Well it also depends on how they do with Battlefield 3. If they get it right they may give MW3 a run for their money.

Yeah, throw battlefield 3 and skyrim into that list of games and you got a busy fall. I still think there will be hordes of people lined up to play CoD though. Kind of like the people that buy Madden every year, without fail.

This is one of the reason I did not buy into a Black Ops knowing that this would be release possibly this year. I am however not to thrilled that the release a new call of duty every year now. That is just putting the franchise in fatigue of just putting something out each year. I have been putting off buying into the call of duty franchise since MW2 because of the time it takes up. I rather focus on all the other great single player games out there that get over looked during this time frame. However Modern Warefare 3 may have some really strong games to go up against this fall and xmas holiday. Batman 2, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3. lets see how that turns out.

While I enjoy Battlefield, I'm not sure it wil appeal to the masses. It is more team and strategy orientated. Kind of like Team Fortress combined with Call of Duty. The thing I enjoy about it is being the support role. I like to fix the tanks, give out med packs, or spot enemies. The maps tend to be larger and the pace much slower. On the same note, I do enjoy Call of Duty's fast foot-on-foot action. While balancing has always been their strong suit, I do love the large weapon selection, upgrades, and perks.

Now, here's another one...Homefront. THQ's boss thinks Homefront can eventually take CoD. The reviews hit it on it's single player mission (which I happened to like a little better than CoD's), but most loved the multi-player. Personally, I think the multiplayer is pretty fun. Large maps, but lots of action, and the ability to choose some nice upgrades, which you have to earn. Unlike kill streaks, you can earn your in game upgrades just by getting some kills or helping out, etc.

I'm hoping Call of Duty raises the bar, but from what my friends said about the last Battlefield, I might have to try it this time around. If I drop my money down, it's CoD.

Yeah, that new zombie map looks sick. I've entered a few contests to win a code for it, so we'll see how it goes.

Speaking of charity, did you see Blizzard raised $800,000 for Make-a-Wish? It was by selling a $10 virtual pet for WoW. Not a mount or anything with abilities, but just a cute little tag along pet. What really gets me is 50% of the revenue from their sales is what makes up the 800k. According to my simple math, that means another $800,000 went into Blizzard's pocket as pure profit. Just goes to show how much cash WoW brings in for these guys.

But back to the two shooters, three if counting Gears, which ones are you all leaning towards? Do you think Battlefield will actually outsell CoD this year?

I'm currently addicted to the Elevation map pack. Not so muchthe online maps, but the Call of the Dead zombie map is HUGE with so much to do. Plus, Gears of War 3 is looking really good this time around. At least from what I've played on the beta, I just find the maps on Gears to be a little bit on the small side. Just my thoughts on it though. I would rather that money went for a charity too, that's a good idea.

Activision has confirmed they will be announcing the next Call of Duty in a couple of weeks. Not sure if they will announce it prior to E3, but a couple of weeks is before E3 on my calendar.

Most folks seem to be guessing it will be Modern Warfare 3. Activision said they are ready to make this the biggest advertising push for any of their games. EA says they are putting $100 million into advertising for Battlefield 3. Personally, I'm hoping the games sell themselves and they can donate some of this money to a worthy cause. But, I know that is a pipe dream.

As for the game, they say it will be the best Call of Duty yet. EA is saying the same about Battlefield (the videos certainly look impressive). Anyone have any feelings on this?
