I have to agree. Did they not have something simlar before. I think with all the success that the two major companies are having with Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchise they think they can do one for the DJ one. I would have to think it would be cheaper to download a virtual dj for free and experiment with your own music.

Beatmania was already a failure. Why make another one?

Meh sounds kinda lame.
Don't get me wrong, I love music games, but I'd rather see them incorporate a keyboard before a turntable.

Activision Building 'DJ Hero?'
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, September 17, 2008 7:59 AM

Rumor of the day: Activision is currently developing DJ Hero, a rhythm game showcasing the world of DJing.

The sources are unnamed, but both Kotaku and MTV say they have spoken to someone close to the matter who confirmed the game, and Activision did copyright the name "DJ Hero" a few months ago, so it seems like a pretty solid rumor--plus, it just makes sense.

According to Kotaku, the game will feature head-to-head "mash-up" battles with Guitar Hero guitars and a unique peripheral described thusly:

In the latest form, the device looks a lot like a simplified DJ Deck. There is a platter for scratching which will act like the strum toggle on a Guitar Hero guitar. Above the platter are three buttons for sampling. The controller also includes a cross fader and a sound effects dial which will act like the whammy bar in Guitar Hero.

The game's music apparently features tons of mash-ups, and has been a nightmare when it comes to licensing issues, as you'd imagine. No official comment from Activision about any of this story, yet.

So what do you think? Are you ready to trade in your fake axe for a fake turntable?
