Hi, Everyone!

I'm sorry for not checking in over the weekend. I was non-stop on Saturday (walking for about 10 miles, then to a sushi dinner with a friend, then on to a movie (Breakfast Club) in the park. And sleeping a lot today, then laundry and cleaning. Finally have a chance to check in.

Please stop by then new thread for our final week! And remember to sign up for the Mini Challenge if you want (we probably won't be on the same team, we're all getting mixed up for that but should have at least one other person from the Pink team on the new one so make sure to include the Pink team info), and log any exercise you got in this weekend.

Dana,

I am jealous, I want a WII fit sooooooo bad. Or even just a regular WII. It is a matter of convincing the hubby to fork out the cash for the WII before getting his iPod touch. I have tried everything known to man. I guess I will have to start scrambling for change to save up and get it.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I have been gearing up for the begining of school for 2 teens and myself.

Hello,

Hope everyone is doing good this weekend. I've had a pretty good weekend. I got my new Wii Fit and I just love it. It's so much fun and the time goes by so fast that you don't relize how long you've been playing. I was playing yesterday for about an hour and a half and had so much fun. And the best part of it, is that my hubby and daughter have gottin involved too.

Can't wait to see our final results for our BLC#5. I know that we all did our best and no matter what we are all winners at being losers!

Hi everyone! How has your weekend been? I've been staying active and did a new work out at the Corona Del Mar Beach and it was so wonderful. I think the setting and the beautiful scenery helped to keep me motivated and I pushed harder. The only bad thing was that I got some sun burn but I slept so soundly. I'll be joining that group on tue, thur & sat but will be wearing more sunblock :) Did anyone else try something new or something fun? Have a super Sunday :)

Good Saturday morning.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to sit out the mini challenge and I'll go from there to see what I want to do about the next BLC. I'm in the middle of a plateau and having to go back and forth to the Dr. and the nutritionist and with my back, they're putting me in physical therapy and sending me to the chiropractor so, until I get these health issues, out of the way, I don't want to "weigh" the team down with my lack of points etc.
Let me take the mini challenge time to see how I feel about this and then, if I decide I want back in for the big challenge, then I'll be sure and sign back up.
It was really great having all of you being so supportive and helpful. I'm not quitting Spark People or anything, just bowing out of the next challenge. (for now ;))

Water retention is something that just won't go away. The only relief I get from it is when I go to the track and walk it off. UGHHHHHH

LNINA - I have the same problem you do. Have you tried dieters tea?? It can be rather spendy at $12 or $13 a box out here at the GNC, I have also seen it at walmart as well. It also works pretty good....it's recomended to take at a 6 or 10 day stretch, it also aids in weight loss. Right now, I am taking pills to help with that lil problem and then the swelling is a seperate pill as that is water retention.

Strange thing happened this morning, I got on the scale and I weighed in at 266lbs. I took a herbal tea called senna and I guess it was just build up, I realize now that I have a poor digestive system. I read that people who suffer with obesity should always have a clean colon, and I need to look into that more. Thanks Chloe for your support.

Mornin everyone! Wooo Hooo it's Friday! Tomorrow is the first day of the Cycling class that I'm taking and I think we are doing a short ride after the class. I'm really looking forward to that. Then Sunday my parents are coming up north to camp in the Santa Cruz mountains.. I can't wait. I haven't seen them since February and I'm super close to them. So, I'll be camping Sunday through Tuesday and won't be able to get online until Wed. I hope that's ok for our last weigh in.

Lynn, I'm glad you were able to confirm what's going on with your body. I'm sorry it's PCOS, but now you have an answer, and that's a good thing. And it's terrific that you're staying motivated! Sorry, I've been kind of off track this week with loging in. I went to the doctor on Wed and my doctor confirmed that I have PCOS and she told to stay away from breads and pasta's, and so I have been doing that for the past month, except for my free day's, and now I guess I'm just trying to find my way and figure this thing out. I recently joined the PCOS team and now I just need to be more active with them and get answers to my questions.

And now for your exercise challenge for Friday, July 25th...

NO ESCALATORS/ELEVATORS all day long! You must take stairs every time you have to go to another level in your building or home or wherever. (If you have more than 3 flights, you can bypass the stairs if you start to feel out of breath or otherwise are in pain. I don't want you to hurt yourself.) And remember, it's okay if you have to take a rest in between flights.

Hi Everybody!

It's so good to see that so many of you are feeling so positive with your progress, even when it's not by losing the pounds alone, but the emotional and psychological baggage that is actually is what made most of us overweight in the first place.

It's amazing how once we get past the fear, and how did I allow myself to get to this and not see what I was doing point, that we all have a choice and can DECIDE to change for the better. Once we get beyond the sadness and regret of it it's actually very liberating to know that we have the power, stength and determination to change. We will have bad days, even terrible ones, but I know for me, when I turned that corner in my head I knew I was truly ready for this.

I know that for all of us having this group has been a Godsend and something that has made us realize how strong we really can be!

Be at least as kind to yourself as to those around you. It's ok to take care of you and make yourself a priority. We all deserve it!

Lost the water and garbage I gained last week. I'm working on slowly getting my head back in the game. It's interesting to watch me dig out of my hole. I am fully aware of my dysfunctional thinking and talk myself through it, analyze myself and remind myself it's all in my head, then the light comes on and I can get myself off the couch and walk, or I can drink my breakfast shake instead of grabbing a pastry at work (I work at starbucks). It's really all about valuing yourself. I constantly have to remind myself that I am worth all of this work, and it is only going to make my life easier and more meaningful and longer. We all have different programming from different people/situations. It's up to us to re-program and heal the viruses that are corrupting our success. Have a great week everyone...keep your heads up and remember WE ARE WORTH IT!

good afternoon Pinkies,

I'm having much better days the past few days. Just trying to keep my head up and clear away all those bad memories and letting go of all the bad crap in my head. It really does make a difference to be able to let some things go and move on with getting myself healthy. Even though it's going to be a long road ahead of me, I have faith in myself that I can do it. It's taken over 20 some years for me to get to this point in my life and I know it's going to take some time.

Kristin, try not to let the ups and down of your weight get to you, which I know is hard to not do. What's important is to know that you understand what's going on and hopefully make better choices the next day when you might not have the day before. And always remember that yes we are all in the same boat, as far as wanting to loose weight. We all have our own struggles and our own demons so to speak that we have to deal with, however, we are all here for each other and that's what counts. Know that someone is there to listen to you and may understand just what you are going through.

Keep your head up and try not to be to bummed. It will get better, it just takes time. Lord knows it took us all a few years to put all this weight on, and it's going to take some to get off. Just try to stay positive. You can do it, we all can!!!

Lisa, I'm so glad that you are able to get your hubby to go to the doctor. I know just what you mean about men and trying to get them to do ANYTHING that is good for them. it's about 5 or more years since mine went to the doctor. Let us know what happens. your in my thoughts.

Well everyone, we're almost done with this last week, and it almost makes me said. I've had such a great time with all of you being able to share my problems and listen to each of you and hopefully help each other out. I know that we are still going to be part of this 30 Something team, however, the thought of meeting even more people on a new challenge team is a little bit scary and exciting all in one. Although I can't wait to see what the future brings us all.

Thanks, I am glad that he has atleast agreed to go see the educater. He still does not agree with my method of how to keep track of his carbs. But then again he is an old school nurse and is determined that he is going to always be right. I will definately let everyone know how he accpets it.

Hello everyone,

I have been MIA yesterday with a really good excuse. I finally got my hubby to go see a CDE )certified diabetic educator). As you all know my hubby is a diabetic, even though we have very different views on how to track his carbs. He was taught the percentage method many many many years ago when he was in school. Well that was fine 15 - 20 years ago and also for those that are in the nursing field but he does not understand that it is not applicable to the everyday person such as, oh I don't know, THE REST OF THE FREE WORLD!!! Well, like I said I got him to agree to go, that is my first accomplishment. I think I will let the CDE person humiliate him and tell him to shut his mouth and listen to me. LOL, I know I sound absolutely horrible, I truely am so in love with my hubby but he is a man and like me my adoring hubby does not always listen to what is best for him.

Okay all, I hope you have a good day. I am off to clean out the fridge and put my veggies away in the fridge.

Good morning, Folks!

The ST challenge for Thursday, July 24...

3 sets of 12-15 kneeling rollout with ball (if you don't have an exercise ball, you can do crunches instead, with a pillow under your back for a little extra stretch)

3 sets of 12-15 hip flexor and extensions

3 sets of 12-15 tricep extensions

As always, please do NOT push so hard that you injure yourself, but push hard enough that you'll feel it the next day.

Geez, this is so hard for me right now. I'd gotten so used to losing weight and right now, so not losing, and even had a gain so it's killing me. But, I know that it's something we all go through, I just have to not let it get me down.

Sorry I haven't been on much and haven't been very good at posting or being supportive etc. I've been busy. Even without having any of my own kids here, I'm finding things to do other than sitting on the computer all day. (which is what I normally do.)
It's good for me to be away from this thing though. I'm addicted. YIKES!

Good afternoon Pinkers,

I am feeling better today, just had an off day yesterday with the headache and all. Thank you all for the kind words.

Ryo, glad I could help. You might also try hard candies, sugar free lifesavers are great. They make me feel like I'm being a little bit bad and really do do the job as far as taking my mind off the fact that I need to eat something when it's been to long. And they really do stand up in the heat, I keep some in my purse as well in case I'm in someone else's car or out somewhere else. Sometimes gum will too, but not all the time. It all really just depends on how long I have waited to to eat, which I try not to go more than 4 hours without eating something, however, we all know that sometimes it does happen and it's part of life. Try the snack packs and candies and see if that helps though. Let me know.

Only a few more days left in the last week, just remember:

STAY FIT AND FOCUSED!
WIN THE WAR ON FAT!

Hey ya'll! Hope you are all having a great day.

Dana, great idea about the snack packs. I am always trying to think of things that won't spoil easily. And the cheese nips, wheat thins and snack mix really help me out when I get to that point. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had that feeling. I had an ex who used to ask me if I needed to eat when I'd get grouchy b/c he knew that most of the time when I get grouchy or impatient that is why.

I agree about the dress and what a great picture of the two of you!

I can relate to the clearance rack. I have found that I need to be careful that I don't buy something just because it's a good deal and do I REALLY want or need it and I'm not just talking about clothes. I've definitely gotten so much better about it though, but I still love a deal! It's because we grew up so poor and I detest waste and buying something because of the name on the label or it's "in". I think that's pretty ridiculous, especially when you do it to "keep up", whether you can afford it or not. I can totally not relate to that mentality and going into debt for it. It should be what's right for or looks best on you and what you can afford. Wow! Where did that soapbox come from? Anyway, great dress and great deal!

Dana, I hope you're having a better day today! You've been doing so great and I know you will continue to! You've already turned the huge emotional corner and I know that was huge for you!

Laura, I know you can just taste that 50lbs. Good for you for coming so far! Keep it up!

Hello Pink Shrinkers!!!!

WHEW!!!! This week is flying by!!!! I have been so crazy busy at work, I haven't had time to post. When I get home from work, it's all about KAYDEN!!!!! Sorry I have been such a slacker. I can't believe we are in our last week. We have done such an amazing job.

Chloe, thank you so much for leading us!!!! Your guidance has been so amazing and what gets us through!!!!! I am so glad to be on this team and can't wait for our Mini Challenge.

Good evening Pinkers,

I haven't had a very good day today. Got up this morning and went to the Doctors, they were finally able to get blood! WHOO!

I also had a nice talk with the nurse. We talked about what I'm doing and about Sparkpeople.com. She is going to help me with my weighting and measurements. I felt really good when I left.

But, when I got home my head started to hurt so I took some sinus stuff, well needless to say I ended up falling back to sleep and Chris ( my hubby)woke me up at 1. My head still hurt, I took more sinus stuff and ended up getting sleepy again around 3:30 or so and fell a sleep again until 5:30 or so. So, needless to say all I seemed to be able to do today was SLEEP. The Med's I take is for people with High blood pressure, and it's not supposed to make you drowsy, however, when I take it, that's what it does to me. Go figure!

Anywho, I'm feeling a little bit better tonight, although I still have this darn headache.

Ryo, I know right where you were feeling last night. I get that way when it's been to long since I've eaten anything too. And my family has started to learn that when I start to getting to the point were I want to eat ANYTHING or just go to bed and sleep it away, that they need to be as far away from me as possible. I get so irritable that anything anyone says or does sets me off. And I too have had those times in a parking lot crying and screaming. Except for me, I actually had someone see me, they came running over to my car and wanted to make sure that I was okay, they thought that something bad had happened to me. And when I said no I was fine I just needed to eat, they looked at me like I was some crazed women. Now that's embarrassing. And yes I to learned that when I go some where that I need to have some kind of healthy snack in the car with me at all times!!! 100Cal snacks are the best and they don't spoil in the car when it gets to hot.

I'm glad that you were able to get something healthier then what you would have gotten had the other places worked out. Sometimes faith is all we have to guide us to making the right choices. And sometimes it takes us a little bit to get the clues that are in front us. Which I myself have a hard time seeing at times! In the end I'm glad it worked out best for you!

Chloe, I'm so excited about the mini challenge. I have it marked on my calendar. I think it's great that we can get to know some other members and be able to get/receive help from one another. I'm finding out that that's what Sparkpeople is all about. it's great to be able to be part of something so big and wonderful.

Oh, and I love the idea of having animal names in stead of colors for the mini.

Niki, I just have to tell you how much I like the picture of you and your girlfriend! It's so cute!

Everyone, we are going to start our mini-challenge on August 4th. Yahoo!

I've also been asked if we can split up the team for the mini-challenge so we can get some Pink folks on every team. It seems that we are doing such a great job of posting a lot and supporting each other so much that the idea is we can help others more that way. (I may have misunderstood, and it may be that several of the teams are going to be split up for this reason, but I like to think that our team is rockin'!) I think it's for the mini-challenge only, but it may be for the next BLC as well.

But, we've already talked about this, so I know we can all handle it if/when we're split up. I did ask that at least two of us are on each team so that we have at least one friend on each team. I did get that promise, so we'll all have someone we know we can "hang" with. Probably more than one, though, as there may not be but 3-5 teams for the mini. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a whole lot of people for the mini. My thinking is that it will give folks a chance to try it out, without making an 8 week commitment. It might be easier, emotionally, for folks to try it out if it's for a shorter period. But, that's just my thinking.

Anyway, I wanted to give you all the scoop. Oh, and one more thing. For the mini only, we will be changing the teams from color names to animal names. I think we'll be going with mythological or fantasy animal names, if my suggestion is accepted. (I really like the idea of being the Unicorns!) I've been searching for names that might be good for teams, including Dragons, the Phoenix (rising from the ashes, kind of cool I think ), that sort of thing. I have a list from Wikipedia, I'm going to see if there are names that represent what we are trying to do here, or at least on the positive swing.

I know that when I have not eaten for a long time your blood sugar does get low so I can sympathize there. It's funny though cause when I get really hungry I start to get really grumpy and start to cuss at people. Although I have never cussed at a persons face but it does happen frequently. I have also been known to be really irratable when talking to other people when I am hungry, I try REALLY hard not but sometimes it does not work. I am glad that you made good choices in the end yesterday.

3 sets of 12-15 lying abduction with band (if you don't have a band, okay to do other lying abduction)
3 sets of 12-15 12-15 triangle wall push ups (form a triangle with your thumbs and pointer fingers up against the wall)
3 sets of 12-15 crunches with towel behind your head

Those should get your blood pumping!!!

good behavior this week paid off.

A Starving Lunatic Story:

yesterday I got a point for "choosing wisely" however, it was by the grace of God, not my own will power or determination. I was at a meeting yesterday afternoon and it went a little long and I had no munchies. I started to get a headache and feel a little nauseous. My blood sugar runs just a little bit low so sometimes when it is low, I start feeling that way and just want to put anything in my mouth to make me feel better.

At first I thought, I'll go home and make some yummy gaucamole to have with the guiltless gourmet chips. that will be very filling with all that good avocado fat. But on my way home I got hungry and feeling worse and thought, I am not making anything! to make it worse, I had to pee. (traffic here is terrible so I was sitting in traffic for quite awhile after the meeting got out) so I did not want to get out at any of the healthier sandwhich places that don't have drive throughs near my house! So, what did I do, Long John Silvers. good decision right! The whole time I was telling myself, no, you'll feel awful afterward, you know you will, overstuffed and unhappy. But the other side, the little devil was saying, you haven't had it in SO long. Months! You rarely have it and if you don't have it, it's all you'll think about all night and nothing else will satisfy. So I drove through, made my order and waited patiently in the line. it seemed to be taking awhile. I get to the window and give the girl my debit card and she says, nonchalantly, oh we are only taking cash right now, our machine went down. I said, well, I only have 5 bucks in cash with me. I wish I'd known when I was ordering. (she didn't know, it went down between when I ordered and the car in front of me tried to pay!) So I said, well forget it I guess and she said sorry....so off I drove. No LJS for me!

Okay, I thought, there is a jack in the box near my house, I'll do that. they have that yummy ultimate cheeseburger you love, it's like a treat since you are feeling bad. yeah, that will work. So, I pull into the jack in the box and I kid you not, it was closed for construction. By this time I began to feel like I was never going to get to eat or pee. Every traffic light had felt like an eternity. It was nearing 7pm (yes, I'm a baby when I don't feel well and if any of you have low blood sugar, you will know what I am talking about probably). So what did I do? I had a fit. In the jack in the box parking lot. crying, beating of the steering wheel, yelling. yes, it's true. All I wanted was SOMETHING to put in my mouth.

But I bit the bullet and decided, God is just trying to tell me, you are NOT going to eat at these disgusting, unhealthy places. So I made it to Subway and dragged my lethargic, grumpy, headachy self in. (wouldn't you know there was a line of about 7 people!) and finally got a sandwhich that was fairly healthly along with healthy style chips. I did indulge in a soda though. It was crazy! And I felt so stupid to have thrown such a fit in the jack in the box parking lot. I mean, had someone seen me, or heard me they probably would have been appalled. I mean, they wouldn't know I had low blood sugar and felt like just laying down and sleeping forever. They'd just see this obese crazy woman screaming about needing food!

So, lesson I should have learned long ago...always keep snack em's on hand!

I just counted up the minutes for the weekend challenge, and if no one else posts from any other team before tomorrow morning, WE WON!!!

We had 1200 minutes of play time this weekend, the next closes was Black with 795. By over 400 points we took this challenge!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! You have me tearing up here! I couldn't have done it without all of you, and without my fabulous co-captains, Lisa and Laura, and for Shannon who started with us but was unable to finish with us.

I do hope we all wind up together again, but I know that even if we go our separate ways, we will all triumph and come back stronger. And, I hope we will all stay in touch throughout future challenges.

I can't believe it's the 8th week. I feel like I let you all down. I know I didn't do as well as I certainly could have. Especially with this plateau I'm going through right now. I'm hoping that there's not a gain this week, but I'll find out for sure tomorrow.
Thank you to all of you ladies for being so lovely and supportive. I'll give it my all this week and hope to pull out a big week of points for you all. And for myself.

Hi Everyone!

It's amazing how fast this went! All of you have been so wonderful and supportive!

Chloe, you're the best captain we could've asked for! I hope in the next challenge I am half as lucky!

Dana, I think it's amazing that when you had a bit of a gain this week that you are still feeling so positive about working on all of the mental and emotional baggage, knowing that it is just as important to win the war on obesity. (You're so right. I do hate that word, but it's accurate. Dang it!) To me, that's the more difficult part, but necessary for long-term success. I know now that that's why it's taken me so long to get to the point that I know I am ready to do this, once and for all!

Thank you all so much for being such a great team!

I can't wait for the next challenge and I am so in for the any mini-challenge that comes up!

OK, so here's my weigh-in. I lost the pound I gained last week. I got a little munchie during the end of the week and wish I had done better. I promise to be on my best behavior this last week!

I would like to thank Chloe for a job well done, and all the support and dedication that all of you gave to this weight loss journey. It's so hard doing this without a support system, I feel so blessed to be apart of such a great and inspiring team. Thank you for a wonderful 8 weeks. I'm looking forward to the next challenge.

Mornin everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I did.. and I didn't.. lol. I had a fantastic time camping, but I didn't do so well on the food front. Lots of munchies around the campsite and the obligatory s'mores.

I did have lots of physical activity though. Besides playing with the kids, there was a mixup with our reservation at the campgrounds and we had to switch sites in the middle of the trip. We carried 4 tents from one end of the campground to another.. our version of a Flinstone's RV.

Anyway.. it was a lot of fun and our best friends wedding on Saturday was beautiful. I'm putting pictures up on my page if anyone wants to see.

I can't believe it's the last week. Where the heck has the time gone?

I want to say thank you to everyone for the friendship, camaraderie and support through these weeks. Without it I would have had a really hard time focusing and staying on track.

Also, a big emoticon to Chloe for her hard work as our captain, and to Lisa for keeping track of points and Laura for helping out too! You guys ROCK!

I look forward to our next challenge, but until then, let's Kick some tail this last week!

I am in Clemson, SC now... I haven't been so good about eating. I am leaving here in an hour or so, and will be kidless for a day or two. anywho.... I plan to work my butt off. All Stars will be over soon and I can be home again and really be able to work on my "quest" I am so sorry that I haven't been chatting much on here lately, but I am just so busy and worn out. This week, things should change. I can't weigh in until I get home... not sure I really want to anyway... I will keep y'all posted! I hope everyone had a great week!!!!

And now for the exercise challenge for today, since I forgot (for the last time) to post it last night...

Cardio for 60 minutes, but a little different today. Instead of doing it all at once, change it up on your body and do 4 - 15 minute sessions. You can do 4 different things, or the same thing 4 times. On your morning break, on your lunch, on an afternoon break, when you arrive home, whenever works for you. But break it up today.

Hi everyone,

Boy have we come a long way. I know that for some of us we wish we could be better losers, however, it took time to put all this weight on and now it's going to take time to get it all off. I know that I personally have enjoyed being a part of the Pink Shrinkers and am grateful for all of the support that I have gotten from all of you. I may not have lost the amount of weight that I wanted to, and yet at the same time I have found myself again and am finding that loosing the weight is not what is going to make me happy or the only thing that is going to make me healthy. I have learned that I need to work on why I am OBESE, (yes the word we hate), and start not only working on loosing those lbs, and also start on loosing the baggage that I mentally carry around with me. For then will I truly be happy and healthy.

I have learned this from all of you, by getting to know you and becoming friends via the net and Sparkpeople, for this is truly a blessing and an honor to be part of something bigger then just me, I feel I have a family here with all of you and have been able to share things I don't even like to talk to my family about.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is THANK ALL OF YOU!

for one more week we are all a team and what lies ahead for use is yet to be seen, and yet I know that even if/when we do the mini challenge and/or the BLC#6 challenge that we may be on new teams and that is okay, cause then we can share with a new family and help and/or receive help from each other.

I am ready to start a new. Each day is filled with new and exciting new possibilities and none of us should ever take a moment for granted, we never know what may be lurking around the corner for us!


STAY FIT, STAY HEALTHY, STAY POSITIVE!!!!
TOGETHER WE CAN WIN THE WAR ON FAT!!!
WE ARE ALL WORTH THE EFFORT, WE ARE IMPORTANT, WE ARE SOMEONE SPECIAL!!!

Welcome to the final week, Pink Shrinkers!

I want you all to know how much I have enjoyed getting to know all of you, and how grateful I am to have such a great team! I think we all work really well together, have respect for each other, and truly care how others are doing in our lives. We've all told stories of our hardships, about how we may have gained weight to begin with, and what we are going to do to get healthy again, including exercise, eating better, and taking on emotional issues we may not have been ready to face before.

I want to thank all of you for being such a fantastic team! I'm very much looking forward to our next go 'round, whether we do the mini-challenge on our own or with the rest of the teams, and then BL6 starting in September.
