Tammy, I just reread your post and it certainly sounds like you're right in the thick of things.

I'm praying that you've made it through okay and will be back soon to check in with your worried Spark Friends!

The coffee table in my living room is actually presentable... I have a blue runner with gold and red stripes on the edges with a big shallow red bowl with a gold band in the middle. I think it's made to hold a candle, but I don't have one in it.

The coffee table in my family room collects "stuff"!
Two TV Guides, a iron candle stand with a 3-wick candle burned 2/3 of the way down, a wooden bowl that's black on the outside and red on the inside that's got scrap paper and pens in it, the TiVo remote, a cordless house phone, a paperback book I've finished reading, a hair tie, and a tealight holder minus a tealight at the moment.

Was up late watching storm coverage. Haven't seen the news yet this morning, so I'm praying for the best for everyone down there. The power and destruction of Ike is horrifying. Tammy, I hope you came through this okay.

Thanks, Elizabeth!!! I'm back with more good news!

I weighed in this morning at 233!!! I didn't weigh in last week since I was on the road, so I was hoping for a three pound drop for 2 weeks and I got 4! I'm soooo happy with that!!! Now I've got 99 pounds to go!!! WHOOO HOOOO!

Audra, that is awesome about the 18/20 capris! Go you!

To catch up on questions, I hate spiders especially if they TOUCH me. And I don't have a coffee table! I did have one in here, but I decided I liked the openness of the living room without it, and all it did was accumulate books and junk.

Been watching Ike store coverage since I got home. It's terrifying. Praying that you are okay, Tammy.

Kris, I hope you have a good time at the retreat and that you're feeling better!

I hate spiders!

If my mom is anywhere close, I have her hunt for me! I've seen her kill little ones with her bare hands...

Not me... they creep me out!

I wore a pair of 18/20 capris to work today!

Yes, they had an elastic waistband... but still!!!

That was exciting that they fit and that I could sit in the them!!!

Last summer, I was in a 26/28!

WHOOO HOOOO!

I'm so happy that it's Friday!

Take care, Crushers!!!

Hey all! I've been down with a migraine all week. It's been driving me crazy. I'm finally feeling back among the living and thought I'd say hi.

Tammy, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts as Ike goes through Texas. I hope that you come through without too many difficulties.

I never heard who won the mini. There was never anywhere for me to post our stats at the end. Oh well, I am excited for BLC 6 to start. The team rosters are being finalized and should be officially announced tomorrow.

Yesterday's QOTD: Yes I have a fireplace. It has a gas fireplace insert, we aren't allowed to have a woodburning one.

Today's QOTD: Not really afraid of spiders in general, but I don't like them much at all. I do have a healthy amount of fear toward poisonous ones though.

I'll be gone tonight and most of the day tomorrow at a women's retreat, so I will probably not be back online until tomorrow evening.

HI TEAM.....

Audra, WE are expected to see windgust of 80mph in our town...I never like to give out my destination but I am 1.5 hours away from Houston, our town is suppose to have the eye of the storm pass over it.....The same thing happend when Angelina hit in the 80's and when Rita hit we had lots of damage and we were without power for 8 days... Yes I am a bit worried and somewhat scared. but we are prepared.. Yes we are also on the evacuation route for Beaumont and Houston and Galveston we are the 1st evacuation hub... But many people have chose to keep going north including many people from our town... Lots of department stores and business are boarding up there homes... We have boards up on our bay window and many others in our neighborhood are doing the same. I will be shutting the computer down later tonight and I will get back on as soon as the storm passes.

Lana thanks for the idea of the popcorn I will check that brand out it sounds really yummy about now!!!

Well Team despite IKE I am still ready for the BLC 6 challenge to start.. Has anybody heard which color team won the mini challenge????

Ok Well I better go I will check in later tonight.

Blessings,
Tammy

emoticon I really donot like 98% of most spiders, but I do favor the granddaddy longlegs spider( i use to play with them when I was a child) and of course I love Charoltte from charolttes web...LOL

My cousin lives in Houston, I need to email her don't know if they left or not.

Audra, I'm glad it's Friday too.

I have a pellet burning stove in my house that I've never learned to work. We tried to get it working once and smoked the place out... so no more unless I have a professional come out and show us what to do with the stupid thing. Frankly, I'd rather use the wallspace for something else! But since my chimney goes through to the outside and up two stories... it's staying - unless I a find myself suddenly with millions to burn!

I finished my last big close report today and made it through session 1 of "Situational Leadership" training class - which was really interesting.

And tomorrow is Friday and payday! Does it get any better than that? Lol!

My apartment is the bottom half of a hundred year old house, so I've got two fireplaces. However, they're both closed up. LOL But I like having the mantles to put things on.

Hey there, Mel!

That is LONG hair!!! I can't imagine having it that long!

I'm a little weird... I grow my hair out in the spring/summer and go shorter in the fall/winter...

My theory is that if you go longer in the summer, you can pull it up off your neck in nice high ponytails! And I get waves/curls in the winter because of the weather, so I so shorter (chin to shoulder length) to take advantage of the curls and wear it down - without it weighted down by length!

We should get a posting of the BLC6 teams soon! There were so many people signed up that they had to set-up a few new teams and get additional captains.

But Kris, Tammy and I are all ready to go, too! We're very excited for BLC6 to start!

Night!

Hey CRUSHERS!!! emoticon

It's been a few days.. Probably longer than that.. lol.. been busy with work.. So busy, I'm zonked by the time I get home lately..
How is everyone doing?? I have slipped a little bit on my weight.. I gained 2 of my pounds back.. See what happens when I'm not in a challenge.. Can't wait for the next one to start..

QOTD: I have always had long hair.. I love it long believe it or not.. You would think living in hot-Florida that I would keep it short, but no.. When I had my daughter, it was so far past my butt that I had to make sure I clipped it up when I went to the bathroom.. LOL I am in the process of growing it that long again..

Way to go on your AWESOME loss this week, Lana!

Tammy, I think that's an awesome way to reward yourself!!!

I'm just checking in from work on lunch again.

We're close to being through close - one more major report to go and then onto reconciliations!

My hair wasn't cut until I was in the 5th grade... so it was down to my butt. If I remember correctly, I couldn't quite sit on it!

I'll be back!

HI TEAM!!!

SORRY I DID NOT SWING BY YESTERDAY.....

I WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER YESTERDAY'S QUESTION OF THE DAY FIRST..........

MY GOALS... MY FIRST GOAL WAS TO LOOSE 10% OF MY BODY WEIGHT FOR WHEN I STARTED BACK IN JUNE.... IT WAS 10% which will be 297.... I have a plan.... My husband is buying me a Pandora Bracelet with two clasp for getting under 300. I am going to buy my first charm at 297 to go on the bracelet. The charms cost any where from 10-85 dollars and I am not sure how I should award myself... I think I should do every 15 pounds....

Then emoticon The longest my hair has ever been was in the middle of my back... it was all through high school and 1st two years of college. now i keep it between shoulder my neck and shoulder....

QOTD: My hair, My hair. It's right below my shoulders right now and that's the longest it's been since I was a kid. It's been growing since February w/out a cut. It's terribly curly and for some odd reason I want it long, maybe one last hu rah before I turn 40 in a couple of years.

Hi there, Crushers! Just doing a slow fly-by at work today! We're mostly on schedule with close, so I actually took a few minutes to relax (read: Spark!) at work!

My next mini-goals would be 234 - 100 pounds to go, 228 - my next 10% mini-goal, and 223 - my halfway point!

I love celebrating little successes!

In the past, I've "splurged" on new exercise DVDs or equipment. Healthy rewards! But I love the idea of the day trips! Might have to snag that one!!!

I'll be back later!

I have rewards set up for each of my mini-goals. For hitting 299, 249 and 199 lbs. the reward is to start doing a new thing fitness-wise. For 274 and 224, the rewards are trips--a day trip to DC with my mom and then a weekend in NYC--both of which will involve a lot of walking. For 324 the reward is pretty small and not realy fitness oriented, but fun--I'm going to go see a couple of movies in the same day. :)

But I know what you mean about clothes. I have a small collection of spring/summer size 2X clothes from when I ever so briefly glanced off that size a couple years ago, and I'm hoping to be that size next spring/summer. Next fall though--I won't be my goal size, but I'll be in serious need of clothes!

I see that you are pretty close to that first mini-goal! Excellent job, Elizabeth, do you have any plans of good healthy ways to celebrate you mini-goal accomplishments? I want to celebrate all my accomplishments but not with food or shopping for clothes, I don't plan to get settled into a size is why I don't want to do clothes shopping, What would be a good way to celebrate? emoticon

Let me confess, Tammy, that I was a Top Ramen/Cup-o-Noddle junkie... and yes, I do know how bad that is... Lol!

I have given up Cup-o-Noodles (did that cold-turkey back in February) and found a modification for my other soup-habit. Nissin makes a lower fat/lower sodium ramen. I use 1/4 of the noodle patty so that I get my noodle-fix. Then I add in tofu and lots of veggies, like bok choy, napa cabbage, green onions, peas, snow peas... whatever's in the fridge! It's very low fat and pretty low cal... but I limit myself to soup only on the weekend because of the sodium content! Herb Ox mades a sodium-free broth, but it's really expensive!

Lana, I'm so glad you're a Crusher! I just loved reading your post! I'm almost at the 7 month mark and can't believe I'm still going strong... Sparking is magical, I swear!!!

Someone turned me onto Hebrew National 97% fat free franks. I think they're 45 calories a dog, and our store brand buns are only 100 each. BTW, they're really good!

Hi TEAM

UGGGGH it is defiantly a Monday! I just do not want to go to work today. I guess we all have those days.

Lana sounds like you did have a very busy weekend! By the way emoticon for making the ham sandwich choice. I am with you this team an the Sparks program keeps me Moving Forward and I so love the encouragement as well!

Audra soup is your comfort food(what kind?) mine would be pasta, Macaroni and cheese would be my first choice then my second is fettituni alfredo.. OH YUM....

emoticon I would say my indulgence I have to watch daily is sweet tea. I love sweet tea and I am happy to say I have gotten where I only drink 1 20 oz glass of tea with my lunch or dinner other than that it is water!!

Hey everybody, I know I go missing for days and then pop back on, I had a very busy weekend, my oldest son turned 8 on Sunday. I have to tell you all, we have bday parties at a small waterfall at a state park close by, the kids get to slide and play in the water which is great. We also have hot dogs and cupcakes, ugh! I was baking cup cakes on Friday night and when I would get a batch in the oven I'd go get on my exercise bike and ride until they came out, the outcome of that was 40 cardio minutes and 400 calories burned! Whoo Hoo! I didn't even eat a cup cake on Saturday. As I was buying the hot dogs I was reading labels, I always buy Oscar Mayer chicken and turkey hot dogs anyway but one hot dog has 130 calories! The buns have 120 calories! That's 250 calories w/out condiments! I thought no way, I made my self a ham sandwich which was 130 calories instead. I'm excited to see the change in my thinking, I am losing more weight counting my calories and using my food log, you can look at it on my spark page, please look at it and call it to my attention if you catch me slacking! I think this is the longest I've ever been excited about losing weight, I always start out excited and then lose steam rather quickly. I think I am becoming obsessed, but what a great obsession. I just love SP, it's give me companionship with like sized, like minded people! It's no fun for me to partner up with some one who needs to lose about 20 pounds when I need to lose 150, thanks for all of your support and friendship! I look so forward to the rest of the challenge with you girls! emoticon

Hi Crushers!!!

I am home! I've managed to unpack the car, but not my suitcase... and I've had a late lunch and watched the F1 race...

Not a very productive day, but I'm beat... Just going to take it easy tonight and get a good night's sleep. But I do need to do a load of wash so I'll have clean pants for work later this week.

Hope everything is going well for the Crushers!!!

Tammy - for me it's soup - that's my ultimate comfort food! It's the sodium that gets me! Hope your daughter is back to 100% soon - and I hope that you stay well, too!

HI TEAM

Audra it sounds like you are having a wonderful time!!!

I have had a very busy weekend. I had to take care of my daughter this weekend she has been sick, it is the case of going back to school bound to get something. She is starting to perk up a bit and feel better, but the stressed seems to get double when you have your regular household chores the things we need to get at the store for the week. I am just feeling stress and when I am stress I want and crave CARBS(they are the comfort food)....

Sorry for venting so!!....

I do want to answer the question of the day!! I loved connect four and LIFe when I was a kid....

Take care and check in later.

Spent so much time at the local museum by the covered bridge... that we didn't have time to stop and see the covered bridge! So that's on the to-do list for our next trip!

Had a great lunch and hung out talking for a while... so now I only have about 20 minutes before we have to leave for the races! Tonight is all main event action, so I'm really excited to see how the points have come out and where my favorite drivers will line up!

Anyway, I'm in the lobby again, so I probably won't be back on until I get home tomorrow afternoon.

Have a great rest of the day and a wonderful Sunday!

I liked Mousetrap! Mostly just setting up all the stuff...

~Aldous Huxley

"Let a joy keep you. Reach out your hands and take it when it runs by." ~Carl Sandburg

" We cannot selectively numb emotions. When we numb shame, we also numb joy, gratitude, etc"

Hi there!
I am actually connected from my hotel room this morning... still said I had a weak signal, but I was able to sign on! Whooo hooo!

Kris, thanks for putting together all the team results for us! We did great!!!

I'm headed out pretty soon - we were going to go walking/hiking at Bidwell Park but we got up way to late to do that... too hot!!! But we didn't get to bed until about 2:30... so change of plans... we're going to try and find the historic bridge near here... I think it's the oldest triple decker covered bridge still in existance... and we're meeting some other friends of ours who are up here for the races for lunch around 3.

As a way young kid, I loved Chutes and Ladders and Memory. As an older kid, I loved Life, Payday, Money Card, Sorry, and Monopoly.

See you later! Have a great Saturday!

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What board games did you enjoy playing when you were a kid?

Tammy, I've always wanted to go on a scrap-retreat, but it's never worked out! I hope you have the best time ever!!!

Hi again, Crushers! I found the link to the glass site. They're stuff is amazing. Buying myself a small vase from there today was definitely the last nice thing I've done for myself!

Anyway... I seem to only be able to connect reliably if I'm in the "breakfast room" off the lobby... the bad part is that the lobby is only open until 9pm... so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get on later tonight or not. I'm going to post my "business" posts after this one just in case I can't connect again from my room later - or if I'm too tired!!!

We're enjoying ourselves - it's nice to get away - and really nice to be connected!

TGIF!

QOTD:I guess the nicest thing I have done for myself lately is taking better care of myself. I take time to walk and exercise which is a luxury for me, time I mean. emoticon
