ALLYSASMOM - You are so very welcome.

ATTAGIRL - We are here for you, so just come on back. You can't look back unless you look to learn from the past. Otherwise, the future is looking bright for you. Start today this very minute and make some great decisions. Looking forward to seeing how you are doing from here.

Today was great and I did an total of 103 minutes of activity so I am excited that it will fit into the weekly challenge.

Alwayz blessed,
Joynhrt

Hi Black Knights!

Sorry I've been out of touch lately - even missing last weeks weigh in. I am completely overwhelmed with stresses from school and work right now - so all of my efforts went out the window last week. And if the left over Halloween candy is any indication, weigh in next week isn't going to be pretty.

I have got to snap out of it and get back on track - NOW.

Everyone's stats look really good, I'm proud of all of you for your efforts.

Time to go figure out a healthy menu for next week, plan on grocery shopping in the morning.

Joynhrt - 42 pounds in 4 months is great! Congratulations!

Alyssasmommy312 - good luck with Weight Watchers. So nice that hubby is supportive and will watch Alyssa for you.

The weekend challenge is posted (I can't get the link to work; the thread is sticky at the top of the BLC forum). Again they're giving out 100 participation points for the team with the most members participating, so please try to join us!

The challenge is to see how many different things you can do sets of 10 of - 10 stairs, 10 situps, 10 lunges, etc. If you do more than one set of 10, each set of 10 counts as a point (so 30 minutes of walking is 3 points).

W2G, ALYSSASMOMMY!!! It has definitely worked for me. I have tried countless numbers of diets and programs and read many books and it was all leading me down the path to surgery. One of my friends was having such success on weight watchers, I decided to give it a try and here we are. I am down actually a total of 42 lbs since July 1.

You can do. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions.

Wow the Black Knights are doing great! Thanks for the little reminder I needed that too. I am eating some dark chocolate as we speak and it is good.

FMADKINS - sorry to hear you are sick. I agree with Alyssasmom. A low fat soup is alwayz a nice way to warm up your bones and loosen up all the ugliness inside our chest.

Keep up the great work team.

I'm really depressed cause I have a nasty case of bronchitis (again), and I really want to get back into my exercise routine now that I'm back home. I'm terrified this is going to halt my weight loss or make me gain weight and I'm SOOOO close to being out of the 300's. I guess I'm not asking for any help. I just need to vent...

BTW, anybody know of any low cal "comfort when your sick" foods???

Hope everyone else is doing well

Keep up the good work!

Faith

Yes, I haven't given in to the typical Halloween candy, but I did buy myself a dark chocolate dove bar to eat sometime. I like to see how long I can wait and then when I finally do break it open, I like to savor every morsal.

OMG, I know! I bought a bag for decorating cupcakes and did that (had maybe four or five myself - no cupcakes for me though (go me!!)), and then threw away the bag. My husband looked for them and when I told him I had tossed them he was mad! And then he came home with TWO bags last night!! Thankfully he go the carmel apple kind and those are just gross to me so I'm safe. Stand strong against the corn!!

Hey, Black Knights!

FMADKINS - Great idea to fight the sweet temptations. They mentioned it on BL tonight too. Way to go on vacation. That 1.1 lbs will be easy to drop. Its probably water weight. I know when I travel, I usually retain water.

AQT4CHANGE - I feel you. I am constantly feeling like a chicken running around with its head cut off. We have to learn to give ourselves some self-time where we can just go lay down and close our eyes and just reflect on ourselves.

JDARN - Candy is the death of many of us, especially during these times. Make sure to put it in your tracker before you eat. Set aside a small baggy of what you want through the day and track it before you eat it. Then maybe you will be aable to ration it out through out the day. Instead of picking through and then adding it up at the end of the day. The gum is cool too, but it ain't nothing like chocolate. Good luck.

Well, for me here are my stats for last week:

SW: 276
CW: 261.2
GW: 251
Total Loss this week: 3.6 lbs

Points: 54

Everyone stay encouraged.

Eh, the canvas covering the wagon's just a little scorched is all. We'll help you get it fixed proper... ;)

I'll let you know something that's been helping me lately and maybe it will help you...

Every time I want something sweet I stick a piece of sugar free gum in my mouth.

Now, there have been days when I've chewed a whole pack in a day, but it's helped me get past my cravings on those bad days.

Keep positive!

Hey all - I have fallen off the wagon and burned it. BURNED it! The halloween candy is killing me - just a bite here, a mini there but man is it adding up. and the snacking! Saturday and Sunday were not good, Monday I was ok, but today I was bad - AGAIN. I have got to kick my butt for the rest of the week and not erase all my hard work!

FMADKINS - welcome back from vacation! It's always nice to come back and have not gained or gained just a little - reminds you that you really can do this.

MEGAFEE - so sorry to hear the diagnosis. It sounds so painful.

No results yet on the weekend challenge. I calculated that we had 5 participants with a total of 613 points. I'll post more when we have the team standings.

Hi, guys! I LITERALLY just got back from Florida. Had a good vacation for the most part until yesterday when I developed Bronchitis and an ear infection. Needless to say the flight home was painful...

Hope everyone is doing great. I haven't had a chance to check calculate anything so I'll have to do that tomorrow cause I'm headed to bed now, but wanted to check in. Night all!

Uh oh, not good news. I'm meeting with a surgeon next week--I have severe herniations of my last 2 discs, and it's only something surgery will fix.

I'll keep you posted as things develop. :(

I am so excited to have held 199 for over 4 days now. Riding my bike every night is paying off.

Weekend challenge: I got 101 points. I could have done better but I forgot about candy and ate 1 skittle on saturday. Sunday went to fair ate fair food but I did great and had half a bean & cheese indian fried bread and drank my water. I walked for 4 hours probably about 4-5 miles. So even though I blew my goals for the challenge at least I didn't go overboard and I equaled it out with excercise.

knitchick, i had the same problem, giving up my coffee, i compensated by having other sweets, so im sure i ended up eating more calories this weekend because of that. at least with my mochas ive made them as 'healthy' as i can. i use lowfat milk (nonfat is forbidden in this house from hubby, lol) and sugar free chocolate syrup, and i put less caffine in it then a regular espresso shot.

did you guys know theres less caffine in a shot of espresso then there is in a regular cup of coffee?- espresso's concentrated so it hits your bloodstream faster, thus the jolt.

Points: 25 (which I didn't think was great, but I just realized we can get 70 points a week, so lots more room for improvement than I'd thought!)
crunches: 20 (started with a bang on Monday and fizzled out - I'll try again this week!)

Don't forget to post your results in the weekend challenge - the thread closes at midnight tonight: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes

For those of you that participated - what did you think? Learn anything unexpected?

I liked the challenge, and learned one thing from each of the items I gave up.
1. I eat too much in front of the TV or computer - I automatically reached for my laptop or the remote each time I sat down to eat.
2. I'm conscious of the soda I consume at home, but order it without thinking when we go out (lost points because of this!)
3. Sometimes giving something up isn't worth it - I gave up chips and instead ended up eating Halloween candy - probably didn't save myself any calories there at all!

Hey team!

Please check-in with current weights and points ASAP. Thanks!

I have noticed that some of you do not track points at all. Even when I have an off day I accumulate some points - for eating breakfast, posting here, drinking 8 cups of water, etc... It is nearly impossible to get zero points. It is, of course, your decision whether or not to participate in any aspect of the challenge, but a minimum effort in my mind consists of checking in AT LEAST once a week with a weigh-in and some points. This is a TEAM challenge. We've got 18 members, but are lacking some team spirit.

1pt for at least 8 glasses of water drank
1pt for staying with calorie range per day
1pt for eating breakfast
1pt for eating at least 5 servings of freggies
1pt for strength exercises
1pt for cardio exercises
1pt for choosing wisely (i.e., more good carbs, fats, protein & less bad ones)
1pt for setting and following a personal goal
1pt for daily posting on your team thread
1pt for support/motivating a fellow team member
