Just got my dad to join Sparkpeople. I'll help him on the weekends if he has any questions and to help him with his tracking until he gets the hang of it. He's a writer so I know he'll enjoy blogging.
We have a wellness board at work that I post Sparkpeople articles and inspirational weight loss stories on as well as healthy recipes.
This is a battle and I AM a warrior!
I tell anyone that will listen and some that wont about Sparkpeople

Everytime i find 'good healthy' information, i share it around. i'll post it to facebook, twitter, google+, and let others do with it what they want. knowledge is power, and who knows what will trigger that 'one person' into "today is it. i'm through being sick, tired, unhealthy" etc.
I'm hoping to lead by example again. changing my patterns to show others it can be done. one step at a time.

Everything Happens 4 a reason, even though you may not see that reason immediately.
“Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.” ~Ann Landers http://www.beyondthewillows.
I try and be informative and not pushy. My outlook is more of a health at every size outlook. Eat healthy and move in a healthy manner. It is daunting to realize that only about 5% of people succeed at weight loss and keeping it off but we can all succeed at being healthy no matter what our size. That doesn't mean I'm not working toward weight loss but my focus is more on health than loss. I guess it's one of the reasons that a slow loss doesn't really bother me that much. I try and lead by example but the "movement" part of the health aspect is lacking since school but I do what I can when I can.

I'm a reader...I work in the medical field (research)...and I often harass family, friends and co-workers with literature I find regarding the newest trends and findings in healthcare and research, all the while encouraging folks to try new things. I've recently convinced my family (not living with me) of the benefits of rice noodles and coconut water in their respective diets (except my brother, who is resistant to all things healthful now). My mom and dad are both Type 2 diabetics, so I work with them to ensure they are managing their diabetes as well as possible, managing stress levels, and ensuring the right foods are being eaten (advice only...since my dad is more resistant and does all the grocery shopping). I urge exercise in both, often by giving gifts like pedometers, for birthdays and holidays. I suppose some might see it as obnoxious...but when I am passionate about something, I tend to be infectious.
I work to inspire co-workers with stories of weight loss...the triumphs of one week, and the tragedies of the next, make for great conversation sometimes. Most recently, while attending a team-building and training meeting, I was persistent in my need to get back to my room and then to the hotel gym to exercise. One of my co-workers even commented that my dedication was inspirational. It's always rewarding when you can help people see what a little dedication can do!

Question of the week 5/7 through 5/13
What do you do to help others get healthy?
If You're tired or starting over stop giving up
