I made my sullen, moody, teenage daughter feel good about herself if only for a little while. If you knew her you would understand what a HUGE thing that is!

This is reaching but what I did today was NOT blow my top at a fellow co-worker who called in sick. I love her dearly but as her boss I get annoyed with the constant "migraines". Even though I didn't feel nice I was nice and told her I hope she feels better and hope to see her tomorrow.

Today I went to my younger daughter's basketball practice and intently watched what was going on for the 90 minutes. I was the only parent there and was extremely impressed with the coach. My daughter sometimes feels like the odd man out on this team so I wrote down everything I saw her do RIGHT and on the way home told her. As parents we have a tendency to give loving constructive criticism to "help" our kids get better at something and sometimes forget to point out all the great things they are doing. By the time we got home she was sitting up straighter, was more engaged, and was genuinely proud of herself for all the good things I said. It rocked!

I forgot to post yesterday!

We found out last Friday that our divsion of the company is closing in six months and we may all be out of a job. I spent yesterday being happy and cheerful, singing stupid songs from the 80's to keep my coworkers cheered up. We ended up laughing a lot which we all needed!

I am a big believer in paying it forward and what that does for your heart and soul. I don't care how down or crappy you feel, try to do something, even something small, to make a postitive impression on those around you and share it here. If you won't pat yourself on the back then let us do it for you!

Today I was walking and passed an obvious homeless person. I slowed down to the point he wondered what I was doing and looked up to see and I smiled widely at him and said hello, how are you. He looked startled and then pleased. He nodded his head and smiled at me and kept walking, but with his head up now, not looking at the ground.

May seem small and silly but things like that can be the world to people. So, what did YOU do?
