Hi Marjorie, Congrats on your upcoming wedding and your reunion with your daughter. That's great! Like you I hate to exercise. I have osteoarthritis also. I had a knee replacement on one knee and need to have the other one done also, so I understand about it being hard to walk and my weight only makes it harder. I recently purchased a 3 wheel bike...a adult trike. I love it! Fun and good exercise. With bad knees I really need to build my legs muscles up and I thought this would be a fun way to do it. Gradually building up the distance I can ride and I'm not as breathless when I do walk so I guess it's helping with that too. I have also tried the chair exercises from SP, trying to do both T least 3-4 times a week. I haven't made any friends yet at SP, like you I'm shy about doing it but if you would like to be friends, that would be great.
Also Kazzie, you sound like someone I would like to be friends with also. If interested......??
I'm the opposite of you I married right out of high school, I've been married 39 years. I wouldn't change it but I really wished I had gotten a little life experience before I got married. Like lived on my own for a while instead of going from my parent's home to my husband's. My husband is 10 tens older so he had been on his own. But I really wouldn't change any thing else about my marriage. Got two great sons, ages 34 and 24 and a beautiful 3 year old grandson. Now if I could just lose 100 or more life would almost be perfect! Happy wedding!

Hi Kazzie, nice to meet you! Thank you for the congrats and for reaching out. Other than Sparkguy, I think you may be my first friend here! Thank you! I'm a bit shy reaching out to other people, so it does my heart good knowing that you cared enough to write first. I'm not diabetic or anything, but I do have arthritis in my legs/knees. Walking can be torture sometimes. But I keep moving as I can. I've taken to wearing a pedometer, even around the house. It makes me more aware of how little or how much I'm moving, and makes me move even more some days. I tried the seated core workout once and felt great. Will have to try it again. Welcome to you too!
Looking forward to getting to know you better, as well as others out there too!

Hi Marjorie! Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! I too am a late bloomer to marriage. At the ripe ol' age of 62 I married last year. Great guy and best thing that ever happened to me..LOL. We are within pounds of each other. I have diabetes and knee problems. I tire out fast and then get depressed. I joined SP on July 3rd. I was on Weight Watchers and was at a stand still. Way too many points and carbs for a diabetic. I started WW in mid May @ 317# and only lost 12#. I lost 4#'s already with SP. I love the nutritional outline here. I just did the 12 minute seated core workout. You should try it. I feel it in my abs and thighs. Feels good!!! And I burned 52 calories. The information @ SP is priceless. and I hope we can be friends here. Kazzie

Thank you! I can't believe my first wedding is less than a week away! (Civil marriage is the only legal one here in France. We'll be married this coming Friday, then the church wedding will happen exactly one year later! This is my first marriage, but Gabriel's second. Hard to believe it's all happening. Hopefully I will be much lighter this time next year so I can actually find a wedding dress here - French women are definitely NOT like their American sisters when it comes to size - they're all little things here!
I appreciate your feedback and encouragement. I'm really struggling with getting moving - I hate exercise, and with my arthritis & crutches, I run out of steam very fast. Walking wears me out. We don't have any place to do water aerobics here yet. I'm struggling with motivation, and with my outlook these last few days. I think my stress levels with the wedding, plus my mom is moving to France to live with us on Tuesday plus the wedding and meeting people I've never met before - all of that comes into play. On top of all of that, my daughter who I gave up for adoption nearly 35 years ago just searched and found me last week! It's exciting, but I worry that I may say or do something to scare her away. I've bee alternating between extreme euphoria and total depression all week! She's a wonderful girl it seems, well raised, and happily married, but she has M.S. So my worry button has been fully engaged. Ack! The fun never ends!!! LOL!
Anyway, that's my life these days in a nutshell! Thanks again for your kind words - I truly appreciate it!

Hi Marjorie! Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! I have a friend from high school who was a "late bloomer" and now she is very happily married with 2 adopted, very young children I might add and they actually also foster a toddler. It was a first marriage for both of them!
Also, congratulations on getting serious about your weight loss. I think sometimes, half the battle is getting to the right place in your head. I want to lose weight because I'm diabetic and my blood sugar levels are out of control. I'm taking huge doses of insulin and it's still out of control. I can eat nothing but lettuce and water and it's still out of control. The only thing I've found that helps control it is EXERCISE.
I have plantar fasciitis and I simply can't walk or do any exercise that puts weight on my foot so I joined a gym that has a pool (women's only gym) and I've been doing water aerobics and just simply treading water. It burns a huge amount of calories and is so kind to older joints and feet and hips.
I wish you the very best and know that with your motivation and positive outlook you will be successful!

I've been in SP a while now, but was not really dedicated or serious before. I am now though. I haven't been active at all in a very long time and am obese. (307 & 5'7") I am starting Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home dvd's today, as soon as I finish my coffee. I haven't yet figured out how to log fitness but hope to do that today too. I injured my leg back in November prior to moving to France & still walk with crutches most of the time - also have osteoarthritis in both legs. But these factors are not going to deter me. I am getting married in 3 weeks in a civil ceremony (for the first time in my life at the ripe age of 54!) and will marry in a church exactly one year later. I plan to be married in a wedding dress next year - and it will NOT be a huge size like I'd need right now. (Nearly impossible to find here in France since French women are generally very thin, naturally, it seems - the wenches!) lol
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself, say hello to y'all, and "check in". By making myself known to others, I'm also making myself a bit more accountable I think. Until next time, wishing you all a lovely Saturday & lots of success in your journeys!!
