Kids, you got to love 'em. They can be so brutually honest.

We just got back from the Mall of America. We played 18 holes of mini golf and then we just walked around the mall for a couple of hours. My husband is a fast walker, so we were walking at a good pace.

Hi all,

Just checking in to say hi! Sorry I have been so quiet, but I am having a bit of a rough go with staying on track - nothing major, just wobbly. (Details are in my blog...I don't want to clog things up here with whining!!) ;)

Deanna - good for you! One thing I am learning is how not to let one choice determine how my entire day is going to be!

Serena - I so appreciate how supportive you always are to everyone you reply to. Your positivity is so encouraging!

Lori - I may try the punisher tomorrow if I can bully myself into it! :)

Alley - can I just say thanks for being such a great team leader? you are always around to give support and just remind us why we are here - I really need that some days. Thank you!!

I hope you are all having a great weekend - see you Monday!

x Brandon

This should get you all rolling... My child embarassed the crap out of me last evening!!! I am FINALLY starting to get back into the gym and decided to go the pool for a bit.

Now I know I should take this as a compliment but GEEZ!!!!!! Since I can't do hardly anything at this point for exercise I decided I HAD to do something. You know where this is heading don't you?

I get into my bathing suit... (which by the way for the first time in YEARS I was not horrified by how I looked in it.) Anyway... I go out into the pool area where my son excitedly exclaims , " MOM, YOU LOOK GREAT.....YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE A BEACHED WHALE ANYMORE!"

All eight other people in the vicinity burst out laughing! I was both complimented... and mortified all at the same time!

I sooooooo wish teenagers on all of you!!!!!!

Serena -

I watched that SuperSize me video and while I don't think McD's is any worse than any other fast food place I do agree with your thought that an occassional trip is not the problem...but to keep it to once per month and not count on fast food as the stuff that should "get you by" during hungry times.

How is everybody's weekend going? Its quiet on the boards today.

Come say hi! Tell me how you are doing!

Hey Deanna, I know that a lot of people think McDs is devil food, but I think as long as you don't make those kinds of foods your staples and you actually count them in your calories, a little "splurge", "hiccup" whatever you want to call it, is no big deal. I'm probably in the minority here on that one, but a calorie is a calorie when it comes to fat. Now the nutrients are another story completely which is why it can't be an everyday occurrence.

Hooray to you for writing it down and counting those calories. Tomorrow that banana will probably seem a lot more appealing when you realize later on today how many fewer calories you have left to spare for your lunch and dinner choices.

Thank god for Jason!!! I need it today since i have a confession, I went to McD's this morning because i was starving, yes i had a banana on me but couldn't/wouldn't eat it. i had a breakfast sandwich and hashbrown. but i went on their site and got the nutritional info so i could add it to my food planner, i added it! thats a first usually i would just deny it, not add it but mentally keep note. baby steps for this girl! just thought i would share my snafoo on the positive note, i have all morning to work it off!!

NEW JASON'S FRIDAY CHALLENGE!!!

For those of you brave enough to try the first one... take a look at this one! There have been some changes... LOL

150 dips
150 knees down push ups
150 squats
150 crunches
10 minutes of wall sits (1minute on, 1 minute rest)

If you don't know what it is look it up on the internet.

Message direct from Jason:

"You can call this the PUNISHER. It will hurt more the second day after than it does the first. Do this for completion, not for time.

Your friends are going to hate me."

This one is going to be so much fun!!! Beginners cut it in half!

Good luck!!!!!

MICHELLE...YOU LOST 10...yes 10 inches on your hips. Thats incredible!

Rebecca - keep it up. That exercise will help you. I like Lori's suggestion of not stepping on the scale every week. I know when I get obsessive my DH forbids me because I get all died up in the swing of pounds up and down during the day.

Lori - you're a trooper. This rest will heal your poor broken buns and then you'll be up and running again.

Cat/Judie - DH and I have press passes so we can sit anywere we want at the games. I love that. We also get to go around the locker rooms and all that. Let me tell you that those hockey player locker rooms are the WORST smelling places that I've ever been. Bleah. Stinky athletes. :)

We are debating on going to Vancouver BC for a Canucks/Red Wings game. Its part of a "sport tour" for our hockey league. Its a little spendy, but right around our anniversary. We just might splurge a little.

I am SOOOOO excited for the weekend. I need one. I'm out most of the day tomorrow traveling for work so I won't be around much...Pink Peeps - have a GREAT weekend!

I love hockey too! My 11 year old son is going to a MN Wild game on Saturday. I am so jealous. My brother used to have season tickets, which was cool because he'd give me tickets for my birthday.

Thank goodness tomorrow is friday!!! The weekend is almost here....although we have a very busy weekend planned. I could really use some downtime.

Anna,

The VP at my work has season tix to the SJ Sharks and seats are awesome (center ice, 20 rows back). I got to go to 2 games (only paid face value) and there were great and very exciting. Can't wait to go back to another game.

Rebecca,

That is EXACTLY why for almost 6 months I only weighed in every two weeks. I have weighed this BL challenge once a week but only because I have a better handle on my program. I have to tell you that I prefer every two weeks!

It takes a huge amount of stress off of you when all you have to be concerned about is making the right choices and not about what the scale says every week. If you make the right choices the weight will come off automatically.

I can definately relate to the starting over thing too. I am going through that right now with my injury. I can't believe the difference only one week has made... of course the injury hasn't helped but I have probably set myself back at least a month strength wise! It is insane!

Thank you everyone for your support!

Thanks for the input-seems you all are thinking along the same lines that I was. I guess I just wanted a second opinion!

Lori, thanks for asking and yes, I'm hanging in there. I got started exercising again this week (with a 2 week lapse before that) and I have to tell you that I really can tell a difference. I almost feel like I'm starting all over again because I can tell that I've lost quite a bit of muscle just in that short amount of time. When I was going over my son's health lessons a while back, I remember reading that if you don't exercise regularly, you can lose 1% of your muscle every day. After all of this, I can totally believe it. But it's just that much more of a challenge to get it back and then surpass! Everything seems to be going well so far. I'm still sticking to my plan of not weighing until March 1 though. It seems to be easier for some reason, not having to worry so much about what the scales are going to say.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold though. I hope it's just a sore throat that will be gone in the morning but I have to wonder.....

Anywho, you guys are doing so great! I'm here with you in cyber-spirit! emoticon

Becky - don't you worry about exercise...get better first. do leg lifts if you want to move a bit...

Rebecca - I think Pandora's advice is good. I'd probably count it toward the day before...even if I'd gone over because then I'd get to wake up fresh to a new day with zero calories. LOL...kind of defeats the cumulative effect argument.

Lori - you are such a trooper. I can't wait to get back to school. I'm wanting an MBA...maybe law degree...still haven't decided, but I know I'll be going for one of them.

Cat - agreed. Hockey rocks my world.

Rebecca, It's funny that you would ask that. I remember way back in my Weight Watchers days someone asking our group leader something like that and she said if it was her, she would put it on the previous day if she still had the points (calories) to spare, or on the next day if she was out of points (calories) already. They used to tell people who had problems running out of points (calories) before dinner to start their "day" with dinner, meaning when calculating your calorie intake for the "day" start with the dinner the night before and end with lunch the day after. It all works out the same as long as you stay within your calories. It's all cumulative.

I have a question for you guys. What if you have a literal midnight snack-which day would you record it for? The calendar date, or the day that hasn't ended yet because you obviously haven't went to bed since you're still up snacking at midnight? I went with the latter because I feel like a day doesn't end until I've went to bed and gotten up again, but that's just. I know, leave it to me to come up with the wierd stuff! lol

I am off for my fist day back at work this week, one thing I have learned, soft easy to swallow food, is not very nutritional!
My fitness minutes for this month is 0! I must get better soon before I start to gain again!

I went to another hockey game tonight. It was at the exact same time as a Trailblazer b-ball game...traffic was a nightmare...pouring rain. DH and I jumped the train and parked downtown to get to the coliseum where the Winterhawks (hockey) play. They stunk! It was a serious buns kicking...we played Vancouver - they are really good.

**sigh*** I splurged a little and warmed up with hot cocoa....but worked it off running through the rain and screaming myself hoarse from all the bad shots they made tonight.

Ang - I know what you mean....that was me and my plateau for the last month then FINALLY this past week I went down. Don't give up! I know you won't but really don't because your body will totally catch up to everything you are doing.

Cathy - I hope you are feeling better soon. We've got sick ones on our team this week...chicken noodle and lots of water! Watch the sodium :)

Judie - glad to hear it was just a twist. And here I was thinking you were out for the week...sheesh...I should have known better. :)

Chatts - Way to motivate!

Don't forget to visit someone's page today, tomorrow, the next day...get to know your teammates!!!

ANGKENNEY - don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat. if your doing strength exercises then you could be gaining muscle. but like lori says, muscle burns fat so just keep on doing what your doing.

JUDIE - glad to hear that your ankle is better, isn't ALLEY a sweetheart for remembering? i read that posting but totally forgot.

i hope everybody had a fantastic day. i stayed within range for the 2nd time in a row...whooohooo! i need to figure out a way to get more fiber, any suggestions?

Brandon - WAY funny!! i read that at work and was laughing by myself, my coworkers think i'm nuts!!

GO PINK!!! THIS IS OUR WEEK!

Thanks for asking Anna. I didn't sprain my ankle...I only twisted it. It was sore enough that I took two days off from exercising because I didn't want to make it worse. But it was totally feeling good enough for me to get back to working out today. So far so good, I should be able to do another workout tomorrow.

Yeah Brandon....Way to go!!! Your story is so funny! The workout I finally made it all the way through is a workout I've been doing twice a week for 3 weeks. Part of the problem is I'm not very coordinated.

lw - 215
cw - 215.2

LOL - you guys are so funny.

First, Judie - aren't you on the injured list with your ankle? How are you doing a 60 minute workout???

Brandon - funny story...of course I'd love to see your DH doing the bootcamp....I made mine try cardio cabaret. FUNNY.

Lori - hang in there. You are such a trooper...this is teaching you patience and errr...something else that I'm sure is really worthwhile. :)

Becky - hows that strep throat going?

Chatts - I hear you on the calves. Mine won't go away. I didn't add inches, but they seem to think they need to be the largest part of my bod.

GRACE! Whoohoo...good to see your face! I'm sorry about your computer! I'm glad you didn't just give up on us!!!

Serena - great motivation. I feel the same way...Even 5 years ago I was about 15 pounds down from where I am right now. If only I'd not given up at that point! Instead I gained another 55 pounds and had to start from a much harder place. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Well done Judie!

I just broke the exercise slump with a 45 minute Boot Camp workout, and not a chance I could keep up the whole time! lol There were at least 3 times I just paused the video and lay on the floor dripping sweat and panting! My husband came down and said "oh yeah, that looks like a REAL tough workout!" ;)

But at least I got off my ar$e and did it! I feel SO much better for it too!

I am so excited! I just completed an entire 60 minute Firm workout video and I kept up with the workout the whole time! I didn't slow down or have to stop because I was getting tired or confused with what I was supposed to be doing!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Here are a couple tips for keeping your computers safer....nothing is perfect, but these things will help:
-Make sure your anitvirus is current!
-Run your antivirus software regularly to scan for virus's and spyware
-If you're running windows, check mircosoft's website for updates. They often have patches to help protect your computer.

I have a 15 year old daughter, and I monitor her myspace use. She has to ask permission to go on, and I can check her page when I want to. After having to replace our computer my hubby added a program that blocks downloads without a password.

I have a myspace account as well as my son. I think we've had one virus since then but that was before I forbid my son to download anything on my computer. Once the downloading stopped the virus' stopped. He's 16 but I still monitor his space for cussing, etc.

Thanks for answering my question Lori, I was getting worried!

Brandon - I feel for you on the exercise. I am still on the injured reserve list and I am not happy about it. Just commit to move a little extra each day until you get back in the groove.

Grace - I have a 14 year old boy... and let's just say he gave my pc a sexually transmitted virus!!! Pop up Hell!!!! I could have killed him. We are still paying for that little mistake... needless to say he has NO privileges right now! LOL

Serena - I couldn't agree with you more. It takes a HUGE amount of courage to still come on and post even when we are not doing well so KUDOS to all of you who are still with us even when things aren't going according to plan!

Deanna - I suffered the SAME thing. My calves got HUGE because of all the walking and cardio I was doing. Don't slow down though... it will eventually even out. It will take a little while but it will redistribute more evenly as you go. Just think of it this way... the more muscle you have the more calories you are burning when you exercise!!!

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Hi all, just thought I would check in...
Having a bit of a wobbly time of it at the moment with my exerise. My food is still ok, but I am having trouble otherwise. I will blog about it rather than moan on the board!

Congrats to all of you who lost and maintained, but especially to those of you who gained and came back to try again this week - it is easy to share our successes, but setbacks are much harder to admit to, so congratulations on sticking it out and being brave enough to be honest!

Good luck for the rest of the week!

PS Can I also get an extra toe on each foot to go please??

Hi everyone,
wanted to stop by and tell everyone I am sorry for disappearing. It's been a crazy week and a half. My internet was down for 6 days because of a bad storm knocking down equipment. My computer is also all messed up because I was silly enough to let my 14 year old get a myspace account. I'm at a friends right now using his computer. Mine is still usable but barely....shuts down, tons of errors etc. It has been horrible not being able to get on here...I NEED the trackers! At least I have my internet back now so I am going to try and track food for a week and then print it out and hopefully get my computer fixed soon.
Anyway I'm thinking about you guys and wishes you all the best of luck!!!!!!!

NJNOON, A gain is hard, but it's so great that you're not just giving up. If I could go back to my early twenties when I weighed about 165 pounds less than I do now, I would tell myself the secret is to never give up. So what if you gain a couple of pounds. If you get right back on your plan, those will be gone in no time along with more. If, on the other hand, you just decide you're not going to work it 'cause you're gaining, or it's too hard, or you don't have the time or energy, or whatever the excuse, you could wake up in a few years and find that you've gained another 20, 50 or even 100 pounds or more. Be proud of yourself for getting back on plan and don't ... ever ... give ... up! You can do this!

Bust: beg. 57 current 54.5 = -2.5 inches
Waist: beg. 54 current 53 = -1 inch
Hips: beg. 60 current 59.5 = -.5 inch

all inches lost from whole body = 9.5 inches!!!

why did i gain 1 inch in my calves?? believe me, their big enough, i don't need to build muscle!! will this stop??

Gain 1.8.

I have been absent on sparkpeople and its starting to show on the scale...I almost wasn't going to post because of the gain but I've got to stick with this and continue trying to move forward and lose some weight. On the brightside, I completed a 5K on Sunday and feel good about that...I'm slow but I finished.

Congrats on all the successes...you are all an inspiration!

Just got back from the Dr's, I have strep throat! The only part of the visit I enjoyed was getting on the scale! I had just been in on the 15th for my girly appointment and have lost 11 pounds since my last visit.
What a change in me, I actually wanted to get on the scale!
My pills are 875mg (amoxicillin), does that seem high to you?

Sarah, to get the "Lost 20 Pounds" and other similar icons, you will need to edit your SparkPage. Click on the "Change Profile Image" link-that's the picture that shows up with all of your messages. When the window opens, look on the right side and you'll see something like "Choose from Our Success Gallery" or something like that. Then you can pick what you want!!

I use to know somebody that had an extra toe it looked weird but you get use to it. It never bothered him. He had six toes on each foot. So I will take to extra toe to get rid of 50 pounds like that.

Happy FAT TUESDAY! Woohoo...are you all wearing your Mardi Gras beads?

I didn't do my measurements last night. Bad me. I will do them today...but not right now as I'm sitting in a conference at work. Shhhhh...nobody knows I'm tip tapping to all you Pink Peeps. Muwahahahaha.

Ok...gotta run. Be back later!

Yeah!!!!! I got to work out a bit this morning... not much... just light light weights for triceps and deltoids and only 15 minutes cardio at 0 resistance but It still counts!!!!

I can't believe what a difference that makes in my attitude! No more pouting!

Right now I would take two extra toes!

Thanks Lori for that, I am just not feeling well, and I am a big baby when I am sick.

I forgot to weigh in on a couple of posts below- my thoughts are: (1) no way would I add a toe; and (2) I certainly wouldn't let it bother you that no one is noticing your weight loss. I would actually take that as a sign of respect! I may be in the minority here, but I absolutely hate it when people point out when I'm losing weight (especially strangers). For example, it is not as though I would walk up to someone and point out that I noticed their vocabulary had markedly improved.

:-)

Have a great week.

Loss- 2 lbs

Current Measurements:
Bust 49 (started at 51)
Waist 44 (started at 48)
Hips 52 (started at 53)

Goal- back on eating plan 100%. I'd like to be in the 240s by Valentines so I need to kick it up a couple of notches. Superbowl and work out of town led to the limited loss with 2 days over calorie recommendations. Keep up the great work everyone!

Hey pink team! I am still hanging in here. Life is crazy and I am doing my best to just get through each day. My sister and I used to have American Idol nights where we would meet up at each other's houses for dinner and tv. Well, we've now decided to come an hour earlier and work out for that hour beforehand. I am pumped to have someone to help motivate each other.

I am down 1 pound again this week.

Happy Monday Pink Shrinkers!

Just wanted to share a funny tidbit that I read in the Feb. issue of fitness magazine. Did you know that 85% of women would rather have an extra toe than 50 extra pounds?!?!

I laughed until I cried when I read that, dunno why but I did.

As much as I would LOVE to weigh 50 pounds less, I don't know that I would trade my 50 pounds for an extra toe!

I love weigh in day! I love seeing everyone's progress. Those measurements are fabulous.

Becky - you can have nachos...in moderation! Thats one thing I learned...use veggie/soy cheese or light cheese...use baked chips - not tortillas...have it as a side dish instead of the main dish...lots of options to keep it in your diet!

Judie - bummer about your ankle! Keep it safe and let it heal.

Lori - you are just like a teen...all grumpy about your grounding. LOL. Can you do yoga to help relieve stress and still get a workout?

I'm off to the gym now...will do 30-45 minutes on the elliptical and lift weights tonight. I'll take my measurements when I get back and have showered.

BTW...have you gone to visit someone's page yet today???

Here is the list of our current Pink Team members...and there are a few that are "honorary" that aren't included in here (Rhilliard, Snowwhite, etc.)

Looks like I will be joining Lori on the bench for a couple of days. I twisted my ankle! Its not super bad, but the muscle is a little tender. I think I should give it a day or two before I try any aerobics. Guess I'll be just doing the strentgh training.

Becky!!!! That is awesome! What do you mean not coming off quickly! If I recall correctly your starting weight for this challenge was 278 or so, yes? Hmmmmmm almost ten pounds down in five weeks... and SIX inches gone!!!!

THAT IS PHENOMENAL!!!!!

HOMEWORK TIME!!! Next time you are at the gym or in a sporting goods store... go pick up a ten pound weight and tell me how it feels to hold that in your hands!!! DO IT!!! That is almost how much you have lost! Then try to tell me "only!" It will really put things into perspective!

Rebecca! Glad to see you are getting the break from the scale! We all need that once in a while! Hang in there! YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!

I was not going to put in my measurements, I am feeling like it is not moving off fast enough.

Here they are

Then:
Bust 55
Waist 52
Hips 58

Now:
Bust 53.5
Waist 49.5
Hips 56.5

I am not feeling well today and just do not want to diet. I would love some chips and nacho cheese, but will refrain.

Oh geez you guys! I'm so proud of you!

It was really hard for me NOT to go weigh this morning, but as part of my new strategy, I refuse to weigh until March 1. I'm going to give myself an entire month to get readjusted and refocused without looking at the scales. Measurements, sure. But not the scales. Plus, goinga whole month should give me a nice surprise when I finally do hop on there! (well, ok, maybe not HOP but you get the point!)

Congrats to all of the losers/maintainers this week, and for those who had the scale go the wrong way, take heart. It's only temporary and next week should be that much better!

Judie,

It's still broken and I am NOT a happy camper. I have been "grounded" since Wednesday with NO activity of any kind and then this morning all we did was some myofacial release stuff and stretching and I thought I was going to die!

I was amused with this at first but now it is seriously getting on my nerves. I have only been released to do 15 minutes of cardio on the treadmill w/ a 2 minute break halfway through!!!! I can also do upper body strength training but that's it.

I am having to cut my calories by 200 a day also and that is tough since I only eat 1200-1500 a day anyway AND if that weren't bad enough... since I used working out to relieve stress instead of eating lately... now all I want to do is eat everything in site!

I am FRUSTRATED....

Sorry... that was probably WAY more than you wanted to know... but you will learn with me - that if you don't really want to know... don't ask. :) LOL

Sarah - I think some people are affraid to say anything when they notice someone has lost weight. They don't want to offend the person....if they say something then they are implying you still are or you were fat.

Lori - Pack your bags because you have a one way ticket to Onereland! I know you'll be there next week....I am so happy for you!!! How is the BBS?

SCHNOOGLES - Glad you hear you got your meds and you're feeling great!

Anna - The Superbowl sounds like it was a good game to watch.

Personal Goal: Do a better job with eating on the weekends! I committed a blunder on Sunday. I didn't eat anything all day until it was dinner time. So I didn't have all my fruit and veggie servings and I didn't eat enough calories.

Its also time for our mid-challenge measurements. Please post the following:

I forgot to get my measurements this moring...I got up late. I'll get them tomorrow morning. Can't wait to see what they are!

Sarah,

Don't let yourself get down. People who see you frequently aren't going to notice right away. In fact I lost almost 50lbs. before ANYONE at work said something. Look at the tape measure...that is what I do when I feel like that. Take a picture of yourself now and compare it to one before. You will see the difference!

Hi everyone! Well, I feel a tremendous weight lifted off my shoulders today. I met my work deadline last week and things are definitely going to be more relaxed this week! I don't know if it was the stress or just the lack of time to eat too much, but I lost 3 pounds. Yay! Here are my stats:
Previous weight 367.6
Current weight 364.6
Lost 3

Thanks for keeping me motivated and accountable! I hope for huge losses from us all this week!

Hello Pink Shrinkers!

I can't believe that we are half way already!!

LW: 252
CW: 247.6
Pounds lost this week: 4.4! Yay me! :)

Measurements
W: 42
H: 50
Bust: 48

Personal Goal: Complete the team challenge this week, and I feel the need to focus on consistency this week, so my goal is to maintain all of my previous goals for this week, and not to lose any momentum!

I am so chuffed to be under 250! That seems to have been a sticky weight for me over the past year or so. It feels good to be in the 240's...but not good enough to stay here too long!

Good luck to all of you for the week ahead!

Oh yeah...and can I just mention that the Superbowl was a FABULOUS game? I'm not partial to either team, but could it get any more edge of the seat exciting down to the last minute???

Sorry all you Patriot fans! Congrats GIANTS!

By the way...the last two posts from last week - from Chatts and Magnles are good ones to read if you get a chance!

Magnles - I 100% understand your feelings about stiff backs, aching bones and just in general...feeling old in our 30's. I am so excited that you stuck to the treadmill and did a full 60 minutes! Way to go! Seriously...that is something to be proud of!

Chatts - Each day is a new day...each week a new week. This week is YOUR week! You can do this! Start posting on Monday and we'll finish strong in 7 days!

GO PINK!

This part is optional, of course, but keep in mind that its a good way to track (I even track it for you!) progress that is not movement on the scale.

We can do this!

We need some MOTIVATION! Please go visit at least one team member's spark page EACH DAY. We're dropping like flies and I don't want to lose any more people!
