leena, I hear ya. We went out with family yesterday for lunch, and I had in my mind, "we can't go to a mexican restaurant, it's got tortillas".....but didn't think about the hamburger buns at the burger joint *sigh* But I did great on my other two nemesis -- butter and boxed/processed meals. So yay for me on that!

I just wanted to share this with you all......

The following are the rankings for the weight portion of the BLC. These figures are based off of net pounds loss shown in percentage.

1. Magical Magenta = .51%
2. Gold Gladiators = .40%
3. Black Knights = .37%
4. Sapphire Slimmers = .36%
5. Aqua Avengers = .35%
6. Lean Greens = .31%
7. Pink Shrinkers = .29%
8. Blazing Blue = .22%
8. Orange Crushers = .22%
10. Platinum Pacers = .20%
11. Red Hots = .15%
12. White Lightning = .12%
13. Yellow Rays of Hope = .06%
14. Purple Beauties & Hunks = -.40%
15. Silver Comets = no report

We came in second!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go everyone!!!!!! (yeah, I'm excited :) )

And I am in for the 70 points week! I have yet to have a perfect week and I want to go for it!

Hello everyone. Sorry about your shopping trip and McDonalds. I know that fast food is a weakness for me. I have to confess to you all, I am not sure how well I will do at weigh in tomorrow either. I was down two pounds on Friday, but I have not weighed since, because that is one of my goals. But between the crazy week and my meal plan being out of week, stress, and the carnival yesterday I didn't do so well. I have been able to stay off of the scale this weekend and avoid extra salt, but I failed on the white flour. The Halloween carnival yesterday had to much food, and it was all free and unhealthy. There was sno-cones, cotton candy, hot dogs, nachos, and scones. Well I made one good choice by getting a sno cone without the syrup, just ice. I was trying hard to avoid the white flour so I had a few nachos with very little cheese. Then I decided to get a hotdog(not thinking that the bun was made of white flour, duh!) So once it dawned one me as I took the last bite, I decided to give in and allow myself to have a half of a homemade scone with a little honey butter. I figured I have already eaten white flour so why not emoticon Then I had one tiny peice of cotton candy. I know that I could have done much worse, and if it would have been before I got serious about getting healthy it would have.
I am very sorry that I have let the team down on the weekend challenge and on my points for yesterday. I am back on track today and I hope the scale is not too unfriendly.
I would like to join the challenge to get 70 points last week so please count me in. I hope you all are having a great weekend.

Hey Gladiators....
Well as for the weekend challenge by 4 pm today I killed one bird with 2 stones by going through the drive through and buying a one dollar burger and extra large diet coke. emoticon
I went and did some shopping at Ross and Home depot and I did not plan my day very well. I went without eating any lunch and anyone with a low iq decided they need to shop today. So I subcummed to the golden arches. My husband was silently relieved...b/c Since yesterday morning I have been the biggest "B" ever! emoticon
Im sorry but in my mind I think I need one diet coke a day. The caffine withdrawel headache was making me want to hit myself on the head with a hammer and put me out of my misery!
But guess what! Tomorrow is a another day. A NEW day . To start over. Joy (NYGIANTGAL) are challengeing ourselves to get 70 points for the end of next week. Anybody else want to put themsleves up to the challenge? To anybody who gets 70 points at the end of next week..I will give them all a spark goodie.

And for those of you who have done grocery lists...please stop let me know so I can check it out and give you your goodie!

Medusa ~ I was going to call you today but there is something wrong our phone lines. Might have to call you on my cell....if its charged up.LOL

Points for 10/25 - only 5.
I did not do well Friday and Saturday. Why oh why do all social functions have to involve food, and high calorie food at that? I tried to make good choices, but when all the choices available are bad ones, that doesn't help much. So I am not looking forward to the scale, either. And I am really not looking forward to letting the team down. But, I did work in some exercise, and I am getting right back on the good eating wagon today. That's all we can do, eh? Hope you all are doing better.

So I am glad that birthday week is over! I swear, we ate out more this week than we have since June! So between that and good ole TOM issues, I am not holding out a ton of hope for the scale. I have no excuses, I know exactly what I put into my mouth! I did, however, exercise much more than I normally do, so maybe it will even all out. Just warning you all!

I hope you are doing very good so far this weekend. I almost messed up already. My son had practice for the church program that is going to be tomorrow. After practice they gave the kids cupcakes and rootbeer. I almost took one bit of his cupcake(at first I thought I would be doing good by taking one bit and not a whole cupcake)then I realized it has white flour in it, so I did not do it. We are going ot our fall carnival tonight and they are having a cake walk (I hope my son doesn't win) and other food. I am going to try very hard to do well. Have a good day and a productive weekend everyone. emoticon

Point for 10/24 - only 5. Not the best day :(

As far as weighing myself, I do it twice a week. That seems enough for me so far, because I know if I weighed myself every day, I'd get far too obsessed. It's hard, but so far it's working for me.

I go grocery shopping on Sundays, so I plan to blog about what I purchase then. (Knowing I am going to blog about it might help me make some better choices!)

Hope everyone has a great day today. I am going to wait till it stops raining this afternoon, then take my pooch out for a walk. Later! -- Erica

I weigh myself when I get home from work and when I get up to go to work, I'm a lil obssesive about it I know, I guess that will be one of my giveups for the weekend challenge, I'm eating pretty healthy, so I guess the only food thing I can give up is coffee, and I guess bread although I don't eat much of it anymore. I hope everyone is super successful this weekend and beyond of course lol. Have a great day!

I wanted to post my points so far this week. I actually decided to park my pickup and walk and take the bus to my interviews today, so I could save gas and exercise. Plus I did several applications at the mall so I planned where I had to walk the whole mall to get the apps. then back to the food court then back downt he mall to take them back, and out near the food court. So I walked the length of the mall four times. I did four apps. and the walking in 31/2 hours so I am proud of myself. I keep hoping to have time to blog but I haven't yet. Here are my points so far. I have a fun but busy weekend coming up (my church's fall hoedown party, with food, games, exercise, and more food lol) so I want to post now in case my points fall apart over the weekend. LOL. I wish you all the best this weekend. Just remember you and your health are what is important.

I have a bad habit with the scales too. My three goals this weekend are
1. No foods with white flour(tortillas, pasta, bread, pancakes) Only whole wheat.
2. I am not going to cook with or add any salt to food this weekend.
3. I am not going to weigh myself until weigh in day on Monday.

I'm giving up butter (I only allow myself a little bit, I don't like anything un-natural), white bread and flour tortillas, and boxed meals or processed food (my hubby loves Hamburger Helper-esque dinners.

I weigh myself every day, I must admit. I've been trying to cut myself back to only a couple of times a week though!

I deceided to join in the weekend challenge this week;

I chose:

Chocolate
Coffee
Bread

Not sure if the caffenine loss is gonna kill me but I am going to give it a shot, cause I drink way to much and the chocolate and bread won't be much better but then it would not be a challenge right :)

My points for 10/23 were 8. I would have had 9, but I don't think I could come up with any way a Snickers bar would be a good choice!

I'm thinking of taking part in the weekend challege. I'm thinking of giving up caffeine (I doubt I'd last a day), ice cream (those Slim-a-Bears and sugar-free fudgsicles help me make it through the week!) and chocolate (no ice cream or chocolate pudding? Ugh!) That would be a real challenge for me, but I wonder how long I would last?

Funissa, good job on the daily points!!!! emoticon

So yesterday was a great day -- I have to admit, I love being spoiled on my birthday! LOL Doesn't everyone? My lovely hubby got me a gift certificate to Lane Bryant to find a piece of clothing or two in a smaller size, yippee! And the other cool thing is my parents sent me some tops from Lands End (I love love love Land's End) and I now can do their XL!!! Woohoo!!! I have to say though, I cannot wait until I can go to "regular" stores for clothes. I hate clothes-shopping so much I do most of it, if not all of it online. It's just more comfortable that way. But maybe this time won't be so bad, we'll see.

I will be grocery shopping either tonight or tomorrow morning, so I will post it in a blog when I get home :)

Sorry i have been MIA this week but i have been working to get all of my work hours in early in the week and now that i am 'done' for the week i am down for the count with the flu which isn't cool because my next to youngest brother is getting married this weekend! So the weekend challenge will be just that - challenging... but not impossible! i've already decided that my three things to give up this weekend will be alcohol (i don't usually drink but originally planned on 'spending' calories on that this weekend - do you think it would be ok to count this??), chocolate and breads (i think this will be the most difficult to just say no to). AUGH i just realized that we are also celebrating my sister-in-law & husband's anniversary - this is going to be tough but my goal is to earn points for my team (and LOSE, lose, lose)!!

Kim - thank you for the personal challenge! Although this week it doesn't look like i am going to be getting anywhere close to the 70 points, i will be glad to take you up on 70 points for the next weigh in!!

Thanks for the replys on how much ya'll spend on groceries. I am in about the right price range along with ya'll. Mine was $67.80 for food out of a $140.00 receipt. I need to start using coupons like Medusa. I know if you go to alot of the foods websites they have them for you to download. Hmmm I have a pop "mini" challenge for you Gladiators. I am interested to know what foods each of you buy. So for each of you , who post a blog listing all the food they bought on their last grocery trip ( No lying and leaving stuff out) and then let me know they did it, I will go read their list and leave them a spark goodies of a green reusable bag for the "next shopping trip". I promise I will make a blog also.

Sherry ~ I have already made you an icon w/ your name. However , you must go to myspark page album and find it and save it to your computer. Do you know how to do this? Let me know.

Erica ~ I will make yours tonight!

Medusa ~ Thanks for the numbers and letting everyone know about the weekend challenge. We might be getting some kind of exercise machine but not sure which. That bike is pretty big huh?

Leena ~ walking one and a half miles in 27 minutes is really good. I can walk 1 mile in 20 minutes...but of course I am on the verge of seeing my maker when I do. LOL. Keep your chin up sweetie. Things will get better. Also I am not quite sure about how the weekend challenge points go. It is a question that needs to be asked though. I will find out for you.

Yesi ~
DAILY/ WEEKLY POINTS ~ Is something you keep count of that will go towards in helping the team win the BLC at the end.

IN TEAM HOME CHALLENGES ~ These our just for our GOLD GLADIATORS. Other teams are NOT participating. We have a new one that we do every Monday.

WEEKEND CHALLENGE ~ ALL the teams in the BLC are against each other.

And then you have your very own personal goals that you made when you join Sparks. ( These are not counted for the BLC)

All of these things are optional to do. But the more you do the greater your weightloss/inches will be.
All of it is teaching you to have better eating and exercise habits and being accountable.

I personaly have not worked myself up to doing everything. But when I was doing about 80 to 90 % of it ( During the last BLC) I lost 22 lbs in 2 months.
My goal is to get back into that mindset again. And when I come on here and see what everyone has written and the encourgement everyone gives to one another....it gives me that little push I need when I feel that I have no strength at all.

BATTLE ON GOLD GLADIATORS !!!!!!!!

I understand that we get one point for each hour that we go without something for the weekend challenge. Does that mean we can count points for up to 3 things, so if I go 24 hours without all 3 I would earn 72 points?

First of all I didn't post yesterday cause it was another crazy day and I needed some alone time once we finally got settled in for the evening. I SOOOO agree with you about Vicky, I want her out of there. I was so mad at her smug attitude and I don't care attitude over the challenge and also over weigh in. Whew I feel so much better now that I have that off of my chest.
My week is still crazy, and I am not making the best choices but I am still trying to stick with it through the stress and craziness. I only got 3 points today but I got 7 today. I did ALOT of fast walking today, because I ran out of gas, then realized I had left my wallet at home, and I had a deadline to get somewhere so I walked about a mile and a half in 27 minutes which is fast for me. I will post my points for hte week so far tomorrow. I am also going to try to post on my blog about my crazy week as soon as I can breathe.
Way to go to everyone for how well the team did lastweek, and vgl with this weekend challenge.

For everyone's info.....here's the new weekend challenge!!!!!
_____________________________________

This weekend the Lean Greens are challenging everyone to give up something that’s not so healthy you think you can’t live without for 48 hours.

For example if you are a sugar-aholic like I am- go without sugar for 48 hours. That means no candy, cakes, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, alcohol, and I am even going for no honey or other sweeteners.

You may be addicted to bread or grains- so go without for 48 hours.

Do you watch too much TV?- go without for 48 hours.

Other suggestions- salt, meat, processed foods, caffeine, driving instead of walking or biking, smoking, dairy, gluten, HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup)

Try to pick something that is going to be a real challenge for you- this just may be the start of breaking some unhealthy habits.

You can pick up to 3 things to give up. It starts midnight on Friday and end midnight on Sunday- for a total of 48 hours. Each consecutive hour you give it up is worth 1 point. So if I give up sugar for 36 hours straight- that's 36 points.

Please remember to post what team you are on if you want your points to count.

Posts need to be in by midnight on Monday- thanks!

I'm going to call this post "Answering Questions from Kim"! :)

So you knit???
Yes ma'am, I do. My grandmother taught me when I was little, but I got back into it in the last couple of years, especially when I worked in a cross-stitch/knitting store -- which are both my hobbies! LOL It's a wonder I managed to get full paycheques! ha!

Hmmmm..how much would a cool long scarf set me back?
A million dollars!! hehehe emoticon Remind me the next time we chitterchat on the phone and we'll figure something out.

Also I keep meaning to ask you...what type of exercise bike do you have?
I have one of those recumbent bicycles, which is much easier on my knee than those regular stationary bikes. Technically it's called Pro-Form CrossTrainer 970, if that means anything. It tracks all sorts of stuff, and it has 10 different little routines (like riding up and down hills, etc) It works for me :)

Oh, and we spend about $50 to $70 every week on groceries. I'm a big fan of sales and coupons!

Hi Sherry, nice to meet you! emoticon

Kim - I've kinda started the interval thing recently. I always get my television time in when I walk. I usually walk about 2.4 mph right now, but when the commercials come on, I kick it up to 3.0. Then when the show starts up, I bring it back now. I think I'll try to add the incline.

I am spending about $50 extra a week for groceries than I use too. Of course since I'm new to SP and just changed my lifestyle, I'm actually cooking and preparing food, versus picking up dinner on my way home.

Missy ~ Way to go on those 10 points !!! Even though this is my second BLC , And I am a captain....I will honestly admit that I have a hard time getting in 10 each day. emoticon While this week is sadly shot for getting 70 points...I am challenging myself next week to do that.

Whitney ~ I agree with Erica about "Doing SOMETHING is better than NOTHING" ! But I also believe if you were to walk 2 miles at a "stroll" and powerwalked only one mile....the later is going to give you more of a benefit in all areas. Does your tread mill have an incline?? I also am hearing about "High Intensity Interval Training " This is where you work very hard for a certain amount of time and then lower your intensity for a bit and then go back to working hard. EX. Walking ( not strollong ) to a lamp post, then running as hard as you can to the next one.)

Erica ~ Getting those 8 glasses of water are hard for many people. Do you drink other beverages during the day? Do you drink bottled water or out of a water bottle? I have a water bottle that holds 5 cups. I fill it all the way with ice, then water, and a slice of lemon. Some"tricks" I use to drink more water: I eat med. hot salsa with wasa crackers for lUnch or snack. The other one is before I click on something new on the web...I have to take a big ol gulp. ( Which means after I post this I will be gulping...haha)
Any one else have any tricks???

Also how much do you all spend on groceries each week? ( I am talking about food not things like detergent or air freshener) Last night I spent 140 dollars. Today I am going to go over my receipt and see just exactly how much was spent on things to eat.

Another thing...for those of you who want their names on their icon.....please send me a shot out so I can do one for you . I dont mind at all.

Last but not least....It is my WONDERFUL, AWESOME, HARDWORKING co ~captains Birthday today!!!!!!
Happy 30something my dear, dear friend !!!!!!!!

I am by no means an expert on any of this (still pretty new,) but my fitness "coach" at the hospital program I am taking part in tells me that the most important thing to shoot for is being in my target heart range for as long as I can. When I started, I could do maybe 8 minutes on the treadmill in my range. Now, I am up to a half-hour -- then I hit the bike for another 20 minutes or so.
The other thing my coach always says is "Doing something is better than doing nothing." Meaning getting off my duff and going for a walk for any amount of time is better than couch potatoing.

Hope that helps, and keep it up! We can do this!!

Missy ~ I think it is more than a good idea for you to post your daily points in the thread every day. Especially for people who arnt good at keeping track of them through out the week. On the last BLC many members did it this way. As for the "saying"...Yesterday I saw all my old Curves records from about 4 years ago, and it was an eye opener to what I have now become. When we stop, it all comes back with a vengence.

Al~ A half of pound is still wonderful! And remember about measurements! As for Vickys husband....I think he sabatoged himself so he wouldnt loose much so they would have to be the team to vote someone off. Because they wanted to vote Amy off. And they did it NOT because she was a bad player...but because they were trying to hurt Phil. As for Sick Vick...I still dont understand how she is putting out such huge numbers. Lord knows she doesnt work as hard as the others. I think her fat is scared of her and is just jumping off.

Joy ~ I know you can get 70 points. If not this week perhaps next week? I will join you on that!! Is that a deal?

Cheryl ~ I would give my husbands right arm for a thunderstorm here in southern Cali!!!! So you knit???
Hmmmm..how much would a cool long scarf set me back?
Also I keep meaning to ask you...what type of exercise bike do you have?

** I just want you all to know.....Despite my verbal beating downs of Vicky Of BL show...I really am a nice , get along with everybody kind of gal. I just am a mean, hateful person TOWARDS OTHER mean hateful people.

*sigh* Tons of thunderstorms today, so the dog was squirrely and pacing all through the house all day, the power was flickering, and it was dark dark and gloomy. So it felt kinda blah. But I did get another hat made today. This year's Christmas present theme is hats -- I have knitted 9 so far and have one to go. Yeah, I'm nuts! hehe But I got my exercise in too, so I'm not a total couch potato! :D

Kim, I am with you -- this is the first Biggest Loser season that I actively dislike someone, and I don't like it :(

Post away..that is what this forum is for. We all understand emotional eating and I am proud of you that you made the choice not to let her get to you. You are the only one that can give away your power and you did good :o)

Hi all,

Welcome to all of the new members :o)

My dismal report is as follows
sw: 255
last weeks weight: 235.5
cw: 233

a whole half a pound...I had higher hopes for this challenge but I think the stress has gotten to me...I am not giving up though. I didn't keep track of points last week. I was in Chicago for a conference (and I had a great time, I will tell more about that experience later) and I came home sick. The cardiologist told me to strive for a pound a month...not even a pound a week but a pound a month! I guess I am right on track for that. I am not dropping the numbers I had wanted but I am going to keep going..I do see changes in my choices so I will get there.

Hope everyone has a great week...I am going back to bed

Oh and I copy the sentiment about Vicky...."this prize is lame so I am not going to try" and "I don't care how much I lose I know I am not going home"....her husband seems so nice...I don't get it!!
