I enjoy recycling curbside trash. I walk each morning, and often I find "trash treasures" that I can repair. Recently I collected a box of discarded Christmas ornaments, and I was happy to have them.--- One was a crystal angel that is lovely!

Rejoice in each new day; it is a gift!

I took some thin towels that belonged to my mom, which she never used. I cut them up and sewed the edges (not really good at that) and used the smaller pieces for washcloths.

Left money at home when shopping.
Made wish list.
Thought about what I 'had to have'.
Went back to store and made well thought out purchases.

AJDOVER, I tape my foot for PF, too, but have never thought to use duct tape. emoticon

We used to love Freecycle, but unfortunately it's used as a wish list in our area so I quit visiting the site. I once saw a lady post a list of requests for everything her son would need to move into his own apartment..stove, refrigerator, sofa, bed, dresser, dihes..the list went on and on. It was laughable.

If you give up today, think of how much you'll regret it three months from now when you could be 15-20 pounds lighter.

Thank for these great ideas. I'll add one more.

When I cook chicken in the crock pot, I'll refrigerate the drippings, skim of the fat and add water to the drippings for broth.

I also save the bones from the chicken to boil for more broth. This way I get a lot of broth for soups using just the one chicken.

If you give up today, think of how much you'll regret it three months from now when you could be 15-20 pounds lighter.

I belong to freecycle.org and was able to pick up a big assorted bunch of organic produce for free.
Came home and prepared vegetarian stuffed peppers, cucumber and mini pepper salad, roasted asparagus and have enough large pears for breakfast for three days.
This enabled me to put away some money for a planned trip to Germany to visit family.

Not me, but my BIL
He took an empty pill bottle - the kind the pharmacy gives your prescriptions in. It was tall enough to hold 3 rolls of stamps stacked one atop the other. He cut a slit in it from the lid down to the bottom, just wide enough to let the stamps through. Presto, he has a stamp dispensor and can have rolls for Canadian or US destination, plus a 3rd roll for "whatever" I thought "What a neat idea"

I sprout my own peas, beans and seeds.
Saves a ton of money and bumps up the protein in them.

One of mine is that I cut all our bath towels in half and ran a zigzag stitch along the raw edge. Half a towel dries as well as a whole one and I only have to wash them half as many times as before, saving me time and money, too.
