go pick up my kids soon, so I may or may not be able to come back.

LEENA21775, the situation sounds so sad. Hang in there and take good care!

MEDUSA831, Blood pressure meds are a pain... but have a little faith in yourself, keep focused and you'll get off that stuff soon enough!

SOVACMT, ROCK ON HONEY!!! Visualize those little Peanutty drops of goodness as tiny clumps of choco dipped rabit poo!! Laugh and be proud of yourself!

Points for Monday:
Stayed within calorie range-1
Kept my exercise routine-1
Drank crazy amounts of water -1
Participation-1
Breakfast-0
(I am not a breakfast eater, and didn’t do it yesterday… BUT I HAD ONE THIS MORNING!!!)
I haven’t seen any challenges but then again I could just be missing them. Will keep an eye out.

TOTAL MONDAY POINTS…..4

Low Carb Thoughts:
So far I am doing really well and feeling better than I have in a long time. At one point I thought I might be a diabetic but testing shows that I’m not. In fact I don’t like sweets. They are the last thing to throw me off course. My vices are CARBY SALTS!!! Chips, Nachos, Potato Salad, Mexican Food or anything with rice and beans! I should really just take the fast route and start gluing potatoes to my rear end since it’s going there anyway.
My taste buds have a deep and consuming lust for the way these flavors seduce my mouth… but my body chemistry just feels fuzzy and sluggish with them. So Low carb it is.
Now this isn’t the first time I’ve done low carb so I’ve learned a lot about every phase of the process. In the beginning the adjustment period can put me in touch with my inner bitch and I tend to be a little moody. Once I’ve acclimated I can maintain high energy, strong focus and weight loss for a substantial length of time. However, when breaking the low carb practice in certain ways it can be unpleasant. My last round with low carbing ended in a blaze of glorious cheese fries smothered in refried beans and every delicious component imaginable. Compliments of human chemistry this had an erratically magical effect on my mood that moved my soon to be husband to suspect that I might be pregnant again. Yet when slowly adding carbs back into my diet things are happily less eventful.

Low carb bandy bars usually taste like a sadistic combination of protein powder and the adhesive paste used in elementary school classrooms. I find that the best way to handle the need for the occasional sweet is Hannaford brand fudge pops and their little 100 calorie ice cream squares. Now I know I said sweets are not my thing, but when low carbing the craving does arise about once a week. Even for those not low carbing these products are FABULOUS and cheap. The little ice cream squares look like little Klondike bars with either chocolate or vanilla ice cream covered in a thin layer of chocolate. Small and perfect!

I hope that everyone else is hanging in there and enjoying the challenge!

On a personal note, I am so excited to be on a team with so many enthusiastic "losers"!!

Wow, our team is raring to go! Look at all these fantastic goals!

SW: 249.5
GW: 235

chest: 45.6
waist: 40.4
hips: 50.8

My goal for this challenge is to get myself off of high blood pressure medication. I am SO ticked off about this I can't even tell you. My doctor put me on it since Friday and I HATE it. My blood pressure isn't that bad, but she is being prudent because I have a history of stroke. I hate taking more medication than I already do, so I am gonna work my butt off this challenge on my sodium intake and losing more weight!

I may be Canadian, but I don't say "eh"!

Hello Gold Gladiators. I am very sorry that I have not been here today. My aunt had a heart attack and has refused any type of life support so I have been with her and family most of the day. I am getting ready to go back this evening. It doesn't look like she is gonna make it and she is in alot of pain.
With that said, I am not able to do my measurements today, but I did weight in. I hope all of you are doing good so far. I am very sorry that I can't be here with you this first day of the challenge.

Peanut MnMs out for everyone? Your boss should be charged with creating a hostile work environment! Wow, kudos for you for not straying! I don't think I could have been so strong. I usually close my eyes when I walk through the lunch room on the way to the fridge for my afternoon grapes and cheese, cause everyone shares their candy, cookies and the like there. It's quite a temptation (not to mention a hazard when I misjudge and bash my shin against the vending machine!)

Kudos to you for sticking to your plan with all that office temptation!

should get points for sticking to eating only what i brought into work today -- since during the course of the day the boss put out: doritos, fritos, donuts, and hostess cup cakes (not to mention the peanut m&m's jar that is always full on his desk)! Seriously, does HE know im trying to lose weight and is testing me LOL .... Im very proud of myself :)

HI JDONEILNH

The Challenge is 8 weeks not 6! Your goal is a personal goal. I set mine higher than I think not to make myself feel bad but to give myself the extra push to get there.
Last time, I set mine kinda high and came within 3 pounds! Good Luck. We are here to support you.

Goal Weight: 260
Chest: 46.5
Waist: 47.5
Hips: 55.5

Wow! Either I have the length of this challenge wrong (thought it was only 6 weeks) or you all have great willpower because most of you are aiming for 15-20+ pounds lost. I based my goal on 6 weeks and the fact that I only average about 1.5 pounds per week even at my most deligent in the food & exercise routine.

Should I be resetting my goal? How long is this challenge?

Eliza: In answer to your questions, I changed the SparkPeople suggested nutrition goals to mine (I took part in a program at a local hospital before I found SparkPeople, so I am using the guidelines they gave me.) So, I think as long as you know what your calorie range is and you stay within it, you've earned your healthy point.

As far as the workouts, yes, I suppose we are on the honor system. I post them all to my fitness tracker to keep track, but there are times when I need extra accountability that I post them to message boards, too. Use this thread as a place for you -- we're here to help, so if it will help you be accountable and stick to your workout plan, by all means share your exercise with us!

In the past challenge, I shared whatever I was struggling with here, whether it was the Snickers bar I snarfed down or the treadmill I wanted to skip for the day. This team is amazing and really helped support me through the tough times, celebrate with me during the good times, and keep me motivated and on track every day. I hope you let it do the same for you!

Hello everyone, I'm Eliza. I joined SP last year but have only recently become more active. I have been a fan of the biggest loser television program and JUMPED at the chance to join this challenge.

Now here's the kicker...I'm getting married on April 4th 2009 and I have to lose just a little more weight. I've come to the point where I'm ok with being a plus sized bride, but there's nothing wrong with dropping a little weight before the big day. And....well ok....I admit it...I committed a cardinal sin of the bride to be! I bought my dress a little small to focus myself on losing that little bit of weight. I don't have far to go to fit into the dress but TRUST ME I am all for a motivating challenge like this one to help.

I am also doing a low carb, high lean protein, low fat diet. My body seems to respond really well to this! I have more energy and I feel sharper than usual.

QUESTIONS FOR THE MORE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE HERE:
1) Health points for staying with your calorie range... is this the range you have set for yourself or is it one set by the device on spark people's nutrition page? Does it matter?

2)Should we post our workout schedule here or are we working with the honor system?

If anyone could clue me in on those questions it would be much appreciated.

Now for the DREADED weigh in.

Start Weight: 297
Goal Weight: 275 (but I wouldn't object to losing more)
Bust: 49
Waist: 47
Hips: 57
Height: 5'10"

Exercise plan:
M-T-W-Th-F:
60 minutes cardio at the gym before work. 30 minutes stair climbing cardio on lunch!

T-Th
30 minutes pilates (focusing on the core) in the evening while watching my DVR recordings of House!

M-W-F
30 minutes weight training alternating days for upper body and lower body

I know this might sound like a lot of exercise, but I have been managing it pretty well for the last week. I have scheduled it in a way that is sustainable considering my schedule and lifestyle.
