Yeah I think your right about that Tema. Things that involve working out usually do fall off the shelf. If market properly.

No problem, I hope that it made sense LOL ^..^ The game is fun & I like the variety. I just wish that durring the 30 day challenge, instead of just removing certain activities, that I could substitute them for simmilar ones that are more to my level.
Oh well, did some of it this morning, and it was really fun. Tonight I'll do somemore.

I would be doing great, except that my new meds make me sooo tired LOL (still working out the dosage LOL) - so I've been skiping out on the 30 day challenge.
Also, the heat out here in the dessert is intense. We've been up in the high 90s.
But, I'm hoping to do some tonight when it cools off ^..^
Anyways, They have: Cardio - Boxing (Targets and Heavy Bag), Dancing, and Walking/Running. Upper & Lower Body Strength Training. And Sports - Basketball, Rollerblading, Tennis, and Volleyball.
The Cardio & Sports activities are broken down into smaller training sessions. Each activity and preset workout has "Easy", "Medium", and "Hard" settings.
Along with the Preset Workouts, you can also create your own Custom Workouts using the entire variety of activites.
The 30 day challenge has 20 workout days and 10 rest days (2 days work, 1 day rest). But, like for me, I did day 1, and then skipped like 2 days, but I'll still be at day 2 workout when I sign on today. That way I can go at my own pace & feel good about missing a day or two.
It also has a journal to keep track of nutrition & other activites. The calories burned part is nice, because it's easier to imput it here on the site ^..^
You get great positive reinforcement (not like the Gold's Gym). After you finish a workout they tell you "great job with this", "next time lets work on this" type kinda stuffs. Its nice to have the positive feedback.
They also have trophies which is kinda cool. They have ones for completing day 1 of the challenge, day 10, and day 20. Also, one for finishing the 30 day challenge in 30 days or less. They have ones for completing your journal, and also for reaching milestones in the activiteies, like "1,000 steps in dancing" etc..
They also have where you can compete with a buddy, but I kinda wish they had (like on the WiiFit) where they would have like a single player score tracker to compare with ^..^ - We don't have enough room to play at the same time LOL.
Well, I really like this game, sry this was such a book, but I had to actually explore the game to get this much info, even the site for the game didn't get into much detail ^..^

hm - my strap came with an adjustment piece to make it smaller (however, I won't be needing it for awhile LOL)... but, it also says in the instructions that durring running & strenuous exercises, the strap may slip and need to be readjusted.....so I guess it doesn't mean that the strap doesn't fit, it just means that you're working hard ^..^ :P

Ok, just tried it out last night - LOVE IT!!! - I wish I could take the WII Camping with me so that I could start on the 30 day challenge ^..^
My BF finally bought it for me (I'd had it on reserve, and the guy at GameCrazy kept bugging him about it LOL) So, he says I owe him big now ROFL - he's glad that I'm so into it.
I found another great use for the leg strap thingy. When I go out walking, my pants don't have pockets, so I'm going to use it to hold my cell & stuffs ^..^
Well, I hope that you are all enjoying it. I know I'm totally hooked on the dancing LOL ^..^

My Hubby and I were really interested in this game because of the ability of working out together. We have a question that I'm hoping you all can answer.
Even though we set up as buddies, can we work out individually sometimes and it still tracks it in buddy mode? There are a lot of times we can't work out together, however we like the competition concept for motivation.
Thanks in advance guys.

yeah it is mainly with the running but sometimes with the skating b/c you jump alot. But I have had it as tight as it gets, where I feel the heart beat in my leg lol and it still falls down

humm...that sounds annoying.
Is it JUST on the runnning? Have you tried to adjust how tight it is?
I know, it's a lot of questions, but just seeing if there's something that can be done to help those having trouble with it.

do you have slick or loose pants that you wear it over? I'm wondering if that could be part of the problems people are having.

could also try a regular "fanny pack" or that special fanny pack thing that is designed to hold a Wiimote, but putting the nunchuck in it instead. Not sure how much the different position would affect the readings--but it might be hard on things like squats to have it on your arm. But then I "don't have the game" (got it with the Toys R Us special, but it's going to be for Christmas and not right now).
Or you could go "redneck"---duck tape fixes everything!! (lol---okay, I'm going to bed now!)
On a more serious note, though--good idea on trying the arm and let us know how it turns out!

That's a great deal RockyJay...I would put it on your arm to see...It works according to your movement so it might work
I just bought this game today and I am going to try it before I go to bed. If you go to the Game Stop Web Site they have a list of games where if you trade three you get Active for free. I traded some old Wii games that I haven't played since I bought them. The offer ends on June 7th.
Unfortunately for me the band doesn't fit over my thigh. I'm thinking of putting it high around my arm. Does anyone think it will work?
Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want at the moment.
Success consists of getting up once oftener than you fall down.
I went to the game stop site and did not see this.

GameStop launches women's fitness site GameStop is working to make fitness games even more appealing to women by launching a website designed to show them how they can be healthy at any age.
By Michael Thompson | Last updated May 20, 2009 12:00 PM CTText Size Print this articleLeave a comment One thing that's certain in the gaming industry is that fitness gaming is here to stay. With hits like Wii Fit breaking sales records and gaining approval from health officials, it wasn't any surprise to hear that companies like Electronic Arts were creating their own fitness titles. In fact, with EA Sports Active launching this week, GameStop has launched a new website promoting both the game and women's fitness called Fit at Any Age.
GameStop teamed up with the National Women's Health Resource Center for the site's program, also working with various female celebrities to provide testimonies. Famous women like Marg Helgenberger (of CSI fame), Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl) and Ana Ortiz (Hilda Suarez on Ugly Betty) have conducted interviews for the site, explaining how women can stay fit as they hit various age milestones.
The site includes fitness tips specific to women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s, provided by the Resource Center, and also provides a list of what health screenings and immunizations are important for women through their decades. Of course, there are also various links providing information and pre-ordering options for EA Sports Active on the site, too.
Since recent reports claim that women make up a significant portion of the gaming community these days, marketing games like this towards a female audience makes a great degree of sense, but it's difficult to gauge the sincerity of this campaign.
On one hand, the site definitely shows some simple alternatives for women looking to get and stay fit even if they don't have much free time to exercise (including fitness video games). However, the only game Fit at Any Age is promoting at the moment is EA Sport Active, which makes the site feel like an extensive marketing campaign for a single game. [Ed. note: I'm shocked!] That said, it will be interesting to see if GameStop maintains the site and includes other fitness titles in the future.

I don't recommend it--I've heard that people are getting sore from it (in a good way, but still don't push too hard till you know if it will for you too).

What? I though it was 60 with the strap and leg thing alread in it. I can not see it costing more than that. They have the multi pack so that if you want a friend to join you both can do the workouts togheter.

I want to get it, but the game itself is $60 then you add the $20 for the "multi-pak" (leg strap & other stuffs) - and the multi-pak is already out, but I have to order it separately (another $10)
So, all in total the game will cost me $90!!!! wow - that might be a bit much. (WiiFit only cost me $80 total - for the game & the board)

'EA Sports Active' Impressions Posted by Paul Semel - Monday, May 11, 2009 12:05 PM
You’re fat. You, yes you, in the t-shirt, you are fat. But I have good news for you: EA has a new workout program for the Wii that will whip you into shape.
Well, assuming you don’t give up on it like you did Wii Fit.
Dubbed EA Sports Active, this Wii workout program aims to get gamers into fighting shape, albeit in a way that doesn’t make it a Wii Fit rip off. In fact, you don’t even need a Wii Balance Board to use it, though there are some activities that can employ one if you have your Balance Board handy.
This isn’t the only way that EA Sports Active is differentiating itself from Wii Fit. As we saw from messing around with it at a recent EA event in Los Angeles, Active is actually based around caloric intake -- how many calories you eat, and how many you burn off -- as opposed to Wii Fit, which dealt with your Body Mass Index and balancing abilities.
The game also works on the honor system, since instead of weighing yourself on the Balance Board, it asks you to input your own height and weight (though cheating here does kind of defeat the purpose). You then, every day, input a general idea of what you ate and what physical activities you’ve done, before choosing a workout from a series of exercises and activities, all of which vary in time length and intensity, in order to burn off more calories. These exercises — of which there are twenty-five — not only include cardio workouts but also specific upper and lower body activities.
One, for example, was inline skating, which has you speeding down a hill and doing little jumps and turns, and even a trick or two, all by jumping at the right time. This is monitored through the Wiimote and the nunchuck, with some help from a leg strap that comes with Active that you wrap around your thigh, which you then put the nunchuck into. Active also comes with a giant rubber band-like thing with handles at both ends you can use for stretching exercises and cardio, but since it doesn’t electronically connect to the Wii, you’re once again on your honor.
Well, unless you work out with someone. Active is designed in such a way that you can work out with a friend, though it does also come with an interactive trainer who will give you an encouraging word and a smile when you’ve done well, and be just as gracious when you don’t reach your goals. In other words, Active won’t call you fat and then make your avatar balloon up like Violet Beauregarde just because you had a piece of blueberry pie.
Speaking of your on-screen avatar, what’s weird about Active is that when you first start, and are inputting your height and weight, you can also create a custom character who looks just like you. Or as much as a cartoony version of you can look. Except that, if you actually like the way you look, why would you use Active?
How well EA Sports Active will work -- and whether people will stick with it as long, or longer, than they did Wii Fit -- remains to be seen. Well, at least for a couple weeks, since it’s coming out on May 19. Hopefully, it won’t be long after that before people stop calling you fat.

I preordered mine. I hope it is good! I don;t mind the $60.. I mean I buy way more crappy games for the same price...and they involve me sitting all day!

thanks for the link :) I might put it on my wish list but I think I need to get through all the fitness stuff I have right now first :)
I don't use the wii to workout like I thought I would. I'm using the stuff I bought for DH.... who rarely uses it :-P

It looks pretty interesting. It is not going to be out till like belive May 18th or soemthing like that. Game stop is already pre ordering it. Looks like a lot of hardcore cario and strength training with the strap so far. Go do a google search for EA SPorts Active and they have a demo video. Although the demo video is short it does not show everything.

well, most games are now running $50, so that's only $10 for the strap.
Humm, guess it is out then...just hadn't heard anything from anyone having it yet.

I didn't know if it was out yet or not. I assumed it was because I stopped by a gamestop in our mall and they had a whole endcap display with cases on it.
They tried to sell me on it until I told them I have tons of videos, MFC and Wii Fit. I'm less than impressed with the game based on ads and the official site. I was hoping I was wrong.
You're right though, $60 for a game - even with a little thigh strap - is just way too much.

I've never seen an EA game that I like--ever. So, I'm holding off on this one until I get a bunch of good reviews on it.
I don't think it's out, since I've only heard news of it coming and not news of people actually having it yet.

Has anyone tried this? I haven't bothered because between the Wii fit and MFC, this one doesn't seem to have anything I really want to do.
I'm not a huge fan of either the baseball Wii games nor the running on the Wii fit, and those are the only ones I've seen pictures of. Does anyone else have any other opinions?
