It's funny to compare Ironman and Batman together. Ironman is one of my favorite Marvel Superheros, and Batman one of my favorite DC heros. I must say, I really enjoyed Ironman, I also enjoyed The Dark Night very much. But they are very different. Ironman is much of Marvel's lighter superhero, and The Dark Night is a prime example of the Miller Batman. Both great movies. However, Batman is more fun to read. Ironman was more fun to watch. In my opinion, at least.

On Downy, he has always been a little weird for my taste, so it's not surprising to see something like this in the article. It is weird to think that you'd need an education to understand the movie, it's enjoyable on multiple levels, and for those of you who have watched it twice, i hear theres alot of subtle things to catch.

yeah that is true. I watched Batman 2 times too. I was a little disppointed with Ironman because we only saw him onscreen for the final battle and that battle with the tanks rolling into the village. Other than that it was just Tony Sparks the whole movie. Not to mention who else is gonig to be a villian for IRonman that is worth filming.

Hahaha well if anything Downey has some balls. He pulled through with a HUGE success for Iron Man. In my opinion a bigger success than Batman considering Iron Man had really no business making as much money as it did and nobody expected it to do that well. Batman had pretty much saturated the market before it even debuted.

That said Batman was awesome. I saw it twice.

But I saw Iron Man 6 times :)

Did you name this thread "Downy Trashes Dark Knight...." simply as flame bait because those quotes seem a lot more like RDJ making fun of himself.

I love movies with intese built it. The more action thats in it the better. I think the dark knight story was great and it did not seem to go over my head like downy. My wife doesnt have a college degree and she understood it better than I did. the message was simple. Batman must be a bad guy to the police, why you ask and its simple. When you chose a side and get close to people they become targets. This movie was batman chosing to work with police instead of acting alone.

I didn't particularly like the Dark Knight either. I loved the story and the meaning, just not the ... intensity. It doesn't relax me. I think i'd rather read the book.

I think that the actors did amazing and that I felt the intensity shows how good a movie it was. Just not for me.

As for RDJ...well if you look at his life and such, the messages in the story would probably go over his head and make it hard for him to understand. That's not to run him down. I think he's a great character. Would he be one of my best friends...I'm sure he'd be a riot to hang out with, but how dependable? He seems to me to be very self centered or really good at acting that way.

That is just my take on it. and that line about burning bridges is pretty good. :)

Here is an article that came up with Robert Downy Jr talking about the Dark Knight. Come on Ironman. Really you didn't understand the story and movie? Geez. College degree to understand? Well I will let you read it.

Robert Downey Jr. Trashes "The Dark Knight" 08-13-2008 (21:00:32)
Robert Downey Jr starred in "Iron Man," the biggest surprise-hit of the year. But how does he feel about the other comic book movie that is currently aiming to become the second biggest earner of all time, "The Dark Knight." Moviehole got the chance to speak to Downey, who was not shy about expressing his feelings toward the new Batman film.

"My whole thing is that that I saw 'The Dark Knight'," said Downey. "I feel like I'm dumb because I feel like I don't get how many things that are so smart. It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved 'The Prestige' but didn't understand 'The Dark Knight'. Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high brow and so f--king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.' You know what? F-ck DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from."

He added that if he never works with DC Comics, it will be fine with him. "You know, you're never too old to burn your bridges because I believe I have offended everyone," he said. "I think I've got a couple more. 'I'll burn that bridge when I come to it' is my favorite phrase I've ever coined."
