Yeah its a great game. I have been seeking out loot on the world map and maxing out my skill tree. The story so far is okay but the characters are people I can not relate to.

I'm making the jump too. Had a few friends who like both Halo and played Borderlands with me, and they said Far Cry 3 was great--so I'll have to go with that. My copy should be here in about a week or so.

Thanks for the review I have been keeping an eye on this one and haven't gone the full way of jumping on board yet. I did think Skyrim/Oblivion were amazing games but the thing that always threw me off about them was the realistic lack of guns. I was corrupted by Fallout (my all time favorite series). So if this is like Skyrim with guns, what else can I say other than perfect fit for me! =D

I have had some good playing time with Far Cry 3 and here is what I think about it so far. The story is that you are Jason Brody, a rich kid that has no worries in the world. Him and his friends skydive onto an island that is run by Pirates. The pirates caputre them and plan to sell them into slavery. Jason escape but not with casuality. His brother is killed in the process by the main antagonist Vaas. Jason then is found be a rebel tribe lead by Vaas sister who want believe him to be the one to defeat the priates. Jason must rescue his friends and at the same time learn skills to lead a rebellion against the priates. This game is an open world first person shooter which some people have said that its like Skyrim but with Guns and its not so far from the truth. The lucious jungle scenery and wild animals the roam freely make it for interesting time. Animals hunt other animals and sometimes you too. Not only do you not want to be spotted by the pirates but you will want to avoid animals hunting you. The game takes some aspects from Assasin Creed series and has what are called radio towers that you must climb and active to get a view the surrounding area. Enemys occupy small posts that if you eliminate will turn into one of your many home bases that you can fast travel to and purchase weapons but becareful becasue if you enemies detech you they can sound the alarms and more pirates will show up. Disable the alarms to keep this from happening. RPG elements are also present whcih you get by doing just about anything. A skill tree will help you unlock special skills that make you much more leathal. Finding artifacts, and loot will keep you busy for hours. Also skinning animals will help you create items to carry more weapons, ammo, money. Also there are some assinations mission yo can do to eliminate the main leader of the group by knifing them. Races and trails to earn the rebels trust is also included. Weapons are plenty ful too.
