Hi team!
I am going to start the DECEMBER chat so it will be available.

We are still going to Fort Wayne five days a week. Yesterday's trip was a bit treacherous.
Yesterday, we left home ten minutes early with a "Winter Storm Watch" to head to the RAD center. It began sprinkling rain mixed with snow right away. We turned on the radio to learn that the "Watch" was cancelled and that we were now under a "Warning." About 5 miles out, it started sleeting. We got there on time as it was turning to outright snow. When we left, we had to drive about 40 miles an hour. There were a few crazy drivers trying to pass. But most were driving as we were. We saw four vehicles in the ditch.

At supper time, I noticed an evergreen tree that we can see out our dining room window was heavily laden with snow. It is right next to our storage shed. About an hour later, it fell. It is hard to tell if the shed might be damaged.

I used old candles for my Advent candles at home, as they are pricey.
I am going to try to return the ones I bought. I gave each of our girls a set.

Just returned from my PT eval. Insurance is slowing things down. I need ultrasound treatments to my hips, but so far insurance hasn't okayed it. Depending on how quickly the insurance responds, we hope to do it Friday morning. My schedule is tight for appointments because I am still going for radiation.

Joe, my therapist did not have a whole lot of info from the doctor. He figured out quickly that I have spinal stenosis and scoliosis. He was very concerned that the scoliosis was causing problems with my ribs which can effect my heart and lungs. I have believed this to be the case for years - but my doctors don't seem to agree. EXcept perhaps the spine surgeon I saw in 2004. At that point, he did not think surgery would benefit me.

I have a lot of problems with my right leg giving out without warning & without any pain. Joe said this sounds like nerve impingement. I am right handed, but my right leg is considerably weaker than the left. Joe did give me an exercise program to strengthen my abs, low back and my legs. Some of these exercises are new to me.

To buy Advent Candles. When I was a kid, we were the weird church and the weird family that lit candles and started preparing for Christmas right after Thanksgiving. I am from a German family. This was a Lutheran tradition, and our church was an off-shoot of the Lutherans. Eventually, it seems most denominations do the same & you can buy special candles. Both of my daughters are home this weekend, so I am going to buy them for early Christmas gifts - too keep this old family tradition alive.

I hope everybody is well enough to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Hi there,

Nola, I am so glad that you had such a pleasant holiday and have your shopping under control. I had a wonderful holiday, but this shopping thing isn't close to being done. Oh well, I do have a start and a lot of help, so I will get there.

I am having an outpouring of pain from my lower back so we scheduled injections for 3 Tuesdays in a row. I am busy this week with an appointment with my eye doc and another with my pain doc. I am going to be missing lots of school this month, but I have to do what I have to do. I am noticing my vision getting more and more awkward, so I want to know if this is cataracts that need attention. If so, I was avoiding any other issues for my body until it dawned on me how much I am working to try and read--and reading is what I do. It is time to take care of whatever this is.

We have spent most of the weekend dealing with my older son's car--so tomorrow, they are going to replace the fuel pump. I sure hope this takes care of the problem--the guys have worked together and tried everything leading up to it. They also went together and bought pizza for dinner tonight--I still eat pizza once in a chile. It is nice to see my sons doing things together as they grow up. That is how this holiday has been and I have enjoyed it greatly.

I hope that you are all doing well--for your self and with others. Take care!
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

I had a wonderful emoticon Day with friends and spent a little time with my son who was here with his BIL to do some shopping. I have finished my Christmas gift purchases and now just a few in the mail and I can relax. My breathing is still off due to my vocal cord issues but that is a winter issue I have to deal with. I will be staying indoors more and able to exercise less. The back is doing pretty good after the epidurals emoticon

Happy Thanksgiving!!
The ham and turkey are both in the oven. I am less prepared for this holiday than any ever--but I am counting on the housefull of young adults to help with everything. My back started aching seriously yesterday, after I saw my back doctor. She knew before me and showed me where it was off--and we scheduled 3 weeks of injections to get it back into check. I may need these injections every 2-3 months for the rest of my life, but if they keep me up and going, so be it. It is interesting how much more determined this wonderful lady doctor is at giving me respite from ongoing, constant pain. I am so happy that she always believes me and that she searches for a way to give me peace. I scheduled an appointment with my eye doctor because it is time to address these cataracts in a bit more detail. I no longer drive at night ever because of the lights and reading has become so much work I do not enjoy it any more. Reading is what I do and I cannot keep doing it as a chore. Anyway, they got me in on Tuesday, so with my appointments and surgeries coming in December, I will be missing at least two half days from work a week until Christmas. I am guessing that the evil woman I work for will not be kind, but I am going to manage it. O shared what she has been doing to me lately with a couple of my doctors and they both recommended that I take some serious action, one a lawyer and the other a grievance. She has beent elling the rest of the staff that the reason that we are short staffed is because i "make too much money." Hmm, I am the longest employed staff member in our building with the highest level of education except for her EdD. I am where I am at on the pay scale that anyone can access--so her comments are way out of line. We don't have enough help because of the federal and state cuts in the Title 1 budget. I am going to do something about this as soon as I find out what my eye doctor says on Tuesday. I am going to schedule an appointment with our HR guy and tell him everything. She has created a hostile work environment for me and I am sick of dealing with her. Nothing seems to make this better and maybe my husband is right in his thinking that I intimidate her with my passion for my job, my willingness to do whatever is needed to help my children and my school, and my ability to work with others--and it makes her feel insecure that I am around. Enough of the personal assaults, she needs to get some serious help and I am going to do my best to help her to do that.

Anyway, it is Thanksgiving and time to let that go for the weekend. My reading cart came--and since the custodian delivered it unassembled, my husband said that he would come to school this weekend and put it together for me to use next week. I am certainly giving thanks for that grant coming through. I am also giving thanks for my National Boards renewal being successful. I have again broken new ground in our district by doing this--the other teacher who was eligible didn't try. I am equally glad for the classes that I am taking that are giving me far too much to do in my small amount of free time. I have 5 projects to complete in the next two weeks. Arghhhh. I am hoping to get most of that out of the way this week and continue shopping online as much as I can. I am also going to go do a layaway next week--that makes storing things a lot easier for keeping secrets.

My family is better off this year than it has been in a while. My kids all have jobs and are working and that is a true blessing. I understand that jobs are still a problem for many, but after so long with more than one of them being without work, we are thankful for this. It is so much better for them to be working. We are also giving thanks for so many of them being in school. college right now. I am totally surprised that one of my boys is in school, we never guessed that he would choose education as a choice after high school, Praise be to God.

I hope that you all can find the way you are doing better this year as well. To top it off, my son brought me a beautiful Christmas cactus when he got home from work last night. I sure love these--and haven't had one in a long time. I am going to enjoy it, each and every bloom. KIds kind of took the place of plants in my life, but it is a hobby that I would like to get back to after I finish my classes next semester. They sure make a home a better place.

I am wishing each of you the best. I hope to hear how your first week back at work half days has been, Diana. Emily, you do seem to be a regular mountain girl with all of the parts of tradition and love in your life. Linda, I am so sorry for the ordeal of the radiation that you are going through.

Frankie wants either breakfast or loving here--this little pug is such a hoot with our big basset hounds. I think I will leave you all with my best wishes for a wonderful day.
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Hi all,
First off, Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Be safe - all those who are traveling.
I made reservations for mom and I. I did make some pumpkin cranberry bread for my Thanksgiving flavors fix. I do not have any other plans except to put up Christmas decor. I refuse to shop this weekend unless it is late afternoon Saturday or Sunday.

Linda, hope you feel better and enjoy the holiday some. Homesick pooches don't sound like fun. Nola-glad your epidural is working. I know there is some stomach flu going around-hope that's not what you've got Sylvia.

Take care everyone and have a good weekend! Diana

I have been trying to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to our team mates that are active. I hope I didn't miss any body.

Our one son-n-l is to start a re-training program on Monday - that should lead to being employable again. It was scheduled several times in the past. It ran out of money once. Then didn't have enough students to have the class a couple times. Hopefully it is a go this time. He is so excited.

We are currently dog-sitting for a family pet. He hasn't eaten in about 18 hours. This could be a challenge. It is one thing to kill a plant. But what do you do if a dog gets sick on Thanksgiving? ? ? Hopefully a visit from a cousin of his children will cure him. You can tell he is morning the kids.

Hi OALB Friends,

Go to see so many of you stop by during the weekend.

I am up because I am aching again. I want to head back to bed soon, so I will keep this short.
My radiation side effects have lifted after having two days off. I only have three treatments this week because of the holiday. This holiday has hit at a really good time in my radiation schedule. I think it will make it more tolerable - not that it is horrible. Just uncomfortable.

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you. emoticon

Hi all,

It turned out that the police investigation turned up a 13 year old who did the phone calling to the schools leaving the threats that people would be killed that disrupted our Veterans Day program. At 13, you would think that if they are capable of making those calls that they would understand the consequences. This is a class D felony and I guess that being a minor doesn't really protect you from the consequences to your action. A lot could have happened because of those calls. I will let you know what ends up happening in all of this.

I had a more difficult week last week than I expected. One day ran into another and I am pretty worn out. Part of the problem is that I have been fighting off a bug for about 5 days straight. I did a close look at my daily feedback pages here and realized that I haven't been eating enough. I have done that intentionally to lose weight in my long, badly managed life of weight loss and it never works well and it explains the weight loss I had at the doctor's office on Friday. I have to work hard to manage salt for the next couple of weeks because if my blood pressure doesn't come back down, I will be starting on BP meds again.

3 day work week, plenty to do at home, finishing up my classes, shopping, and a ton of other stuff. Hmm, I need to keep my focus and take care of myself. You wouldn't think this would be so hard. Enjoy your trip, Emily. Linda, best wishes as you deal with the issues from your treatment--I am so sorry for what you have to deal with. Glad to see everyone else here--Have a good week and enjoy the people in your lives while you take care in eating well.

Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Sandra, life just gets in the way of Sparking sometimes. It happens to all of us. I am so glad you were able to stop in for a chat. I hope you find a doctor soon. We may have to change with the new year as DH's insurance will be different. That is a project I am not looking forward to. I am glad the new bed is helping some. Getting a good night sleep when you are in pain is very hard at times. I've never tried an elliptical but when I visit my DD next week she said she would take me to her gym to try one out. I had to smile when you said you were vomited on, brings back memories from my job..people always sharing their germs and worse with me! Don't miss it at all, lol.

Linda, I am sorry that the treatments are starting to have some side effects. I just hope you can weather them with you positive spirit. I am so glad you will have some visit time with your DD when she is here.

Diana, I know you must be happy to be going back to work even if it is half days. You be sure to get up and move each hour. Remember to do what is best for you. With your determination I believe you will make great progress and be done with the walker ASAP!

Nola, my DD knitted me a pair of fingerless gloves to wear when I was on the computer. It really helped, so I suggest finding a pair you can cut the finger tips off, it will keep your hands much warmer. I also keep a share down by my chair. I moved the desk away from the window and being out of the draft and away from the outside wall helped. Sorry you are having trouble with your breathing. My asthma always gets worse when it gets cold.

I am packing my bags for a trip back home on Friday. So I may just pop in once more before I go. Busy week ahead trying to get things done.
Hope the pains we all are feeling give us a break for a while.
Hugs!!

Yes, Linda, I did mention to the receptionist on the phone that I was out of meds and what was I to do in the meantime, but she didn't answer me. So I started the process to get in to see the dr and then we bought a new bed which seems to be helping. I am getting by so far on OTC stuff. That's also why the elliptical is so important for me, it keeps me moving and more pain-free except for my darn foot. Get your callous treated, that's a bad place for one. I get them on my big toe joint and outside my little toe too. I never self treat when it comes to feet. Mine are too messed up.

It is cold here today and my computer corner is very chilly. The epidurals seem to be still helping. My breathing is taking a hit today because of the cold. I need to do my speech therapy exercises to make sure the vocal cords keep moving. Hugs to all. Linda, you continue in my thoughts and prayers. emoticon

For different reasons, I ought to set the timer hourly and get up and walk around the house. I haven't been doing enough. I spent to much time in bed. I am not sleeping well. My shoulders have been waking me up every couple of hours.

Sandra,
Good to see you back. Can you call the new doctor's nurse & tell her you are out of meds and really need to see the doc?
You remind me that I should make an appointment with the podiatrist too. I have a callous on the sole of my foot that has come back.

Hi all, I can't believe it's the weekend already. I went to the doctor and they are allowing me to go back to work on Monday-but only half days for 3 weeks. They are afraid I will overdo it (they know me too well!) and also want to start physical therapy. PT will start after Thanksgiving. So I am hoping to be off the walker by the new year. Not sure if that is too soon or not.

Today I had an 8 hour training for tax season. I am definitely going to have to set a clock and get up every hour to walk. I get very stiff and sore if I don't do that.

Linda, sorry to hear the side effects are starting to come. Just remember to take care of yourself. It was cold and windy down here too-had a sprinkle of rain today. We had some snow flakes a week ago-just a trace though. I"m sure it's coming soon.

Have a good Sunday everyone! Diana

I feel like I've been gone a long time. Now the days are dark when I get off work I just want to eat and go to bed. My body thinks the day is over. Today I ended up with a whole day alone and I did my ellitpical and then tried Pilates again. I only made it through the first 4 exercises but that's o.k. If I overdo I can't walk the next day. Last time I used the elliptical I felt great until the next day and then couldn't walk without limping for 3 or 4 days. It's back to the podiatrist I go, but not sure he can help me anymore. I'm between back drs. Had a great one but he moved to Chicago and the new one will review my medical records before she decides if she wants to see me and then they will make me an apt. I'm hoping that's before the end of the year. I am out of pain meds and don't like them anyway so I am hoping the exercise and new bed will do the trick. I hate having a chronic ailment, I get so tired of it. I just want to be fixed and go on with my life. Grrr. I'm also waiting to get into a new pcp as my former one moved too. I didn't like him much anyway so this may be a good thing.

Anyway, after a horrible week ( I even got vomited on, oh joy) it was wonderful to take today for me. I'm so happy I have a short week ahead and time with family. So happy you are still here for me even though I've been remiss about posting.

Good Morning.
It is chilly and windy here. I have seen people on spark talking about snow. Haven't seen any of that.

I am wore out from traveling back and forth to Fort Wayne for my radiation. I am starting to get some of the expected side effects. Including one I had not read about. I am having a lot of swelling of my upper chest - but very little burning.

My daughter from Colorado is coming back next Monday. She is has never traveled back and forth so much in ten years. She had made plans to be here several months ago. She will be celebrating Thanksgiving with her in-laws, but we will see her about half of the time she is here.

It rained so heavy yesterday but today it is just a drizzle and so chilly. My bones are aching. I was in a lot of hip pain last night and even had a nightmare about the pain. The nightmare woke up my DH and he was pretty understanding. I checked my BS and it was ok, so I don't think it was related to that..not sure why I had this one and hope it isn't the start of another round of nightmares.

Sending out hugs and positive thoughts for you all!

Hi all,
Sounds like everyone is busy and the holidays have barely begun. Don't forget during this time to find some "me" time.

I got my flu shot yesterday and a rainy system went through last night so my arthritis is kicking up. I am not very energetic today. It looks like I will head back to work next week and I am ready, but I think I am going to be tired for a couple of weeks.

Tonight is dinner with my new boss from Geneva, Switzerland. Another coworker managed to inviter herself to dinner also so not sure how much I will learn tonight about the new reorganization. With the change in bosses, several of my coworkers are nervous because they spent so much time kissing *** of the former boss and now it's all gone. This is considered a 180 degree change from the previous management philosophy. It is kind of sad to see all the political moves. And I'm not even working!

Better go. I still have a couple of tax update classes to do and tax season is rapidly approaching. I don't think I'm going to manage to get all my projects done before going back to work either. Oh well, they will still be there.

Take care everyone, Diana

Sylvia, I sent you a goodie with a personal message.

Sylvia, you sound so busy. If you need a spark break take one.

I am missing going to the pool right now. I wanted my husband out of the house so I can call my cancer navigator with my questions. I already blogged about them. There are 4 women by myself in my family tree who have breast cancer. I am really concerned about this.

Hi all,

The world seems to be beating me up and last evening, I fought back ending up in a big argument with Floyd that will take a while for both of us to get over. It was pretty rough--I packed a suitcase to go to my son's. I am weary of bearing so much responsibility and I need help in every corner of my life. I keep asking but nobody is listening.

I have thought a lot about my surgery on December 2. I had a D&C with a miscarriage in between Mason and Marissa. It was quite traumatic, about 10 days short of being called something else. I was 4 months along. Anyway, I remember very little, but I was entirely distraught and it is something I cannot forget because of how hard that I--actually we--grieved. It is a painful story because of the way the hospital and medical people handled me and should have been a lawsuit. After sending me home, I delivered the baby at home and then my doc had an OR ordered, but the people in the ER left me in a chair and pushed me out of the way so people couldn't watch me hemorrhaging. I lost so much blood that I went into shock and passed out. My husband came in from parking the car and found me like that--and got me care and then I woke up in maternity, across the hall from the nursery. The doctor was worried about me and all of the blood i lost. I had one transfusion and she wanted to give me another but the insurance company said I could only be there for a 23 observation period. It was tough because I was weak and so heartbroken. I went back to work after a week and people avoided me--now I know it was because I was as white as a sheet of paper. That hurt too because I went back to work to be with people and to have something to do because staying at home and crying wasn't doing me any good or making things better. I cannot remember anything about the procedure in all of that difficulty though.

We had several small glitches on our Veterans Day reading day. The biggest one came early Thursday morning. Some nut case called several of our city schools and told them that somebody was coming to the school and there would be a lot of people get killed. The police put the entire city on lock down. All I could think of when we got the code red notice (we didn't know why we were having it) was about the 20 guest readers I had scheduled to be int he building and all of the veterans and military who were coming for our program. It was annoying because I thought it was another drill. However, they had a list of who to expect, so they were checking people at the door. Three of our guest readers included two police officers and the chief of police. They made it on time and I thanked the chief for keeping us safe.

The program was touching and I handled most of the scheduling glitches gracefully. One made me angry because after our principal and the librarian mentioned that they knew lots of veterans and would get readers, each of them got two people when we needed 20 all together. That left me scrambling, but I got the schedule made and filled in. The only one who didn't come was one of the readers that the principal had gotten. (The other was her husband.) When i went to find out where the guy was, she asked me "Did anyone ask him?" Grr-rr. He had left without reading to the kids. Our school nurse graciously took the spot for me and the class got their reader. I can't believe her--and won't count on her for our next day for "Read Across America" in the spring.

On Tuesday, I see my orthopedic surgeon for the pre-surgical visit on my left hand. I have had a couple of people tell me that this is painful, difficult surgery. I consider anything that doesn't make me an inpatient, as an easy procedure. I guess I will see...

I expect this to be a better week. I had my exam on Thursday. This week we have a major project due and I have a presentation of an article about how reading testing can be used to work with ELL students. I think that compared to last week, it will be a lot easier--but I still have 2 chapters to read and post about as well. I hope to get caught up.

First of all, we have to have some peace in this house and to get past this rare argument. My thinking right now is that a lot of stress is probably the reason for all of this, and quite honestly, we don't have time to misbehave in our busy schedule. I think I need to hurry here and get on with making things better.

Take care everyone!
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Hi everyone! Just stopping by for a quick hi. I am still limiting my computer time but have really missed our chats. I just need to spend less time sitting and more time moving so my post will be short for a while.

It is lightly snowing here now but was in the 70s 2 days ago. Go figure!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Diana is talking about Nashville, Indiana. It is a quaint town in Brown County, near the Brown County State Park. I have fond memories of visiting the town and the park. Take your umbrella and have fun, Diana.

Sylvia,
I have a history of locking my keys in the car. My husband finally installed a keyless entry system on my car door. It works wonders. The dealer painted it to match the car.

Life is getting back to normal, slowly. I really need to get back to my exercise to get my back and hip in better shape. I am beginning to feel the results of not being in regular exercise. My muscles know the difference, but so do the joints. Getting the steroid injection for the bursitis happened just at the right time and has been considerable help.

Have a good week team.

Hi everyone,

Welcome back Linda. I am so sorry for all that you have been through and I hope that you were able to enjoy the memories and love of your family being nearby.

I saw the surgeon today and I will be having surgery on December 2 to remove the polyps. It is a fairly simple procedure next to the umpteen that I have had, but she reminded me of the issues with surgery. She also seemed a bit taken back by the fact that I didn't have any questions about this but after the time leading up to this and all of the information I have gotten from my doctor and found out online, I don't have anything else to ask.

Today has been one of those lessons in futility topped off by the fact that one of my sons lost the spare keys to our jeep and the other one locked the other set in it. I am thinking that things could go better tomorrow. A lot went on as I was trying to leave work to go to my doctor's appointment and everyone had questions about the reading day on Thursday. The story behind that is that certain other staff members didn't do their jobs and now I am trying to fill in the blanks.

OK, I have to get back to studying for my exam on Thursday. It requires a bit of time and organization.

Take care each and every one of you. I hope that your excursion was fun today, Diana and that it was a good change of pace!!

Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Hi all,
Linda and Sylvia, glad you can both drop in for just a moment. Definitely two busy people. One of the surprising things I heard last December were the doctors were always busy at the end of the year because people had met their deductibles and scheduled things then. I never had thought about that when scheduling-just did them when needed.

Happy Anniversary Sylvia. Linda, glad you are doing ok. I'm glad you aren't too overwhelmed with everything that has happened. I am in a waiting mode-waiting to heal, waiting to get back to exercising, waiting to go back to losing weight, waiting to go back to work. It's ok, but a little boring right now. On that note, if the weather isn't raining, I'm going to try to head down to Brown County and roam the shops tomarrow. Not sure how long I'll last, but I need an outing. This is the last day it's supposed to be in the upper 60s so I can't put it off either.

Not much else going on here. Hope you all have a good week! Diana

Good Evening Team! emoticon
I am sitting here sipping caffeine free green tea. I know some of you have been chatting long enough to remember how I am with my green tea.

Yes, we just buried my mother on Saturday. I truly believe that her passing, at well over 88 years of age, was a blessing for her. My Colorado daughter is nearing the Denver Airport as I type. I will probably blog about my children soon.

And, yes, I am still going to radiation. 6 days finished. At least 24 to go. As I learned today, the doctor may add on more days if I don't have problems with burns, So far, so good. I know that after I complete all the treatments and start taking the pills in December, I will consider myself cured. And, I will fight like a girl.

Tomorrow, we have some errands to run related to my mother's belongings. Beginning Wednesday, I can realistically get back to my exercise routine.

Hi all,

It's been a quiet weekend here, but not in my world. I have a lot to accomplish for work and my classes and little seems to be going right from other sources. The university has an online part for each of our classes and this site has a place where we can get and print our own materials, submit our assignments, and any number of other things. One of my classes simply disappeared fromt he site. I called their help line and they told me that the only one who could have done that was my instructor. I emailed her and of course, she didn't do it. I called them back and they cannot do anything because the real IT people aren't in until Monday. Great--I had 4 assignments to post. I am glad that our professor is as understanding and fair as she is. I know that she will be fine with me getting to it. However, we also have an exam on Thursday and I keep avoiding the study guide. I need to quit that. I know better.

It is simply bizarre that November is already a week old. I do not seem to feel like we should be this close to holidays already. It seems like I end up all tied up with surgeries and other medical things at this time of the year, as I have for the past five that I can think of. I hope that I can get into the gynecologist surgeon this week and get a schedule set up for these procedures that I need. I see the orthopedic surgeon on Nov. 15 to do the pre-op stuff for my hand. I do not think this is what most people my age do, but maybe that is what makes me so special, ha ha.

I need to stay focused this week and to use my time wisely. I may not be able to post here as much as usual--so forgive me in advance, but my life needs win out over anything online. Take care of yourselves and if I can do anything for anybody--just send me a spark mail.

Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Hi everyone. I am just peeping in today even tho I am on a mini Spark Break. I am continuing to keep dear Linda and her family in my prayers as well as all our members.
Things are getting calmer here at home so I think I should be back sometime next week.

Sylvia, glad your week has been uneventful. You deserve it after all you have had on your agenda lately!

Hugs, TTYL!

Hi all,

I second what LouAnne said and wish I could do something tangible for Linda, but at this time, all I can do is offer prayers and support as she grieves and celebrates her mother's life.

For a wonderful change, I am having a fairly uneventful week. I had the injections in my left shoulder and my ultrasound on Tuesday afternoon. I am trying to spend my spare time doing homework, but no matter what, I am still behind. This weekend will be a research and typing weekend for me.

I did okay with no Halloween candy here, but my teacher friends are bringing bags of candy to work to get them out of their house and I cannot seem to say no to that stuff. I have a handful that I am giving to my son in the morning since he didn't get to go trick or treating because his horrible mom said at 13, her was too old. Oh my, we took him out to dinner and I bought him a new book. I think he did fine. I generally give stuff like that away, but I am fully aware of what went in my mouth and how many points it cost me. Tomorrow is another day and I can catch up to all of this.

I started giving my first ELL assessment yesterday. I am no newbie to assessments, but the trick is always knowing your test and having a comfortable way of managing the materials. This assessment is called the "WIDA Model," and is one of the best on the market. It has a lot of "stuff" with an interactive story book, a game board and a lot of picture cards besides the manual and the student test booklet and the scripted directions. I can handle that, but I need to do it a few times and learn how to manage the pieces. I am so glad that the ELL teacher at my school and my instructor know that I can handle this and they are letting me do it. However, there is another written report to go with this. I'll get it done this weekend as well. I am really loving learning new things and the activities--I don't like exams and reports because I have already proved that I am capable and can do these activities, it seems a bit redundant. I am not the only one in this class though...

Have a great Thursday--if you have time, could you visit a team member's page and leave some support and a comment or two. We have over 200 members and maybe, just maybe, we could help some of them to be more active to help them get through the holidays. Thanks in advance for that--I think I will make an announcement on this as well. More hands make the task easier!!

Happy fall--take care of yourselves.
Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

I know I'm on a Mini Spark Break I'll be back in a couple or 3 weeks, but before I leave tomorrow morning I want to let you know to pray for Linda, (60SIXTY), and her family. Her Mom passed away early this morning. God Rest her Mom's soul and grant solace to Linda as she goes through this most difficult of times.

No candy here. My sleep study is scheduled as is the vocal PT. I have to do this every fall and usually again in the winter. My third epidural is tomorrow and I dread and look forward to it. Have a great Sparkling day!

Hi all, had a few trick or treaters and a few pieces of candy have touched my lips. But at least it's not a whole bag ful at once. And they do count in the tracker.

Wound vac gone and now on regular bandages. Which keep falling off when I wear something with a waist band. Home health ordered some plastic that should help keep them on and not irritate my skin. I have had the itchies really bad from all the tape/plastic.

Have a great November! Diana

No candy here at all!

Have some things I need to take care of so I may be scarce for a week or so. I am taking a mini Spark Break.

Hi Everyone.......
Hope you all were able to fight off the "Candy Monster" for Halloween. I did except for 1 Reeses Peanut Butter Cup.

I'm still around here checking your posts and blogs, (when I can), but not on much as my 10 minute computer time restriction goes by very fast.

Hope you all have a SPARKTASTIC November.....We'll soon be heading to AZ.

By putting God first in our life, we can all achieve great things.
