Okay this game is great and all. Very humorous and a good action game with good RPG elements BUT..... I'd wait for a Game of the year addition like Oblivion with the all inclusive package that makes it all for 60 instead I have dropped about 100 bucks so I can go up levels and explore more....seriously it should have been included in the actual game if you wanted us to play it. Sometimes I hate Microsoft. LOL

Play now, make the rules later!

Thanks for the info. I still haven't finished the game! I switched back to Bioshock for a while.

There is a new Update for Fallout 3 Called the Pitt for anyone interested just thought I'd post this

Fallout 3 DLC #2 "The Pitt" Mini-Review
Thursday March 26, 2009

The second Xbox 360 / PC exclusive DLC for Fallout 3 released this week for 800 MS Points ($10). After the somewhat disappointing (but we still liked it) Operation Anchorage DLC, a lot of gamers are pretty skeptical of Bethesda's DLC offerings for Fallout 3. After spending some quality time with The Pitt, I can say pretty confidently that it is better than Operation Anchorage. It has a cooler story, better map, new enemies, tons of new armor, and some slick custom weapons.
The quest starts with a radio broadcast in the extreme north of the Capital Wasteland. There you meet an escaped slave who takes you to the ruins of Pittsburgh where there are rumors that the raider/slaver leader there has found a cure for mutation. To gain entry to the city, you have to become a slave yourself, but you quickly win your freedom after fighting it out in a gladiatorial-style arena (because, you know, every RPG has to have an arena fight somewhere in it). Then you are free to accomplish your true mission - to find the cure. Whether you help the slaves or the slavers, however, is up to you.

All in all, the story in The Pitt only took me around 2 hours. And doing only the story stuff makes the map seem pretty darn small. However, the final Achievement tasks you with finding 100 steel ingots hidden around the Steel Mill section of the map. This mission will take you another 2+ hours the first time because these things are fairly well hidden all around the map and shows that The Pitt is actually quite a lot bigger than just the story stuff would lead you to believe. Collecting the ingots rewards you with custom armor and weapons too, some of which are pretty darn awesome and worth the effort. The new auto-axe melee weapon is also just plain fun to use as well.

My verdict comes down to this. I like the story and missions. I like the new weapons and armor. And I like the fact that it has a fairly distinct look and feel compared to the Capital Wasteland. It does seem a little on the short/small side at first, but The Pitt actually has quite a lot to offer outside of the story and the new stuff you can get makes it worth it in the end. My Recommendation - Buy it.

Thanks for your review of fallout 3. Unfortunately I am so involved with Fable 2 to get anything else right now.

Well, I must say that I love it - and the game play is exactly like oblivion - including the fact that you can turn it into a 3rd person view as you're running around (I don't only because I can't walk in a really strait line, so my character looks funny walking sideways).

But, I've found that you really need the strat guide to make sure you don't miss anything - unlike Fable 2 where the guide is wrong and seems highly missinformed (but, we have the special eddition - so maybe the regular one might be better *shrugs*)

Anyways, Fallout 3 is a fab game and I love playing it.

Ok, I've played it for several hours, and watched my hubby play it for many hours. It's a tough game. The graphics are wonderful, every bit as detailed as you would expect from Bethesda, and, IMHO, the deteriorating settings are a little reminiscent of Resistance.

There are hours and hours of gameplay - tons of quests, but I must warn you: don't hurry through the main quest. Take your time and wander the map to find all quests. Do everything, see everything before you get too deep in the main storyline. You can buy a house in only one town (either the main rickety town, or a high rise built upon the same location.)

My hubby loves it. I hope this doesn't make me sound too much like a girl, but I find it difficult, even on easy. (It doesn't help that my VAT freezes up often and I have to restart from my last save point.) The radiation always has an effect on your character, so you are taking damage constantly. A nuclear wasteland is no place for Sunday strolls!

The more I play Fallout, the more I want to play Oblivion again. I liked wandering around Cyrodiil, picking flowers and making potions, joining every guild and secret society, buying and furnishing houses. I wasted many an hour opening books, looting common areas, and playing persuasion mini-games. This game feels similar, but not as deep or detailed. I find some of the gameplay frustrating at times. It just doesn't hold my attention like Oblivion does. With the ability to customize characters, and choose a multitude of armors and weapons, one thing I would have liked is the ability to see my character more than just when I die (and I die frequently in this game!)

I think it's a great game for some folks, like my husband. I'll need a little more time to see if the game will grow on me. I'm the type of person who plays games to see what the programmers have built into them, and watch the storylines unfold. I love to discover things, experiment with the interactivity, and see what kind of different consequences they've built into the game. If I can get used to the gameplay, then I'll try the game again with wildly differing characters.

Looks like a great game to play just havent really gotten ino the first person shooter genre that much. Iam mostly a 3 person game type play. i like to see around my dud and see where bullets are coming from. I really liked that football game that they made first person. Made you dizzy playing it though. LOl.

I played the game for about an hour last night. Just long enough to exit Vault 101 whilst looking around to see what I could do. It's a very pretty game, and I guess it plays almost Identical to Oblivion, But I never played Oblivion. I do like the V.A.T.S., it really offers some cool options in a firstperson/RPGstyle merger. I am decent at aiming, but not great so it's very helpful to just do a chance roll.

I don't like how the NPCs respond to getting hit/shot. "I just got shot in the head and I look normal". I can't tell if I am hurting them! Luckily I finally saw the HP bar for enemies.

I like the game so far though!

I need to pick up my copy. I preorder last week. I saw some guy on the bus with the insert and a strategy guide. He was really reading it intensely. That guide was huge! it was the size of an old English novel (moby dick or dickens)

I picked up Fable 2 also, but haven't popped it in. I haven't had too much time, but also was afraid I wouldn't be able to stop playing. hehe

So I bought this game the day it was released, and I have yet to play it due to my Fable2 and LilBigPlanet. Which isn't a bad thing, because I only bought it due to the Circuit City Sale.

But I was wondering if anyone has played some of this yet and likes it or not. Make me want to set down Fable 2!
