Something to watch if interested. The city of Portland, Oregon is considering banning wearing of perfume in the city offices. If it goes through it would be added to part of the Human Resources rules along with their dress code etc.

May I post information here about the "green company" I deal with? I don't work for them.

Storing Bananas

Let them ripen on the counter, or if you want them to ripen faster, put them in a paper bag. When they are ripe, if you're not eating them right away, put them into the refrigerator and they will be okay for about 2 weeks.

Vegetable Crisper Hint

To keep vegetables fresh, put a dry sponge in the crisper to help absorb a buildup of moisture. Also, wipe up debris and wipe out dampness frequently.

Keeping Vegetables Fresh

When you put celery sticks or carrots into a zipper bag, add an ice cube or piece of wet paper towel. That will keep them moist and fresh.

I have found that Bio Kleen Handwashing Soap works well. I have gotten it at Whole Foods & Fry's. Trader Joe's handwashing soap cuts the grease a little better, though and is almost half the price.

If anybody is having trouble with natural dishwasher soaps not dissolving or cleaning the dishes, try turning up the heat on your water heater. My soap wasn't dissolving until I figured that out.

Removing scents from clothing can be done by soaking them in baking soda. Just put them in a tub of water and sprinkle a cup or so of baking soda. You can also try adding vinegar to your wash to remove scents and soften your clothes. Some people use powdered milk to soak in also.

I have just started using the Seventh Generation dish washing detergent for both hand washing and the automatic for the dish wahser. Both seem to work well for me.

I am wondering if anyone has a line on a less toxic or non-toxic dishwasher detergent.
