Okay so I started playing this game recently and I have to admit the puzzles are fun. However does not warrent the 59.99 price tag so I waited to buy it when it was 39.99. The comedy of Wheatly was just what the game needed. I am only pass a couple of levels after waking up Gladious but it seems it will be a fun game none the less

You don't hafta play 1 to play 2, but some of the wonderful things G.L.A.D.O.S. has to say are funnier if you have! This game is awesome, the story mode is hilarious (you'll never look at a potato the same). Two player is great, lots of variety in puzzles too!

Part 1 was a 2 hour game. I heard that you dont have to play the first one to play this one.

Thanks. I will have to look at getting Portal 1 this weekend before I pick up Portal 2. Seems like a fun game.

As far as gameplay goes there is no need to play the first game. However, like others have said, to get the full grasp of the story it would helpful to play the first. That being said, Portal 2 pretty much ignores the ending of the first game and makes everything you accomplished "all for nothing". I've heard that Steam added an additional cutscene to the end of the first game to explain the transition between the two, but if you didn't play that version you won't have that connection.

Speaking of Steam, they have a free demo of the original called Portal: First Slice which will give you a feel for the game.

It's a fantastic buy--highly suggest for players who love an interesting story line, witty humor, and thinking through a game (there isn't so much action as there is a matter of timing your moves).

Also, if you love Stephen Merchant, like I do, definitely get this.

But to get the FULL effect, definitely play the first one before playing the second. There are a lot of inside jokes and "Oh, hey!" moments that will fly by your head otherwise. It will be enjoyable, but more things will make sense rather than seem random.

I do agree, $60 bucks is a bit much for this, but, then again, many games are too expensive for what they give us. Forty bucks is a steal, almost, considering the co-op mode (seriously fun).

I usually don't buy games right when they release, but Gamestop had it on sale this weekend for $40 (Xbox) and my son offered to pay for half, so we got it. It is an excellent game if you like puzzle games and especially if you enjoyed Portal. I've only played the Co-op with my son and had fun working together with him to solve the puzzles. My son has finished the single player game and I will probably start tonight. I tried not to watch too much of the single player so I could solve the puzzles myself, but from what little I did see the environment looks really great and the storyline has the same charm and humor as the original.

From simply a game standpoint, I would say get it. From a financial standpoint, you might want to wait for a good sale.

Also, it doesn't hurt to know that the first DLC pack for the game will be free on all platforms.

Okay so now I have heard many reviews coming back in with 5 out of 5 Stars or a score of over 9.7 out of 10. So has any of our fellow gamers on this team played Portal 2. Do you like it? Do you want to get it? Are you going to wait?
