Chloe - I am hoping he will as well. I know he won't go for the pool but hopefully he will start getting into the gym soon. The walks are a lot of fun.

Hello, my fellow Shrinking Pinksters!

I just went and posted my water for the weekend. I'm like Erin, I usually wait until the end of the weekend to post, since I don't know for sure how much water I'm going to have. If fact, I'll probably have even more than I put for today (124oz), but that's fine, because I don't believe we get bonus points so it doesn't matter if I go over.

Erin, I hate when it gets dark early! It annoys the crap out of me! Granted, I'm off work by 4:30, but if my friend and I walk home, we don't leave until 5:00, so we're walking in the dark. Luckily through fairly busy neighborhoods, but we do wind up passing by some street folks along the way.

Lisa, I'm so glad you got that walk in with your kids! I do hope that one day DH will go with you. And good job on the swimming, too!

Alison, way to go on the reggae dancing! I just love dancing. Yeah, that was kind of cheating for me, because I have dance class on Saturdays, so my exercise challenge was already built in. However, I really do love shaking my booty, so I will put that out as a challenge again in the future. (Other than a Saturday.)

Sorry, gents, this is probably something you don't want to know, so you can skip this paragraph if you want. So, ladies on Shark Week, you know how when you live with other women, you often start at the same time? Well, that's happening to us! I'll be starting this week, too! How funny is that?

I'll start the new thread later tonight, so we can all get in any last minutes stuff for this week.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Hi Everyone!

I hope you've all had a great weekend!

Alison, I wouldn't worry too much about the challenge just yet. I know I normally wait until Monday to post for the whole weekend. I think alot of us do that. I saw your post and you did great on Saturday! Good for you! I remember you saying you wanted to work on getting it in. emoticon

Lisa, it's so emoticon that you got in so much activity this weekend! I know for me I always feel better the more I move. I love to swim and can relate to how draining it can be, but I think it is in a good way. I always sleep so great after a good swim. It fatigues you in the best way. I haven't been in forever, but used to belong to the aquatic center. I'm thinking about joining again.

Take care,

Erin

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I got out for a city walk this morning with the kids that was a load of fun. I would have loved for hubby to go with us but alas he called in sick for work and 2.2 miles is a bit much for him to handle with his weight and knees. Maybe one day he will go. The best part of the morning was when we stopped in at a bar/grill for a drink to split between the three of us, the bartender took payment for one and gave me two glasses. I guess the manager was not in yet or maybe he was the manager, either way I was a very gratefull mom, sat there with the kids and watched some of the football game with my son. Although I have not clue one about football, I am so clueless I thought for years and years that they yellow line we see on t.v. was actually there on the football field. It is the one that we all see near the line of scrimmage, I asked my ex why there weren't any guys moving the yellow line and the look I got in return was about enough to kill me. I did not ask again till about a year ago when I asked my current hubby he laughed at me and told me it was something that was only on the t.v. for us special people at home. For those of you wondering, yes I am truely blonde and I laugh at myself ALL the time. I figure if everyone else is gonna laugh at me, I may as well joing them.

Okay all have a good one!!!! Do something good for yourself today.

Lisa

Happy Saturday everyone!!!!

Erin don't feel bad I am on the verge of shark week myself. But I did get to the gym this morning as my daughter wanted to use the pool at the gym. We had never used it before and I had also forgotten how draining swimming can be as it has been about 20 years since I swam like I did this morning. It is a wonderful full body work out cario and muscle wise. Tomorrow we are looking at doing a "city walk" it is something that the city of sacramento started about 2 or 3 years ago to get people out walking and in better shape. There are like 9 different ones that can be done, I let my 14 y/o son pick the walk for the morning and wouldn't you know, he picked one of the longest ones on there at 2.2 miles. I think the longest one is like just over 3 miles long. The last one we went one we had encountered a homeless man that my son had to so graciously ask "Mom, what the hell is that man's problem." My kids have not encountered homeless people like this one. He is one that as he is walking down the street yelling at his imaginary friend, lol. It was a moment to laugh at cause he normally does not talk like that and is usually a bit more sensitive to others. We also had to laugh when a lady asked to how to get to the zoo. We were in mid town and the zoo is on the south side of town, it would be a good 10 mile walk one way and her kid did not look enthused at the thought of walking that far to look at a couple of animals. Hopefully tomorrow we won't have encounters like that one. We will be going through Old Sac. that is always a fun place to walk through.

Good evening everyone just wanted to check in before going out. Just saw the exercise challenge now and how convenient as I am going out to a reggae club to dance the evening away so will get well more than 30 min.

When ever I go to the reggae club I always find it a great workout on the upper legs and the abs, so it's like strength training and cardio all rolled into one.

Finished the water challenge for the day and got all the water in. Was a little disappointed though to only see 2 pink shrinkers posted to the challenge so far. Hopefully more will post tomorrow and this week challenge we can kick some butt!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a good week and we will give the other teams a run for their money for the week 2 weigh in. emoticon

Talk to everyone later.

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all having a great weekend!

It's been raining here the last couple of days and starting to get cold at night. It finally stopped late this morning. Thank goodness it's not dreary anymore! I can't believe it's almost October. I don't look forward to it getting dark at 5. Every year seems to go faster and faster!

I didn't see the dancing challenge early enough, but I starting dogsitting today so I did got in alot of play with the pooches.

I don't think my weigh in is going to be too great since it looks like I'm on the verge of Shark Week, but that's the way it goes.

I hope you're all getting your water in!

Take care,

Erin

Happy Saturday morning, Pink Shrinkers!

Today's exercise challenge...

30 minutes of dancing, any kind of dancing you want, but not to the radio - too many commercial breaks. So get out your fave CD, tape or records, folks, and get to shakin' that bootay!!!

I will send via SparkMail as well.

Good Friday evening, Pink Shrinkers!

To start, Niki, yes you can add flavor packets. I totally believe that counts as water, and in past water challenges when someone has asked, that's been totally fine. I think they even let iced tea in, because that's essentially water, too. But I'm not sure about that. But I don't believe adding flavor packets is a bad thing.

Erin, no jumping this weekend, I promise! But I can't promise no jumping jacks or jumping rope at some time this challenge. I know, I know! I'm sorry! But they are so good for the body! And I'm very proud of you for getting in today's exercise! WOOHOO!!!

Alison, I know what you mean about last weekend's challenge. I think they could've made it easier by just saying: Do the exercise listed and post your own exercise. That's the basics, all the points gathering is up to the leaders, we don't need to know how they figure it out! :-) I'm happy for the water challenge too.

I spent a few hours at Union Square today, enjoying various festivities celebrating the home-coming (in January) of the musical Wicked. The songs sung were Popular (LOVE IT!), The Wizard and I and For Good (the duet between Elphaba, the young Wicked Witch of the West, and Galinda, the young, later named Glinda, the Good Witch of the North). The singing was truly amazing, and I can hardly wait to go see the musical when it comes back early next year! (It's supposedly an open-ended run, but we'll see.)

Okay, will post Saturday's exercise soon.

Hi Everyone!

Where is everybody today?

I hope you're all doing well!

Niki, I'm sorry that I can't help with the emoticon question. I don't drink flavored water, so I guess I never really thought about it. I can see how some may have an issue with artificial sweeteners. You did remind me that I used to love crystal light. I haven't had it in so many years and it feels like a blast from the past for me!

I could just eat those babies up! They are just too adorable! emoticon Owen too, and so handy! Nothing like having a 4 legged friend around!

Dana, don't worry about the points. I know life can get crazy sometimes. I'll be sending out a weekly reminder when you'll need to get them in by. I know you're doing the best you can!

emoticon for the motivation! I've copied it and plan to print it out and put it up at work. It totally hit home for me too!

When it comes to turkey bacon, although I had some today, I think it's time for me to look for the real stuff in a low cal option. I think Oscar Meyer has a center cut one that would fit into my calorie range. It would actually be like a treat since I love bacon, but who doesn't?

I don't bother with ground turkey. I've always been a beef girl and when you can find lean cuts and 93% lean ground beef I don't see the point. It's totally worth it for me and although I never checked in the store, it's the same in fat and calories according to Spark. I just looked it up since I was curious. I do like turkey dogs though.

Chloe, thanks for the emoticon ! Too funny!

Dang! You remembered the dreaded daily exercise challenge! It's good though, since it is something I know I don't get enough of! You'll be happy to know that I did it today and feel better for it! emoticon Please don't make me jump! emoticon The girls might give me black eyes! emoticon

I love this weekend's challenge! I can drinks me some water! Nothing like a challenge with no real effort!

Can't believe it's the end of the 2nd week!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Remember to drink your emoticon !

Take care,

Erin emoticon emoticon emoticon

Wow.. am I really the first one to post this morning?

Well.. good morning everyone! Happy Friday!

I have a question about this weekends challenge and I kinda also want to know everyone's opinion on this:

Does water with a flavor packet added count as water?

I know some people are very anti-flavoring because of the artificial sweetners in them and I know some people can't get their water in any other way. Some people say it's not as good as plain water. Others say it doesn't make a difference.

I drink both plain and with flavor added. I really like the iced tea crystal light.

What do you guys think?

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

~Niki

Woohoo! A challenge I can actually do really well in! (I drink a LOT more water on the weekend than during the week.) Thank you, Laura!

Okay, the exercise challenge for Friday, September 26th...

~2 sets of 12-15 sit ups/crunches, with exercise ball if you have it
~2 sets of 12-15 bicep curls, with or without weights (your comfort level)
~2 sets of 12-15 calf raises, on a stair or other object (such as a book) that allows you to get a full strength

If you have trouble getting your strength training in for the day, because you can't figure out what you want to do, this will hopefully help you out.

I'll send an email from the Pink Shrinkers group as well.

Dana, sorry, meant to reply earlier. My roommate is doing great! He is leaving the toilet seat down, so that's awesome. And he's even washing his own dishes, and occasionally mine, too! WOOHOO!

So far so good. The occasional thing annoys me, but not enough to get really upset about. Whew!!!

Have a great Friday, everyone!

Hey Shrinkers! I'm off work for a couple of days hence the delay in logging on. I did notice the weekend challenge thread has been posted, it is for Saturday and Sunday, here are the rules and link to the thread, let's drink that water!

www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_mes
sa
geboard_thread.asp?board=929x11524x1R>8798867

It's water! There are different rules than the last time we did a water challenge. Here they are:

Water challenge. Ideally you should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water, everyday. For example: A 248 pound person should drink 124 ounces of water per day.
Rules: You need to list your team and current weight (from the last weigh in) and then how many ounces of water you drank, for Saturday and Sunday. If you drink 1/2 of your body weight you get 10 points. If you drink 1/4 to 1/2 of your body weight you get 5 points, anything less than 1/4 of their weight is worth 0 points.

If you do not list your current weight your drinking doesn't get any points for your team as I will not track down your leaders or you for that information. Please make sure you list your CW and AD (amount drank)!

Have fun drinking!

Hey, Pinkies!

Darn! I didn't get this out as early as I wanted to, but here's the exercise challenge for those of you who are still awake...

30 minutes of marching in place

I'm making it easy for the first time, especially since I'm posting it so late. Sorry!!!

Off to post the challenge for tomorrow, and will SparkMail it too.

Hey Pinkies,

sorry I've been MIA this week, didn't mean to be. I've just been so busy with doing the Towns Visitor Guide, helping with the Junior Class BBQ that's this next Friday, getting Silent Auction items for our Pachanga dinner for the Art & Education Alliance that's in two weeks and running the Motel. so yeah, I've been just a little bit busy. And I hate that I've been so busy that I haven't taken the time to check in. BAD ME!!!

So I want to take the time to respond to everyone!

Lisa (MRYKYLDY2),
Yes my little girl is driving. However, we live in a really small town and I don't worry to much about her drive out of town, the closest town is 65 miles away. she just drives to and from school and to her practices. When we went to El Paso I tried to get her to drive on the highway and she didn't want to, she said it scared her to much. I'm glad she knows her own limitations.

Chloe,
Yeah I'm glad I took Alexa to see the baby being born. And she got to spend the first 4 days with the new mom and to see first hand what it takes to have a baby newborn baby. she keeps telling me that she NOT having kids, and I tell her that at some point she better give me grand kids. And then we both laugh and she says she'll think about it, but that she's not giving me them know. THANK GOODNESS!!!!

Oh, and how ids that roommate of yours doing? Is he keeping the toilet set down?

Rick,
That's great about the BLC at work and to be able to maybe win some money. That sounds like so much fun. And don't worry about posting all the time we all have times that we can't do it everyday, even if you post once a week and let us know how your doing that's all that matters. As long as we know that your doing okay, and that you know that we are all here when you need us that's what's important. And keep up the good work, -3 that's GREAT!

Alison, great job on the -3lbs. Keep up the good work.

RYO, I know what you mean about the marks on the scale, sometimes I have to bend way over to read them or ask my hubby to read them for me. Have fun this weekend on your trip and remember to not eat that whole funnlecake. I know that's hard to do I LOVE them too!

Lynn,
WOW, you look so good, I just love the picture. You look so thin in your face. You are really doing a great job, keep up all the work you of been doing it is really showing. And I'm glad to hear that your home and safe!

Erin,
I posted my points, sorry about not getting them in sooner. I'll try hard to keep up the post. And I LOVE Turkroni, it's so much easier on the tummy and our health. I haven't been able to find a turkey bacon that I like yet. I just get the low sodium Hormel black label bacon. I also found a turkey hot dog that I like. and yeah I haven't been able to find a turkey burger that is as good as the real the thing. However, I go to my meat market and they are good at giving me the leans cuts of beef and grind it up for me. It ends up being so lean that when I cook with it I have to put a little bit of Olive Oil in the pan so it doesn't stick, and there is no grease at all that has to be drained off.

Lisa-Ann, Great job on the -2lbs, keep up the good work!

Niki, The twins are so cute. Are you and your partner going to have any more little ones in your family? You seem like great parents. Keep up the great work on the weight lose.

Tia,
I'm glad your feeling better. I know it's no fun being sick and trying to stay healthy. And it's so great that you can get your DH to go to the gym with you. I have a gym here at the motel and I can't get my hubby to go in there anymore. His been in a 2-3mth slump!

And yes I agree with you and Chloe, I to have to record the show and watch it the next day. We should all make a pack to not talk about what happened that night until Thursday, so that those whom record the show can watch it first. WHAT DO YOU ALL SAY? PLEASE!!!! Or at least do what Erin does and give us********************WARNINGS************

I found this little piece of Motivation and wanted to share it with all of you!

HAPPINESS IS A BY PRODUCT OF ACTIVITY

Happiness lies in the joy of achievement,
the thrill of creative effort.
The human spirit needs to accomplish,
to achieve, to triumph to be happy.

Happiness does not come from doing easy work.
It comes from the afterglow of satisfaction after
the achievement of a difficult task that demands
your best.

Your personal growth itself contains the seed of happiness.
You cannot pursue happiness by itself.

There is no happiness except in the realization that you
have accomplished something.

Happiness thrives in activity.
It's a running river, not a stagnant pond.

This really hit home for me. And I hope that some of you can share in the motivation that it brings to me. We are all worth something and none of us should let ANYTHING stand in the way of become more than what we are possible of becoming. So jump in that river and ride the current, don't just stand in the pond and be still.

Hope everyone is having a great week and if I forgot any one, please know that I am thinking of our team and know that together we WILL do this and we WILL WIN!

Hopefully everyone has seen Biggest Loser from the other night.

I am a big big big fan of both trainers. It is hard for me to pick a favorite. Like all reality shows the editors play on the story line that is created for each person and only show that one side. I love Jillian cause she is tough, there are those that really do need a trainer like that. On the other hand there are those that need one like Bob. If I had to chose I would probably chose Jillian. There are plenty of explatatives that I would be calling her in the process but it would be well worth it in the end. This last weeks show showed her getting after the yellow team, I think she had good reason to. I understand why they took the challenge but I would not have risked that much money on weight loss. It is not typical for a person to lose that much weight on the second week of the show. I would love to have a loss like they do in one week but then again they have stopped their lives and are spending, literally, hours upon hours in the gym to even get the little 2 pounds.

That's my 2 cents on the issue. I hope everyone is having a wonderful wensday. Off to fix my lunch.
Lisa

Hi Pink Shrinkers!

I hope you're all doing well!

As you may already know, Chloe has asked me to take over tracking points.

Since I've just started today then anyone who needs to update for Week 1 please do it by tomorrow morning so that I can get the totals to Chloe by tomorrow afternoon. If you need extra time or have questions then please let me know. Here's the link to the Week 1 thread.

Chloe, also made a good point that while editing makes it easier to tally, and I really don't want to change that, that when new posts aren't created that we don't get that daily reminder about points from the "Reply to SparkPeople message board" in your email boxes. To avoid that from happening I will be posting my points daily with a new post and then you will receive that email reminder.

Believe me, I know that updating daily is not always possilbe and that's totally fine!

I just want to be sure that you get all the credit you deserve!

We have a great team and I know you're all doing your best! We are all so busy and I want to do everything I can to make it easier for you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I've sent an email also.

Thank you very much!

Erin

Hi, Pink Shrinking People!

Two things...

First, a little something to make you laugh...

True Friendship

1. When you are sad -- I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you're scared -- we will high tail it out of here.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big baby!!!!

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick --Stay away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I'll pick you up and dust you off-- After I laugh my butt off!!

9. This is my oath...I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask -- because you are my FRIEND!

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

And two, I realize I have neglected to start posting the daily exercise challenge. I'm so sorry! I'm sure some of you are relieved, and are now groaning that I have noticed my own neglect, just as I'm sure some of you have been patiently waiting and not wanting to say anything for fear of retribution from other team members who were hoping I'd never remember :-)!

And I thought I'd start on Monday, what with it being the beginning of the week and all, then I said to myself, "Why put off until later what you can do today?" That's what got me here in the first place, right? All of the procrastination. So, I am posting a challenge for today. I realize it's late, and a lot of folks exercise in the morning, so if you don't do today's, that's fine. I will post from now on, though, so you'll have plent of opportunity to scream my name in agony as you plow through another set of sit ups, or another 30 minutes of walking backward.

Keep an eye out, I'll be posting in about 15 minutes.

Ryo, enjoy your weekend! It sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun! I'm sorry you're missing out on your concert, though. Next year, you buy those tickets, even if it means going alone. After all, just because you go alone doesn't mean you'll spend the day alone, right? You may make a whole new set of friends!

Oh, and Niki, defending something or someone you believe in shouldn't require an apology. Good for you for standing up for something you believe in! I'm sure no one is upset, and would happily step in to defend their own faves. After all, how boring would we be if we all thought the same?

Love you all!
Chloe

Hi Everyone..

Just a quick check in today. Hopefully I can find some time to come back on later, but in the mean time..

Erin - congrats and thank you for taking over for Lisa.

I hope I didn't offend anyone when I defended Jillian. I can be a little fan crazy sometimes. lol.

However I can say with non fan bias, her DVD's are the best! Her workouts kick your behind literally. Anyway.. enough about that.

Chloe.. you're right. We gotta do better at the weekend challenge. Last place! oy..

I'm riding a lot this weekend, but I'll be online as much as I can. I'll need to so that I can stay focused. We are having dinner with a friend tonight and a wine tasting party on Friday.

Well.. that's it for now..

Have a fantastic day!

Morning everyone! Just a few more hours and I am off for a long weekend. I am going with a friend to Six Flags and the state fair this weekend. My hopes are to stay away from junk food (I may have to have a taste of the evil funnell cake;) and ride lots of roller coasters! I think I have about 15 listed that I want to ride! haha.

this weekend is a huge weekend in Austin. ACL music festival is in town and I am a little bummed that I am not going. I got sort of frustrated b/c most of my friends don't want to spend the money for a ticket in april or whenever they go on sale and then I end up spending 3 days in the hot sun by myself. It's fun, but it would be better with pals around, you know. The one group I usually spend time with wasn't coming and then all the bands I really want to see play opposite each other. So I made a decision and didn't get tickets. I'm going into withdrawl now. So many good bands! And really, when you work out the price per band, it's pretty cheap! Plus the weather just happens to be AMAZING! so there would be the heat factor we usually have (100+ weather).

So on top of that, due to the hurricane the UT game with Arkansas was rescheduled for this weekend. The UT games are always huge. Rumor has it that the arkansas team is staying in a hotel southeast of Austin in a smaller town called Bastrop (maybe 40 miles?) b/c there are no available hotels in the city due to ACL! So yeah, Austin is going to be a busy little capital city this weekend! Luckily, I'll be in Dallas!

Wooh, that was a long one. Well, guys, I will try to check in this weekend as I'm taking my laptop with me. And I will think about you guys and the challenge when making decisions about food! At the very least I'll get plenty of exercise walking around the park and fair grounds all day!

Have a great day and drink lots of water!

Hi, Pink Shrinkers!

Okay, have to give you some not so happy news, and some really happy news.

First, the unhappy news. Our co-captain Lisa (~*~*LISA*~*~) is not going to be able to continue this challenge for personal reasons. She hopes to be back by the next challenge, but I know our thoughts are with her at this time. If you get a chance, stop by her page and just send her some Pink Shrinker love.

Now, on to the FAB news! I have asked Erin (ERIN315) to step in and take over Lisa's position as co-captain and as our new point counter, to which she has, thankfully, said yes. Normally I would've asked Laura (AUSTINOUTLAW) to step up and have Erin take over Laura's job advising us of the weekend challenge, but Laura, I know you are in the process of moving, and I didn't want to pile this on you right now. I know you've got a lot on your mind and didn't want to add to that. I hope that's okay with you.

Welcome, Erin! I know everyone will be as happy as I to have you as a co-captain!

(When Lisa returns, we may do some shifting around, or may stick with 4 captains. We'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it.)

Now, on to other stuff.

My weigh in...

LW - 230
CW - 228
PL - 2

And my measurements...

Neck - 14.75
Left Bicep - 14
Right Bicep - 14.75
Chest - 39.5
Waist - 44
Hips - 54
Left Thigh - 30
Right Thigh - 30.5
Left Calf - 18.5
Right Calf - 18.25

I'm so uneven! :-)!

I'm sorry, I haven't been able to respond all day to anyone about anything, it's been crazy! I do want to say congrats to everyone for making it through to the first week! Woohoo!

Oh, Erin, Kristin is not coming back. She's a part of another team now, the Done Being the Fat Girl team (which I'm also part of, but not part of a challenge, which I think she might be) and I believe she's decided to stick to the one for now. Which I think is smart. One challenge at a time so we don't become overwhelmed.

Thank you everyone for posting measurements (I haven't actually put it into a spread sheet yet, so I'm not sure I have them all, but will be sending you a SparkMail if I need yours!), your weigh ins, and most of all, for visiting on a regular basis! I think that's what makes our team so FANTASTIC! The fact that we all check in regularly, and support each other so much!

Oh, but we're going to definitely have to take part in the weekend challenge from now on. I admit I did not, so I'm speaking to myself, too. I definitely need to get on that.

Tia, I'm glad you are starting to feel better. I makes all the difference in your energy level and ability to exercise. And I'm glad you and DH are starting your gym membership early! Woohoo!

Okay, I will try to keep up tomorrow and reply to every posting. I have read everything, I'm just tired, and I still have to go through and input all the info into the excel spreadsheet and post on the Team Results page. (Not complaining, just explaining!)

Have a fabulous Thursday, everyone!

Love,
Chloe

Hi Everyone!

I hope your day is going well!

Lisa-Ann, it's the chilly nether regions that concern me the most emoticon ! I might consider it if we actually had enough people to make new friends with, but alas, it's just me and my boss and since we're friends we've had occassion to actually already see each other in various stages of dress and undress. You know how us girls do with our friends sometimes! Shopping, swimming, and emoticon Just kidding about that one! I'm sweet and innocent emoticon !

Tia, I'm glad you're feeling better! Good to hear that you and you DH are hitting the gym together soon! You're fortunate to have a partner to do it with! I also know about the willpower girl! Or lack thereof. You got a tip for such a problem? It just seems like having stuff around like that is something I may always struggle with. It's that salty sweet thing. I love both and can't really stop myself. That's why I usually don't do it, but every so often test myself. I'm glad your DH got a good emoticon from the Shark Week phrase!

Chloe, that reminds me, is Kristin on our team this go around? I know she took off the mini, but I thought she'd be back for the challenge.

Niki, you're right about Jillian. She even said as much in the first show, which kinda disappointed me. It's too bad that she doesn't seem to think that she can be both. We all have different sides to our personalities and I don't think seeing her softer side some made her any less of a hard ass in the gym.

The editing can suck, because it's obvious it's done for effect since Bob and Jillian talked so much about how Week 2 is notoriously difficult and they talked about why and it makes total sense. A few pounds a week in the real world is awesome!

Ryokineko, I agree about excuses when it comes to working out. I know I'd be further along if I did it on a regular basis. I know I can make time. I keep telling myself that it's alright to do something for me and take care of myseld. During this challenge I'm really going to work on that!

Take care,

Erin

I totally agree about not being happy with the orange team. I was shocked when it seemed like it would go the other way and it really should have. I think that would've been the outcome anyway since the ones who went seemed a bigger threat, and it seemed obvious it would be them leaving, so I don't understand why orange voted that way and didn't keep their word!

It's also kind of always really bothered me that while I understand that once you have enough votes that you really don't need to see the rest of them that then it's hard to know where alliances may lie. I know that sometimes you see the talk before the vote and may think you know, but you can be surprised, like last night where Ed seemed adamant about which way they were voting and then it went the other way!

I agree about editing for sure and the way they seat the voters, since they didn't have to put the orange team first in Bob's teams to vote, but it was obviously more dramatic that way! Yellow got really lucky about who they were put under the line with and that team being a huge threat as far as how much they needed to lose and could drop big numbers. It's gonna start getting really good!

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well.

Niki-yes, editing can do wonders! I am a huge fan of the show Top Chef and we are always talking about the magical editing elves! She seems like an awesome trainer though! And she looks amazing, that is for sure. I have seen some of her workouts on netflix and considered trying a few. She seems tough alright. I am contemplating getting a trainer but seeing her kinda scares me! I really don't want anyone to yell at me! haha.last week I saw her really yelling at one of the girls. However, when the girl posted a huge weight loss you could tell they had a connection and there were no hurt feelings. And I can see where a lot of people would need some real "tough love" b/c there are a LOT of excuses people make. me too! my current one is, work is just too hectic to make a regular gym commitment. yeah, right. I know that in order to be successful I need to schedule my fittness routine into my life like any other important "to do" task, but I let myself slide with the excuse that work is more important and that I just can't make a regular schedule! shame on me.

On another note, a friend of mine ALMOST got me a kettlebell for my birthday but he decided on books instead. I was very happy about the books but did really want a kettlebell. Guess I will just have to buy my own! I'm a little afraid of it though. it looks pretty intense. I'm worried about hurting myself.

Geez, I sure am scared of stuff today! haha. (more excuses ;) But seriously, I really want to get into more strength training and it seems to be an awesome workout.

First thing I would like to do is to thank everyone for the well wishes while I've been sick! You are all great! I'm finally starting to feel better today and can breathe a little better. I've been taking Tylenol Cough at night and it's been letting me sleep.
DH wants to start the gym membership ASAP also, which is cool because I thought he was going to want to wait until the beginning of the year and I wanted to start earlier.
Now to follow up with people, boy do I have a lot of catching up to do!

Ampetit- Congrats on the engagement! I wish I had found spark before I got married. As hard as I tried to lose the weight while stressing over my wedding, I gained 20 pounds instead over 8 months. emoticon Here's to a happy healthy wedding!

Sarah, one pound is one pound. Good job on the loss!

Dana, congrats on the god baby! Being away from home is always the hardest. You've taken it off before and will be able to again.

Michelle, WOO HOO on the 10K!!!! I can't wait until I can do something like this!

Erin, good intentions on the cupcakes. Just need to boost that willpower a bit!

I'm actually going to make a request like Chloe did about the BIGGEST LOSER because DH and I go to bed early at night so we tape it and then watch it the next evening. I haven't seen it yet, will in a few hours though!

I'm going to go check out the points as well.
I did my measurements:
Neck 15
Upper Arm 16
Chest 42
Waist 41
Hips 61
Thigh 33
Calf 19

As for my weigh in
LW 285.8
CW 285.4
PL .4
AND it's Shark Week!!!! Erin, DH had quite the laugh from that term and likes it LOL!

Well, I'm off and will see you all tomorrow!

Morning everyone.. I have to get in here real quick cuz it's going to be another busy day.

Ryo - The female trainer is Jillian Michaels. I have been a fan of hers since the first BL season. I have her books, her videos, am a member of her website and I listen to her podcasts on the weekend. She can totally be harsh, but she also completely invests herself in the people on the show. Last season, they were showing a lot more of her caring side and she commented on her radio show that she was starting to be known as the "softie" so, I think with that she has tried to step it up a bit because she has always been known as a hard ass.

Although.. you always have to consider the editing. The editors can piece together reaction shots that don't even go with what is happening in the scale. I've heard of them doing that before for dramatic purposes.

Anyway.. just had to throw that out there.

Here's my weigh in and measurements..

LW - 236
CW - 235
PL - 1

Measurements

Neck - 15
Upper arm (both same) 15.5
Chest - 37.5
Waist - 45
Hips - 53
Thighs (both were the same) 29
Calves (again both were the same) 15

Have a great day everyone!

I was happy about who got to stay last night but felt bad that the one guy broke his alignment. I know he felt awful about it.

However, I think that female trainer is way HARSH! I mean, I know it's a TV show but the way she looked disgusted when the contestants only lost a 'measily' 3 or 4 pounds! I was like, they lost! be happy for them! I only caught the tail end though and didn't get to see Rocko!

I just found out that I am getting new carpet in my bedroom!! yay! and we got a new washing machine and dryer. Ah, things are looking up in my personal housing environment ;)

Have a great day guys. keep shrinking!

Good morning all,

I am checking in now with weight and measurements as I am not sure I will be able to later today as I have school, two teens to get to and from school, a home to clean, dinner to cook, and homework to get done as well. So yeah it is a full day. I also have to get to the gym this afternoon between picking up the kids and fixing dinner.

So here it goes:

Neck 16.25
Chest 46
Waist 43.5
Hips 53
Biceps Left and Right: 15
Thighs Left 28.75 Right 27.5

LW 231.4
CW 230.5
WL .9

OMG!!! lol, such a small amount for the first week to celebrate, but I don't think that I lost the first week of the last challenge. Of course I am sweating off a lot of sodium. When I quite smoking back in february I picked up eating sunflower seeds in the car and I have also been getting A LOT of cravings for soda for the last 2 weeks as well. But it has helped that I have been eating pretty well during this last 2 weeks as well.

Okay all, time to get my breakfast, make a couple of lunches, and get myself ready to get gone to school.

Talk to everyone soon.
Lisa

Hi folks-- just checking in! I made some new goals for this week which I will post tomorrow for my benefit and maybe others as well. I will also get out the ol' measuring tape to get the inches in.

Not bad considering I had all that cake on Sat & was still drinking my p-o-p.

Erin, I just wanted to ask why you wouldn't consider weighing yourself naked at work... think of it as multi-tasking and making new friends :)
Just kidding, I'm certain management would not be amused plus the breeze in the nether regions. chilly!

Hi Everyone!

Hope your day's going well!

Biggest Loser tonight emoticon

Jose, I know what you mean about knowing better and doing it anyway. We all have those days. I have learned that I just have to forgive myself and get back on as soon as I can, otherwise I'd never make any progress!

I turned my best guy friend, who's also a big guy trying to lose and get healthy, onto turkey pepperoni and he was shocked that he thought it was just as good as regular. He had a bad experience with a turkey burger and had never tried any other turkey products. I buy the Hormel and it's got half the calories (70) and 1/3 of the fat (4g) for the same amount, which is about 17 slices. (I usually weigh stuff emoticon though, since it makes me feel I know exactly what I'm getting according the nutritional info on the package and I don't kid myself.) I swear you can't tell the difference, except it's not greasy YUM! There are times I'll just nuke it in the microwave to get it crispy and just eat it like that, sometimes with cheese. I think we all know how it is when we find those little things that do it for us! I also love and turned him onto the turkey italian sausage links by Butterball for 140 calories and 9g of fat. There are some other good brands, but that's my favorite. He still can't believe how good this stuff is and healthy too! Great with pasta and sauce or just on bread or a bun! I take one straight from the freezer, rinse it, make a slit right down the casing and peel the casing off. I brown it in a pan with spray, while still frozen and then slice it up and cook it nice and brown and crispy and put with pasta and sauce. Hmmm-mmmmm!!! emoticon

OK, I just realized while writing this that they don't have any emoticons for yummy noises! That's really too bad!

OK, enough about that, I think I still have enough calories to actually have pasta tonight emoticon Who knew I could on about turkey products? They're a beautiful thing! Unlike turkey bacon, which I like, to me you just can't tell the difference, but I'm sorry when it comes to bacon there's just nothing like the real thing! Let me know if you try them and what you think.

Alison, good to see you emoticon on the loss!

Ryokineko happy belated birthday! Sorry if I missed saying it before! As far as I'm concerned all bets are off when it comes to being good on your birthday! You'll get back on now I know! I know you were good on food, but I hope you at least had some emoticon ! Birthday cake is a weakness of mine!

I agree about the emoticon . I've got both kinds and I agree with Niki about not liking how it bounces around when you try to lean down and look. My digital with fat percentage broke awhile ago, so I'm glad I had been weighing at work too, which is the only place I weigh now. Don't laugh anyone, and some of you may know this from the last BLC, but I use a pallet jack that has a scale. I realized one day while weighing a pallet of freight that I could easily stand on it and weight myself too and figured it has to be accurate. It's always been a bit friendlier then my digital was anyway, so it's fine by me, except you can't weigh naked emoticon first thing in the morning like I like to, but oh well that's ok.

Lynn, it so good to see your smiling face again! Don't feel bad for not keeping it touch! That was so beyond your control. I hope that you and your family are all well! emoticon

emoticon to everyone who had a loss or maintained this week! I know that the rest of you will all get back on track! The show is a motivator for me and I hope it is for you too and it's on tonight! emoticon

Take care,

Erin emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hey Everyone.. sorry I was MIA over the weekend. I decided to skip my ride on Saturday and spend the day with my partner (we don't seem to get much time together these days)and the babies. If any of you would like, I'm adding pics of the twins to my profile today. Ugh.. they are so flippin cute, I can't stand it!

So, I didn't do much in the way of working out this weekend and my calorie counts went out the window on Saturday, but I was better on Sunday. We went to a huge farmers market Sunday morning with the kids and got some great freggies.

I've been back on track as of Monday morning, so we'll see where my weight comes in at tomorrow.

I feel like I missed so much just over 3 days, but I read everything, so I hope I don't forget anyone..

Michelle - Congrats on your 10k! I know it's not for everyone, but I've found that things like a 10k or for me Century rides give me motivation and something else to work for so that I'm not just concentrating on losing weight. You work to get in shape to do the walk or ride and the weight comes off in the process.

Rick, Sarah, Erin, Alison, Michelle and anyone else I didn't get.. emoticon on your weight loss! That's fantastic! Keep up the good work!

Jose - I hear ya about the pizza with your brother. I have such a hard time when my friends want to go out all the time. I just haven't learned how to be ok with ordering healthy stuff when I'm at a restaurant with so many wonderful stuff. I know how to order healthy, but a little stubborn 5 year old comes out in me and I don't wanna order good stuff. lol..

Andrea - Congrats on your engagement!

Chloe - You crack me up.. Have fun at your Giants game!

Ryo - Happy belated Birthday! Maybe my eyes just suck but I've never been good at reading the little lines on the scale and I never liked how if you move a little to your left the needle would bounce around. I got a digital scale a while ago that also tells you your fat percentage. Not sure how accurate, but it can be another motivator.

Well.. i gotta actually get some work done this morning. I seem to spend so much time on this board some days that I wonder how I get any work done at all.

Have a great day everyone!

~Niki

I'm sooooooo happy to be back home, I've been in Shreveport La with out internet do to Hurricane Ike, we evacuated on 9/11 and I just got back home yesterday. Morning Pinkies,

Well, I am getting old ;) I cannot see the individual markers on the scale....they are too small and too far away. This weekend I think I will have to get a digital scale! haha. But from what I could tell this week I stayed even :( I would liked to have lost a pound or two but it was my birthday and I did indulge a little this weekend (mostly alcohol-not food, I was pretty darn good with the food if I say so myself)

So sorry for not being around, back to work and finding it hard to juggle everything. Between work, exercise, courses, scouts etc... not too much time left for posts but will try to check in and at least read what everyone is up to even if I don't have the time to post. Well off to bed but just wanted to post my weigh in.

Hello All, GREAT JOB on week 1!!

No major gains and lots of losses, and I continue to be impressed by how many are posting so frequently:) I do not always post as frequently, but I do check in to read the conversations!

I am not sure when I will get to the measurements, but will post when I can:) We started a Biggest Loser Challenge at work this week since remnants of Hurricane Ike cancelled school for us several days last week. We each are putting in $10, and the winner gets the pot, nothing like cash motivation, lol!

Woohoo! Howdy, Pink Shrinkers!

It does my emoticon so much good to see so many of us supporting each other! That's so freakin' AWESOME!

Jose, can't blame you on that one. Deep dish? YUM! But, like you said, you'll get back on track, and know next time to fill up on salad first, then have only 1 slice. That'll save you about 1600 calories! All things in moderation. Got your measurements. I've never known how that works with guys pants, either. Women's sizes are so much different. Oh, and noticed you're doing points this week too. Woohoo! Excellent!

Ryo, way to go on not only supporting your friend, but for making healthy choices for yourself! And yes, with those gourmet cheeses, you're definitely eating fancy!

Hey, Ms. Laura! Hope you had a great weekend - I'm guessing you had some packing going on, heh? I can only imagine how excited you are.

Andrea, I'm glad you made it! And congratulations on your engagement! I can totally understand why you would want to visit the wedding pages, so we're happy to have you check in here first. Woohoo! Oh, and I see you are doing a different style ticker, not with your weight and moving down, but with the total pounds you want to lose and moving up. I can keep track of your pounds lost that way if you want, or you can post your Starting Weight and Goal Weight, then do your weigh in Mon, Tues or Wed each week. Whichever works for you. Again, CONGRATS!!!

Sarah, great job on the loss! And not only that, but nearly 60 pounds lost. YOU ROCK!!!

Dana, girl, I know that now that you are home and in a controlled environment you'll be back on track in no time. And yes, it was a brilliant idea to take your daughter to check out the birthing ordeal. I hope that keeps her in line to NOT want a kid any time soon. Heck, maybe you'll be able to babysit once in a while, and you can make Alexa watch Kaydence for an entire day. If that doesn't cure her, nothing will! And thank you for posting measurements.

Michelle, YEEHAW! A 10k walk? That's amazing! Well done, you Pink Shrinker you! And to not finish last, I know how that feels. I did the annual Bay to Breakers in SF for the first time this year (for those of you who haven't heard of it, it's been around for about 100 years and a large percentage of folks dress up in costume - even if that costume is being NAKED!) and was so happy to get it done! It was 7.46 miles, and luckily, only one stretch of uphill walking, about 4 or 5 blocks long. (You all know of the hills in SF, right? We're lucky there's only that one stretch!)

Lisa (MRY), you are so funny! Yeah, it definitely helps when the trainers, or regular members, are hot. And it's terrific that your daughter is becoming active now! Woohoo!

Alicia, there is nothing wrong with maintaining, especially since it's the first week of the challenge. I know you'll get that bootay into action and will be taking off the pounds!

Erin, you are FANTABULOUS! 3 pounds loss is wonderful! emoticon You are a ROCKSTAR! And yes, you can go ahead and add your points now. I think Lisa (*~*~) doesn't send them to me until Wednesday evening, so that's totally fine.

I will be posting my stats on Wednesdays, since I almost always do a little something on the weekends. It's usually Saturday, after my dance class, but just to be on the safe side...

Keep rockin' the challenge Pink Shrinkers! We're going to kick some Biggest Loser butt!!!

Chloe

PS - I am going to my final Giants game of the season tomorrow night, so will be taping Biggest Loser tomorrow. I hope to be able to stay awake long enough when I get home to watch it, but may not. Don't worry if you want to post something about it though. Just give a little warning before you do, so I know to skip some of the conversation. Like WARNING: BIGGEST LOSER TALK COMING UP! I'll do my best to move to the next post. Ah, who am I kidding? I'll probably read it anyway. But, since it's only the second week, I don't really know any of their names yet, so I probably won't even know who your talking about :-).

Soho,

It was a wonderful feeling to get back in there it truely was. I will admit it was rather hard to make all the way through but I kept plugging along with it. I go after my kids get out of school as I have to get my 16 year old girl in there with me to work out as well. Mine also starts working on Oct. 7th for one hour one day a week through the workability program. It is scary to see them grow up and make the same milestones in their life that we did in ours.

Which reminds me, dana (ddavis the one that just got home from el paso)has yours started to drive?? I know you have a 16 year old to. Mine has not yet but will be by the end of the school year. Atleast I think she will be.

Okay time to finish cooking dinner all,

Have a good one and will check in later.

OK, here's my measurements:

17.64 in - Neck
12.99 in - Upper Arms
44.80 in - Chest
47.13 in - Waist
42.96 in - Hips
21.46 in - Thighs
16.89 in - Calves

As Alison said, doing this by yourself is tricky. I'm not sure that my measurements are accurate at all - especially the waist one. I'm wearing size 42 pants and I've got lots of room in them. I'm not sure how to correlate the waist-size to pant size... I read somewhere that pant size for men can be deceiving (ie a 42 pants may actually be 47 in waist). I'll have to measure my pants.

Michelle, WTG on the 10k! That's awesome!!! I'm hoping to do a 5k on Oct 5.

MRYKYLDY2, I know the feeling. I took a break from the gym for a month due to a knee injury. Getting back was an awesome feeling. I'm now trying to go during my lunch hour.

Dana, I hear you on the fast food! =) I actually live on fast food most of time and I've slowly started discovering things that I like to eat that are healthy at the fast food joints. In high school, we had a class where we had to make up a healthy diet based on Carl's Jr food (I think they are called Hardee's elsewhere). We were able to do it but you needed to know how to order stuff a certain way (ie skip cheese, avoid secret sauces, mayo, use mustard and ketchup as condiments, etc)

ACCT1908, you're maintaining. That's good too! =)

WATCHOUTWORLD, WTG on the loss!

ERIN and RYO, thanks so much for the support. I should know better but this was one of those cases where I think my stomach didn't want to hear from my brain. I must admit this pizza is good. It's deep dish Chicago style - evil stuff but tasty. I'll have to look into turkey pepperoni. It sounds pretty good.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Mine was ok, except getting into a bit of munching trouble with some angel food cupcakes I made that I added a pack of sugar free chocolate pudding to the mix before baking. The weren't bad in calories, but I ate way too many. OK, deja vu. I think I might have mentioned this before. Anyway, they were really good and I guess I still can't have that kind of stuff around, even though I try once and awhile to see if that will ever change, Oh well, not yet, if it ever does!

Jose, I can really relate to not realizing how bad something is gonna be until after the fact. That's happened to me even when I thought I was actually making a healthy choice. emoticon It's so frustrating! It's especially hard when it's something you love! I've learned that I had to find a way to get my pizza fix at home. I use either whole wheat tortillas or light multi grain english muffins that have 8 g of fiber and only 100 calories, skim mozzarella and turkey pepperoni that is just as good as the regular and so much better for you, and not so greasy, and you can always find low cal tomato sauce. This usually does it for me when I need that pizza taste. It's amazing the ways you find at home to make the things you love. I know it's not exactly the same, but it works when you need a fix and don't want to use too many calories. I'm sure you'll get back on track and now you know for next time. You've already done such a emoticon job of losing over 60lbs!

Andrea emoticon on your engagement! How exciting!

Dana, I know it can be so frustating when you don't have healthy options! I also know you'll get back on track and what you mean about the up and down part. It would be so great if they didn't come back so easily! I agree about your daughter and letting her see what it takes to have a emoticon , which ironically is the easier part, then raising one! I've taken care of lots of kids and that seems to be the consensus! emoticon on becoming a Godmother!

Michelle emoticon on your first 10k! That's awesome! You have every right to be extremely proud of yourself! emoticon

Lisa, I'm glad you're feeling better and if REALLY cute trainers motivate you then all the better!
emoticon

Good to see you Sarah! I'm sure you'll get back on. You've already had so much success with losing 60lbs! emoticon I can't wait to have lost that much!

Hello all,

Well I am checking in now as I may not get to later on today. I have school monday and wensdays and today I get to finally get to the gym after 2 weeks of not being able to, can we say WWWWWWAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No I am not excited, not even a little bit. Well, okay I am. I actually miss going to the gym. I think my daughter misses at as well, she asked when we were going to start going again, when I told her today, her reply was yay!! I can't blame her cause there are some really and I mean REALLY cute trainers that work at our gym. Plus going will get me out of the stench of beef jerky being made to.

In case I don't check back in later, everyone have a good day today.

Hey Pinkies,

I'm back from El Paso. I want everyone to know that everything is okay, and that my daughter Alexa and I went there to be with her bestfriend who had her baby. Alexa got to be in the Delivery room with her and got to see first hand what it's like to have a baby. My Alexa is only 16, her bestfriend is 19. And well, anything I can do to prevent this from happening to her, I will most definitely do. That includes let her see first hand and up close and personal what it takes to give birth.

And I am now a Godmother to this little bundle of joy, which is a girl. Her name is Kaydence Aliria, she is 5lbs. 9oz. and 18 1/2 in. she is only 5oz. bigger then my alexa was when she was born and when I look at this little baby, I just can't believe that Alexa was once this little. I just can't get over how fast the last 16yrs. have gone by. I really do miss my baby girl being so little.

Well, anywho, just wanted to fell everyone in. And while I was gone and enjoying this time with the new baby, well, I lived off of fast food! And know my weight in will show how much. That was the only part of the trip that I didn't like, not being able to eat healthier. And yet I know that I will get it back off, I just hate the whole up and down part of losing weight. I wish that when You lost lbs. they really stayed gone!

Life is strange that way!

So now for my weight in:
LW - 288
CW - 292
PL or PG - +4

This just means I have to work even harder this week to get those darn lbs. plus some off.

Sometimes I fell like the little Engine that could:
I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN, I CAN, I CAN!!!
AND I WILL MAKE IT OVER THE MOUNTAIN!!!!!

I am going to try and catch up with everyone and read what was posted while I was gone. I fell like missed a month or something.

GO PINK SHRINKERS!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Dana

Mornin' Shrinkers!

Jose-I know what you mean. It's amazing when you find out how many calories are in some of your favorite foods.

I have a good friend who is gluten free and I eat with him a lot so I really think that has improved my eating a lot just by doing that. It's difficult for him though and sometimes I feel bad. But he is trooper. He also can't have chocolate or cow's milk/products (except butter b/c it's just fat! haha) but he has goat and sheeps cheese. it's a whole new world making a pizza with Gluten free flours like Tapioca and Rice Flour with Goat and Sheep cheese! Really good though. Makes me feel like I am eating a gourmet pizza somewhere fancy! And the dough is so heavy that you really only can eat one peice.

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend. I was doing pretty good until yesterday when my brother stopped by for a visit. He wanted to have deep dish pizza from my favorite place (Zachary's Pizza). I ate a few slices and later realized that each slice is like 800 calories. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Good thing I only go to this place once every few months. =)

OK, here's my details...

LW 219
CW 220
PL +1

I'll post my measurements later...

Good morning, Pink Shrinkers!!!

When I tried to create this thread last night, I was given the message that site maintenance was taking place, so I couldn't get to it 'til this morning.

Welcome to week 2 of the Biggest Loser 6 Challenge!

For those of you who haven't checked in before, what you'll want to do between now and Wednesday evening is post the following:

LW (Last week's weight)
CW (Current week's weight)
PL (Pounds lost)

In addition, for everyone, if you have not already posted your measurements, please go ahead and do that by Wednesday. Normally, we'll do that approx. every two weeks, but we'll be doing it again next week because I got us started late on that.

I hope you all have a terrific week!
Chloe
