The Sims seems to be a little more popular and addicting than Sim City. They are two totally different games.
The Sims seems to be really popular with the female crowd, but can be equally enjoyed on both sides of the fence. When my wife played, she liked doing traditional things like getting them jobs, raising families, decorating houses, etc. When I play, I like messing with them; building four walls to a room where they can't escape, leaving the stove on for a fire, etc. Fun stuff.
